Trump gonna have to sign over his NYC assets to the state.
Love this for him.

What happens when businesses start fleeing the radical bullsh*t they just witnessed in New York, before they become the next target?

It's not impossible that there is a political aspect to this and it's not 100% "fair". But that's life. If you put yourself out there you better have your ducks in a row or someone is going to call you on it. Trump being obstinate about everything just makes it worse.

The AG of NY already has her eyes set on what assets need to be confiscated so judgement is paid.

There is nothing special about real estate investing, it's just a business activity, and there are plenty of examples of New York applying their business laws, and specifically the same ones applied to Trump, to other people improperly conducting business in the state.

The entire goal was to waste his time and drain him of resources heading in to the 2024 election cycle. They pumped BS charges through civil court, put it in front of a judge who was giddy to charge him millions, and the only way for him to appeal is to pony up the cash.
Even if trump wins the appeal, it is still draining him of time and resources. Which is the entire point.
Spare us the "it's not impossible that there is a political aspect to this" nonsense. It is entirely political.

It's a hot night. The mind races. You think about your knife: the only friend who hasn't betrayed you, the only friend who won't be dead by sunup. Sleep tight mates, in your quilted chambray night shirts.

Perhaps if you look at some third world countries you can find some examples, but not in the US.

2) I read through the first few pages and none are evenly remotely similar to what trump was accused of doing. Ironically, #1 on the list is exactly what the biden's did with their overseas income from foreign govts... but funny enough, the fbi was more than happy to let the statute of limitations run out on that.

Using fraudulent means to obtain a loan and then paying off the loan on time does not mean everything is fine. It's not fine if someone embezzled money and then repaid it. The crime still occured.

So even if trump overvalued properties (debatable), the banks looked into it and based on their own valuation, they were more than happy with the terms of the loan.
