Implausibly, a celebrity or famous politician just happens to show up in the living room of the characters on the show to deliver an important message.

Messages include: stay in high school and get your diploma, stay off drugs, etc.

1. new character enters the scene and everyone is initially in-love with the guy but eventually he takes off with money/broken hearts/etc. They never hear of him again and some lesson is learned.

2. Episode where character looks up and then it fades to a dream sequence scene.

Teen character goes to racetrack with older relative, and they are following a system. They win a huge pile of cash, but by sticking with the system, they lose it all, thus maintaining the status quo. Characters who get rich must always go back to the way they were at the beginning of the episode.

Edit: it doesn’t have to be a racetrack, any time the characters come into a lot of money, they somehow lose it or give it away to a worthy charity.
