Name a Cliched Story Always in 90s TV Shows

I've been rewatching some 80s and 90s TV shows and just lol at some of the stories that are always included in every sitcom.


One example is there has to be an episode where someone has trouble in school and finds out they are dyslexic.

Teens getting a pack of cigs and smoking them in 4 days, 5 cigs a day. Then they take 3 days off and get another pack. So 1 pack a week.

Another one I've noticed is the parents getting pregnant after their kids are almost grown and having to deal with a new baby in the family.

IDK about the stories but I recall on Family Ties, it would always end with that fukking Mallory chick throwing a tantrum in a restaurant or crowd situation and running off scene sobbing and flapping her arms lol.

good looking male character / student likes another character, female, who isn't shy, but he's shy and he stumbles on his words and acts awkward and beta and somehow manages to ask the girl out and the girl absolutely says yes and they make out eventually

In real life two actors don’t get along, or one of them goes away to college, so one of them gets replaced but the characters on the show never notice the difference.

All sitcoms share the same story lines. They are a formulaic medium of circular storytelling where the story must end at the point it began. They rely more on character chemistry than originality.
