Doesn't matter now, but for what little it may: totally disagree.

The narrative, one vigorously defended now for years by the media and allies, was that Biden was of sound mind and capable. The debate proved otherwise, you can't undo that and even as short of memories as people have nowadays, once thats out of the bag it's what sticks.

Moving forward they would have had to deal with the perception, which I think was a very real one, but that Biden was in decline and mentally unfit. Maybe they could have made that work, we'll never really know for sure, but it would have been an uphill battle to convince undecided or those less drawn to either side, that Biden's second term would somehow still work even without him being able to make decisions or be in charge.
