It doesn't make much difference. Professional athletes, celebrities, and politicians have all paid for it so if you think it's a matter of being pathetic some of the most high value members of society have paid for it.

I will say I tried it once and did not enjoy it. It's a different experience for sure. There's absolutely no connection and I just couldn't get into it personally. I've never been a fan of one night stands with someone I just met either though. If that makes me gay so be it I guess.
