Spoiler!
tbf Americans would struggle on UK roads, but not the motorways/freeways. It's the narrow country lanes that'll get you. You'd think they're one-way, they're about the width of a freeway lane but cars travel on them in both directions.

I still get the train if I’m going to another big city purely because it’s free for me due to being a rail mogger and usually faster than driving, plus I don’t have to worry about traffic/parking logistics etc

Like I’d never drive to London as it’s 4 hours in a car vs 2 hours on train plus driving down there is terrible, brb clean air zone charges, brb no parking and in London you can pretty much go anywhere in the underground tube so don’t really need a car.

However if I’m going to the shops, mall, or somewhere rural with little public transport etc then I’ll take the car everytime as it gives me way more freedom and logistics.

In all fairness I find high speed country roads and motorways relaxing tbh.

It’s city driving with multiple junctions/roundabouts and pot holes in road that are the most stressful.

Make it a game to try and predict what other drivers are gonna do. Pay attention to people's side/rearview mirrors to see where they're looking, and keep an eye on their tires to give you a heads up if they're gonna deviate

When I first started driving at 16.5y, the cops didn't impound your vehicle and there were no permanent speed/red light cameras anywhere. It was also before the FATF movies so while there were imprezas and skylines etc getting around, most of us were into V8s with big lumpy cams, big intakes and 4 barrel Hollys.

Driving "safe" was not considered competent, we used to drift before that was even something anyone (at least that I knew) had even heard of. We used to drive fast and scare the absolute chit out of each other. We literally burned rubber, a person's competence aka a good driver was someone that could keep control of a car that was effectively out of control.

Always used to LOL at Moms and girls that would say "I'm a good driver, I drive safe" srs.

A friend gave me an MK4 R32 once. They're a fun little car to drive, but you'll find once you get a little bit more driving experience that you may prefer to have a bigger car with more space. Something to consider before dishing out 15k+

Come back to the Misc for the first time in months, check the front page and there’s still a thread from Ibby talking about his driving test/driving.

Bro, what is your life lol? Do you actually do anything else?

Also, for the record, no girls on tinder/hinge ask if you drive at our ages, it’s an automatic assumption that you do past age 22

lol what a wall of cope

you took nearly double figures to pass your driving test, you absoloutly suck at driving and are a liability on the road, no ammount of cope will change that

you've just started driving and you already have a claim on your insurance, fukin LOLING hard. Some of us have been driving 15 years without a single claim, meanwhile ibraham hits a fukin stationary sign his first weeks driving even tho he 'doesnt drive much' lmao

'premiums wont rise by much next year', what kind of cope is this, your premium is supposed to go down each year massively when you first start driving lol. Man thinks hes gonna buy a golf car when he keeps crashing and destroying his insurance premium lol

This again is massive cope. It's not a status boost at all at your age, it's expected. It's is damaging to your status if you dont have it, but it's hardly a 'boost' since it's pretty much the norm, and most people with an above 90 IQ are driving by 25. BRB having legs is a 'boost'.

My premiums legit won’t rise by much though, did quotes on compare the market and put my exact details a of the incident/cost of the claim and it only went up £300-400 for whole year on renewal. Plus I won’t lose my no claims bonus because there was no damage to my car and I didn’t have to pay any excess, technically a third party was claiming off me lol.

I was skeptical going through insurance at first but the reality is it was a minor incident where I knocked over a sign going at 5mph, hardly a ‘crash’ lmao. Better than paying £1600 to the petrol station privately who were trying to mug me off.

In fact here a pic of the damaged sign just a dent and they wanted £1600/$2k to replace this lmao.

Also the amount of times it took me to pass my test is pretty much irrelevant now, as I said you only really learn to drive after you pass.

There’s plenty of people who pass 1st time and completely write off there cars in the first week so I’m not that bad of a driver.

But yes been getting way more hinge dates, went on holiday to Morocco recently and got two free shags in a week srs. Been seeing multiple sloots at once.

You're missing the entire point; your insurance is already too high as a new driver and it's supposed to go DOWN each year as you become more experienced, so saying 'it wont go up by much' is cope, because it should be going down fast lol.

To put it into context you're saying 'it only went up 3-400 a year'…. dude, i insure two cars (a 3 litre BMW and a 24 plate SUV) fully comp for 15k miles a year for £450 a year, so an increase of '3-400' on a chitty volkswagen polo for barely any mileage is actually quite massive, and i'm only like 4 years older than you i think. It might not harm your no claims, but it will count as a claim on future insurance in the 'have you made any claims in the last 5 years' section, which will harm your premiums.

Honestly, you're trying to explain how insurance works to people who've been driving for over a decade. It may seem like nothing now, but in the future this will harm you, because it still counts as a claim even if you have your 'NCB'. This is going to harm your hopes for insuring a golf R for anything less than stupid money over the next 5 years. You should've paid in cash, it really would've been cheaper in the long run (and dont you have 'massive disposable income' anyway?) or better still, be aware that you're a **** driver for now and be more careful until you've built up more experience, i mean bro you hit a giant yellow stationary sign at 5mph lol
