Saturday Arms and shoulders
Sunday exercises specific to building swing speed. Picked up 10 mph on my ball speed for golf in 6 months that way. Before next spring I want to add 10 more. If a midget like Rory Mcilroy can do it a 6’1” lanklet like me should have no problem.

Last 4 months I’ve experimented with 1 on 1 off and just don’t see as good results. So going back to my old way.

Just lol at some no avi red telling people how often to work out.

You must be a manlet. Only little guys have egos too big for their little bodies to cash.

Get your test levels right then we can start talkin.

Sure u can push thru. I've gone 30+ days multiple times with no rest days. But should you? Is it healthy? Good for gains?

Nope. All ur doin is fukn ur body up with chitty workouts. Peak retardation srs.

The most you should do is one day on/one day off. Ideally 2 days off in between.
Cortisol levels drop after training and have a daily rhythm. I think what you might have been suffering would have been a strained CNS, something that can take a good day (or days) to recover, depending on the training.

That said, your CNS will adapt over time as well. There certainly is an upper limit and constantly being dog tired from a drained CNS is not optimal, but never working more than 2 days in a row is pretty limiting. I think you can, and should, push it now and again. Get rest when you feel too dogged, which over time will build up to beyond 2 days of back to back lifting.

Age, diet, sleep, how you train, all that will factor in of course. I'm older, moderately trained, decent diet, good sleep. I can put in more than two days of training before I get worn down. Sometimes, even doing 2/day training, right now my weekly limit is probably 6-9 hours of overall training. If I push closer to 9, if/when time even allows for that, that's pretty much it – I will be fried pretty badly by the end of the week (and need a good 2 days of recovery).

If it really just came down to cortisol, there are many easy ways to block that. Good luck with a 20-rep set of squats with low/no cortisol though. Like most other hormones, it's a balance. You want some, even 'bad' hormones like estrogen (which is a sex hormone), just too much or a wrong balance is when problems occur.
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

I tried topgolf a while ago and was able to hit the ball all the way to the fence the first time I tried.

Google says the fence is 250 yards and that the balls are designed to not fly as far.

Lol hit the gym lilbro. we all know you were on the top floor swinging out of your shoes and one ball made it that far, I hit my 4 iron to the fence. If you can't hit it over the fence from the bottom floor you aren't stronk.

I hit my 5 wood further than 99.9% of golfers hitting driver. You ain't on my level.

but yea that's pretty much my symptoms too

just pissed off and annoyed at everything and everything

I believe "roid rage" isn't from roids themselves. But rather they are from an increased amount of exercise leading to high cortisol. I used to get the same rage as a lifetime natty.

It's pretty much universally accepted 'roid rage' is due to the excess testosterone levels associated with PEDs.

Cortisol is barely linked to anger and only in that, the stressful situations that can raise cortisol often can make someone angry. Working out, fasting, taking a cold shower, all that also raises cortisol but since it's not some mentally stressful situation – they aren't going to make anyone angry. If anything, working out in the absence of having x4-10 normal levels of testosterone due to PEDs is likely to make someone calmer than angrier.

Excess cortisol is a thing, especially in the modern life where people are constantly under micro-stressors and are not relaxing, getting good sleep, etc… but you are putting way more on it than you should.

If you were burnt out from lifting, getting pissy and felt angrier, okay. How was your sleep? How was your home and work life? I'd look at a lot of other places before landing on cortisol as the cause of all your problems.

I have a 5 day split but it usually takes 8-9 days to get through it instead of 7

Upper/Lower/Rest/Upper/(Usually another Rest)/Lower/Rest/Upper/Rest

The older you are and/or the heavier you’re lifting the more rest days you need

I actually completely agree with you, OP. I'm always good for 2 days in a row, but everything goes to chit if I do 3: power and explosiveness take a massive dip, sleep sucks, libido drops, strength goes down, and I feel like an apathetic kunt.

I train very hard tho. I'm sure if I did lighter, shorter workouts it'd be a different story.

I do 3 gym days in a row, then 1 rest day. The first 2 days are usually no more than 3 workouts (4 sets 10-15 reps with not too heavy weights). The 3rd day is rougher since I do shoulders + legs in one day so it's 6 workouts (4 sets 10-15 reps with not too heavy weights). Usually I'm out of the gym within 20-25 minutes, except day 3 it can take up to 40.

Most would say I don't take the gym seriously enough, but it works for me. Perhaps 1 day on 1 day off would be better if my workouts were more intense. But I figure what I'm doing is overall better for my joints.

Stay active 7 days per week crew….doesn't mean I go to the gym everyday and lift heavy…probably 4 days a week in the gym and anything else just to stay active. Rucksacking, lifting, HIIT cardio, etc…stay lean all year round. Keep my macros in check and typically do 60% carbs, 30 protein, and 10 fats…works great for me.

this. i'm older and now incorporate rest days/stretching/mobility and more running. doesn't make sense to train so hard unless you're competing tbh.

a decade ago i'll blast the gym 5/6 days a week for fun. not anymore.

Yup…especially considering how your recovery time literally doubles once you get to 40….yeah..I don't personally have a "rest day" but it's not like you need much recovery after a long rucksacking walk or quick cardio session lol…I do take days off after lifting though.

active rest days are the GOAT

i walk on a trail for 1-2 hours sometimes on rest days just breathing in all the fresh oxygen

but yea those don't count as a "workout day"

They sure don't…I only consider gym/lifting days as true "workout days"…I just really fancy being active on the days I'm not lifting….something as simple as a long walk or even some burpees at home lol…im not really a bodybuilder..I just like being healthy and staying lean all year…which is a motherfuker at my age lol…
