I work at home and live in the city and barely have been driving lately..it's been awhile since my last change

Sounds like you could use an EV. You don't need to change the oil in an EV.
My daily driver is a plug in hybrid. About 90% of my driving is in EV mode I'd guess. yet once a year I find myself changing the oil. It is rather annoying. Last oil change had me waiting at the dealership for about 2 hours, then 40 minutes to drive home. Ugh.

Dealer says 8,000 the specialty shop says 5,000.
But this chit makes a huge difference, your car becomes almost silent.

Friend's sister never changed her oil. Eventually the filter plugged up and the bypass opened up. From then it was just a matter of time until the sludge filled up all of the oil galleries and the engine finally seized.

when my truck was new I used to do oil analysis every 5K and/or when the DIC said it was time for an oil change and then based my oil change interval on that. Since I have a DPF than regens you get some fuel blow by into the crankcase so I can't go for long oil change intervals. What work's for me 285K later is to change the oil every 15K mile or every 6 months with a full synthetic. I do a lube job every 3 months. External Trans filter change yearly and fluid change every 50K miles
