I want to clarify that the simple act of a government official soliciting a social media company for action could be seen as a constitutional violation in and of itself.

The government has great power over businesses and can theoretically make them do anything without explicitly stating a threat.

The government should not be in contact with platforms that support/enable commerce of speech in nearly every case.

That would be like the government contacting a phone company and having you banned for uncomfortable speech.

The government has no right to subvert the public discourse.

How can people trade ideas with a tyrannical government?

What's funny is how leftist will defend the government doing this because they are doing it in a way they like. It's like marrying a woman that cheated on her husband with you. If they will do it with you they will do it to you. As of now, liberals see censorship being applied against Trump and conservatives but once they lay the framework for it, someone else can take over and it might be who you don't like. So Biden/Harris manage to get it so they can censor negative information about them and can arrest critics of their pet programs, then Trump wins the election and can censor anything bad about him and have his critics arrested.

It's funny how some people's morals change once they get a little power. I guess when you have no morals in the first place, but case in point, The McCarthy Era should have been a lesson and it's funny how the left is now pro cancel/censor. They couldn't outlaw you from being a communist but what they could do is blacklist you so you couldn't work and nobody wanted to have anything to do with you. They used it to violate people's rights and spy on people. At first they only used it on devout communist that actually were active party members who were working with even Soviets, or spreading actual propaganda. After a while they were going after anyone who didn't cheer for napalm being dropped on civilians if they were communist controlled or even asked questions.

Even up to this day, say anything but negative things about Hitler and 1930's-1940's Germany and you're a NAZI sympathizer if not an actual Nazi yourself. Now they are redefining what racism is and labeling people (name your cause)-phobic for disagreeing with them. Now, if you aren't pro-Israel you're a nazi terrorist!

Seatard (won't let me quote) but yeah I watched this happen twice hard in my lifetime where on 9-11 they used it to bypass our rights and then during the pandemic. They declare an emergency and think they can override the law, and our rights. They can't.

So now they try to create "state of emergency" so they can do it again. According to the dems, "white supremacy" is some kind of threat and an attack and some liberals have tried to call a state of emergency. What is "white supremacy"? If you think they mean hooded klansmen and skinheads you're mistaken. What they mean is anytime white people are in the #1 position of any outcome or anytime a non-white person thinks anything is unfair, despite evidence. You're a white supremacist if you don't self sabatoge. It's pretty nuts what they think. What it really is, is one demographic that can't get it together so they are looking to blame others.
