Worst case scenario is KC getting a big enough lead that force SF to abandon the run before they can get it going.

Shanny should look closely at that Houston Texans film and see how they were able to so easily score on KC in tha that first half.

I'm just excited to be going to the big show. The team has never been this good in my entire adult life and it's a lot of fun to watch them smash these teams.

I really think at first we should do what we've been doing and just run the hell out of the ball. I don't think the Chiefs can stop it and the nice thing is if we start that way and use play action it will be effective since they're going to be expecting run. I think this team would love nothing more than winning a SB the same way we've won these last two games. I would ****ing love it and the fact at how outraged it would make everyone else would be glorious. Let's win the SB and still have people talking about if Jimmy can win us a big game…

As for defense we have to pressure QB its simple as that. We have great coverage TE and S to watch Kelce other than that just limit the over the top plays. Even if they get some chunk plays don't give up TD's on big plays. Make them earn it in the red zone, which they haven't been great at this year supposedly. I think the nice thing is we don't have to worry about a run game with them, just have to watch for lots of misdirection and speed and big plays. Mahomes is a talent and a half so if he makes plays so be it but we just gotta focus on getting to him and thats the biggest key on defense.
Andy Reid vs Kyle Shanahan playcalling with an extra week to prepare will be something to watch.

Both guys are brilliant in what they do. KC gets the extra advantage in terms of QB & playmakers but we have the crazy balance in our favor.

As a 49ers fan I wish we were playing an easier team to stop but as a football fan this game should be a blast…just hoping we come out on top of a great game.

About that time we started seeing Jimmy pass more and WIN the games in Green Bay, Seattle, New Orleans, LA, and Seattle again.

Feeling good no matter what Kyle draws up.
People look at his totals, especially the picks and don't bother looking further into it. He had 21 TDs 8 picks since we traded for Sanders. The picks don't tell the full story either. Out of those 8 picks 3 of them were on Jimmy and one of them was the play where Jalen Ramsey breaks off his coverage(scenario I was talking about earlier)

I've seen some people say he's just like Jameis Winston which is absolutely garbage take.

Jimmy trusts Kyle's scheme and sometimes maybe blindly. You can't control the bounces off WR hands(they need to make sure it's either a completion or incompletion…don't bounce it up in the air for a turnover) but he'll put the ball out there to try to make the play.

Steve Young didn't exactly light it up in 94 when we won the SB.

His numbers in the divisional/NFC Championship rounds
16/22 143 1TD 0 INT
13/29 155 2TD 0 INT

…his numbers in the SB for those not young enough to remember

24/36 325 6TD 0 INT

Here's hoping history repeats itself.

LOL bro. Kyle didn't let Jimmy throw a pass for 90 minutes and as soon as he did, he threw for a 20+ yard first down to Kittle, just to show everyone they still could go with the pass game if they wanted.

I don't think that Houston lead is anything to try to replicate. Can't count on a punt block for a TD and then a punt muff by the other team deep in their territory.

I keep saying I expect this to be very similar to the Saints game. Saints pretty much scored on us at will and we just had to make enough plays to get the ball last and make it count which is what happened.

KC defense aren't pushovers and they have some real talent on that roster but 49ers scheme is pretty different.

The teams that run a similar scheme to us that KC has played this year is probably just the Packers. That game can pretty much be thrown out in terms of result due to the players missing for both teams but obviously it was a good performance for GB offensively even with Adams not playing but Chiefs were missing a ton of key starters on D.

Last year however they played us and the Rams. We all remember our game…

Rams who are a better comparison to us this season to how they played last year(even though their D was much weaker stat wise) was a game the NFL would absolutely die for in the SB…I'm sure we all remember it but it was a crazy 54 to 51 point win for the Rams

This is easily our toughest matchup on D this year IMO. Mobile QB with a huge arm. Crazy speed at WR and a terrific TE.

Our DL needs to have the best game of their season and our secondary will have to be on point and ready to run. If any ball comes close to our guys where they can make a play on it, it's a must that we catch any off target pass that comes our way because Mahomes doesn't make many mistakes so any he makes it's a must that we come away with them.

If we don't steal any possessions from them it's going to be a really tough ask to win this game.

Chiefs won’t score at will like the Saints did. Our defense is actually healthy for this game and finally got a bye week two weeks ago. And another bye week this upcoming week.

Yeah I certainly hope our D shows up and stops even the Chiefs enough where we win but just pointing to a game where the D played poorly and we still won.

We've won all sorts of games this year. This team is tested and ready to go. Should be a great game.

I loved our chances against GB. I can't say the same about this game but IMO it's a toss up. I'd be surprised if either team runs away with it.

Agreed. We've only genuinely struggled against teams with a QB that can move, so there is obvious concern there. But health played a huge factor in all of those games as well…

Yeah I recall 84 dropping or missing passes often. And yes you are right about bouncing balls, we cant get away with that in the SB.

Thanks for the Steve Young flashbacks, I had forgotten his stats. That seems like ages ago.

Honestly getting tired of this section. And it’s not just here, it’s pretty much the mentality of sports fans these days. Nothing is nuanced. Players are either “GOAT” or “trash”. Nothing in between. Rodgers team loses an NFC championship game and it’s used as a way to crush him and weaken his legacy. Guy had a great season and his team lost to a superior one. But so many people insist on having a hot take on everything.

I've seriously stopped posting so much in the sports misc and I don't even touch the actual misc anymore. I mostly just post in this thread and make a rare post in the sports misc here and there. It falls on deaf ears if you want to have any sort of civilized conversation. Everything is a "know it all" I'm right post or troll post or both, which usually warrants a comment with a bit of snark. I actually enjoyed when that Minnesota guy came in here last week to talk football. Wish the sports misc was more like that.

This place is getting so bad. Can barely get any decent football talk going without trolling or idiots showing up. I may stick to this thread a lot more and 49er related threads and just post more on webzone(tho it has its own idiots)

Honestly don’t like a lot about Reddit but 49ers Reddit (and NFL reddit) is pretty good. There are stupid memes but they’re flagged as such. It’s good for all the recent info and tweets. And there are some really good posters on there.

It’s absurd. There isn’t a player alive who never had a chit game. Especially at QB. Although you would think that some of these buffoons would rethink their thought process when bashing other players when their guy struggles in similar situations but nope…

Wow… Glad I am not the only one who hardly post anymore. I basically only check here and see if there is anything interesting in the political section. Crazy to think the I have been a supp rep off and on over the last 5 years. That place is even worse. Hardly anymore promos, all I see if everyone bumping each others reps, giving each other homey hookups ect…. Sadly most online forums are dying or are already there. I saw that another site I used to love to go on is going to try to come back.

I'm usually against using the ignore list but I'm going to add a few people to it to make the site a little easier to read. Some people offer literally 0 substance to sports talk so no point even seeing their garbage. There are guys posting on here for years who don't even have an actual team they root for. Simply jumping from bandwagon to bandwagon and trolling. Not wasting my time with that any more.

btw any of you bros actually thinking of making the game?

I'd love to go but too much chit going on around the house/life that I just can't dish out the money it would take. Plus the wife wouldn't be thrilled with me missing her grandmother's 95th bday(i've been assured I'd be home in time for kickoff)

In my dreams…. Traveling to the east coast, hotel, plus the cost of tickets. I am just happy to go a game every year. This would be amazing though!

On the news yesterday they had a brief interview with a guy from the bay area who dropped 14k on tickets. He is taking a friend and they are splitting the cost of hotel and airfare, but not the tickets. I wish I had that much money sitting around right now.

Unfortunately the people who typically have that type of money laying around aren't ones to get vocal. I just hope it doesn't turn into a KC home game for our guys out there. If it's loud then hopefully it's equally loud for both teams or not an issue for either team….obviously if 49er fans with deep pockets can show up and get loud that would be ideal.

Remember that stretch when Garoppolo threw 5 straight picks in practice and then he looked awful in his first preseason game and then a report came out that Shanahan didn’t trust Lynch?
Horny.

Nara! Good to see you back(but don't blame you for staying away lol).

This team has definitely been a blast to watch. No matter what happens next Sunday this season has been a huge accomplishment for those guys. I'd love to see them go out with a W because I'd love to see all those guys rewarded for their efforts but KC has a great team and it's going to be a tough one. Either way I think this team has the pieces in place to be in the SB hunt for a while though it's so hard to get to the big dance you really want to see the end result be a win.

People were losing their fuking minds about that. I've learned long ago not to overreact one way or another to preseason and training camp practices, especially in terms of QBs throwing picks.

I like that we're going into this game as underdogs.

So far I don't think I've seen many people pick the 49ers. We've done a pretty good job showing up when we're the underdogs. Hopefully it happens again and we get #6 on 2/2/2(0) cuz 2+2+2+0 = 6.
