Yeah…I keep going back and forth on what I think will happen. I do think the game will be close but as I mentioned this season has been so tough to analyze the two teams with the injuries and matchups that I can really see it going in a lot of different ways.

I would however be really surprised if the 49ers get blown out. Anything is possible and 49ers could play a super sloppy game and with the Chiefs as good as our D has played if you give them short fields and extra possessions…bye bye SB chances.

I do think this team will come out ready to play. I do think we should prepare to not see our defense play the way it has the last two games. The chiefs have a scary ass QB and some super talented playmakers for him to throw to and maybe if this was the 80s I'd feel confident our D can overcome the talent they have on offense. Unfortunately with the rules of today it's more of a "let's hope our talented D gets enough key stops or turnovers to hold them back" type of game IMO.

And of course despite the crap Garoppolo gets I'm confident our offense can do their part.

But I agree, Breida hasn't looked the same the second half of the season. I'm hoping Coleman can be in there as the #2 guy at least, but I think you gotta run Mostert as the hot hand as the first option. I wouldn't mind seeing more of Wilson either if Coleman is out and Breida isn't getting anywhere. I think we have enough weapons on offense either way for this not to be an issue

The biggest thing is going to be getting to Mahomes on defense with 4 people. The defense has seen a mobile QB a few different times now so they should be prepared for it but Mahomes seems like a different beast right now. We need to go out and get stops early and get off to a strong start. I don't think we win if we have to come from behind

I wasn't able to make the game. I'm hoping there is a large enough 49er fan presence to make a difference, or at least keep it even with Chiefs fans
Lol that was before he fumbled in limited snaps vs the Vikings.

As for our pass rush it will really need to be a group effort in how we rush. If our guys just rush on their own Mahomes will get outside the pocket and make big plays on us. It looks like the key to trying to keep him in check is to mostly get guys rushing outside and squeezing the pocket but ensuring he cannot slide out.

This will definitely need to be a total group effort. The secondary can't let guys get over the top quickly to allow Mahomes to use his rocket arm. The pass rush will be hard to get there quick enough to really disrupt them so squeezing the pocket and hoping our secondary holds up where they can't go into scramble mode is key.

I'd be surprised if the 49ers got blown out too. They haven't yet and played every good team the NFL has. Even the red hot ravens didn't blow them out. Looks like Vegas agrees with the 1.5 pt spread.

But yeah I don't think the 49ers defense can stop Mahomes. He'll get his #s for sure I just hope we contain him enough to win the game by being the team who has the ball last and gets a last second score to win.

The 49ers seem have an X factor about them that will be at play here too. I've never seen the loyalty to each other in the volume they have it on any other team or any other sport I've followed to be honest. It's like they are genuinely having fun and are honestly playing for the other guys on the team and not their paychecks. Sort of like a band of military bros in active service. It's quite inspiring actually.

Yeah it's going to be really tough to do that just with the front 4. Our linebacker play has been really solid so I think that will help. He's going to get more than one big play and he's going to score, so really it needs to be limiting him as much as we can on defense as well as scoring consistently. This game is more on our offense than defense IMO

Saw Dan Orlovsky make a post on twitter this morning talking about what the Eagles did to the Pats in their SB.

Pats were a big time zone D and Eagles ran a lot of RPO in that game until Pats had to switch to man and then they found their matchups to gash them in the passing game.

His point is the 49ers are a big time zone team and KC is a big time RPO offense. So he's expecting KC to run RPO until we switch to man and basically expects them to torch us at that point.

Honestly I don't get how these guys get paid for these hot takes. Comparing our defense to the Pats that year who while 5th in points allowed were 29th in yards allowed and even benched one of their best tacklers in the secondary for that game.

If the Chiefs are stupid enough to take the ball out of Mahomes' hand then more power to them. I'm sure our defense would absolutely welcome that.

So me and the GF just began talking about out SB party. What are you guys planning for the day/night?
We may do Rocklands BBQ or Pick up Pizzas for the 6:30 kick off.
Curious, what others are planning.

Wife's grandmother is turning 95 that day so we'll be going over there before the game.

I don't normally like doing parties just cuz I like to be myself during games. In a group environment I have a hard time toning things down lol.

As long as that BBQ isn't KC you're all good lol.

Now this is the content I'm here for…

You guys know me…I'm typically reserved when it comes to us winning games and Chiefs were the team that scared me the most and yes they've played well this year. Yes their defense is MUCH better than it was last year and yes Mahomes is a friggin stud who can put up points on any defense, especially with the rules of today.

But in all of this people seem to forget just how good this 49ers offense was this year when everyone was healthy. I can't find the numbers but our per play numbers on offense with Kittle and Juice in the lineup are absurd. They dip significantly with both guys out or one of them out.

Our defense doesn't need to completely shut down Mahomes to win and I doubt very highly with all their talent and his ability that we're able to do that. But we need to just make enough key plays/stops and have our offense deliver on their end.

The good news is based on what's happened this season and in the playoffs our strengths match up very well with the Chiefs strengths and also play well into their weaknesses on defense.

Who knows what happens. If we play sloppy, turn the ball over or commit big penalties, miss assignments it may not matter but matchup wise we have a really good shot in this game as long as we execute and play smart.

Chiefs defense plays their worst against the formation we run with the most success in the NFL.
Chiefs offense struggles(as much as their offense can struggle with Mahomes) the most vs Zone which is what we primarily play

This is definitely the best matchup the NFL could've had IMO. Mahomes is good enough that he can take a game over, our team simply has to be better overall.

Same. I love this team but damn Mahomes and that Chiefs offense scares me. Really wish his OL was crap at least or he didn’t have a stacked set of pass catchers.

Hopefully our D shocks people(including myself) again and our offense comes to play and doesn’t make any mistakes.

I'm hoping we get off to a big lead. I don't think we can chase Chiefs down if they get up a couple of possessions on us.

I have been trying not to read to many headlines and really trying not to think to much about it. Super nervous but I like our chances. They have play a great game on all parts. I will be going to a neighbors house to watch the game. So I will be eating and drinking way to much.

Just heard one of those fast talking betting guys on the local sports talk show and he said that everyone is talking about the Chiefs offense, but no one is talking about the 49ers front 4 and the skill of the Defense. He believes that the Niners can score lots on the Chiefs D and that the Niners win this one.

This SB honestly is a toss up to me. I hope and pray we pull it out and finish off this amazing year with a W but KC is legit and I can just as easily see them getting enough done to pull out a close game. I really think it will come down to the final moments of the game.

I would love nothing more than for us to win in convincing fashion but I just don't see it happening unless injuries play a factor(and I hope that doesn't happen)

We're going over my wife's grandmother's house for her 95th bday earlier on Sunday(will help pass the time and squash my anxiety) but then we're going back home and I'm watching it the same way I've watched the other games…sweating, screaming but hopefully celebrating in the end lol.

That is how I prefer to watch games. Same outfit, same spot in my couch and a beer or two. My kids know not to bother me and my wife’s leaves me alone. At least the party I am going to is all miner fans. So we will all be off in another room room away from everyone.

We are hosting a small gathering(6) but i am the only Niners fan so i won't be "working" the party like i normally would.
I will be studying the game like i do each pitch in a 9 inning baseball game.

Game day! The biggest one of the year. It's finally time! Can't wait to watch this game and similar to some of you, I'll be at home with just the GF watching on my new couch in my same outfit cheering hard for the Niners. I don't like watching Niners games with big crowds unless it's all buddies who are fans. I think if we come out and play our game we will get the W. Gotta play fast, smart, and focused. Bring the energy and impose our will on the game, and get after Mahomes all damn day! I'll make a usual halftime post in here otherwise I won't be on the misc during the game and I'll get back with y'all after the game ends. Go Niners!
