Just EL oh EL if "watchbox + watch name" in youtube isn't the very first search you do when getting more info on a particular watch. Tim Mosso is the GOAT.

5:20 to 7:20

I know there are bonafide collectors out there that will get every model, but the YM and deep sea just look like less aesthetic submariners to my eye. I guess the YM comes in unique color configurations but in my head they're all the same watch (type/feel) with the sub being the most refined.

Also the YM2 complication is just stupid, impressive, but stupid. 10 minute countdown that requires you to do the MOST to set it up. Meanwhile i can do the same thing with a quick turn of my 60min bezel. When I take into the account the doodoo proportions of the deep sea and YM2, then consider everybody and their mum has a submariner… the DJ41 and SkyDweller are truly my only rolex aspirations… and maybe the CHNR, the Rootbeer color scheme is pretty sick.
I love my YM but the only YM that is nice IMO is the original one with the platinum face. The new blue faced one is an atrocity IMO and the YMII is too big for my wrists. I love my submariner and its my #1 watch that I'll keep for life but I look at the YM as the submariners douchebag brother. Its definitely a delicate watch and I have had some issues with it compared to the sub which I have taken mountain biking etc. The YM is something I'll wear if I do khakis and a nice button up or just to throw on for a change of pace.

This. That's standard damage caused by laying down drinking prosecco with your man.

Straps aren't usually covered under warranty, but maybe your AD will take care of you.

went out for cocktails. came back to my balcony and was laying down drinking prosecco with my girl when suddenly my watch just came undone. I thought i undid the buckle but nope, the fuking nubuck legit just tore off. What in the actual fuk? I bought this chit brand new from the AD in FOOKING january bruv.

Have i been wearing it a little tight? yeah. Was i putting a lot of pressure on the strap when i was wearing the watch while plowing sl00ts in the uk? also yes, but 6 months of wear before tearing? fake and ghey.

RIP.
If you’re interested in some new straps, I’ve had good experiences with this company:
https://www.hirschstraps.com/

Also, I hear this company supplies quality straps to watch makers (including JLC). It’s been recommended to me to buy them directly from this source (though I have not done so yet).

Does anyone have a Panerai? Particularly a Luminor in 44mm or 42mm? I know Panerai are always divisive and have questionable history but I've always really liked the Luminor.

I used to have a 320. I liked it, but ultimately ended up trading it. I wouldn't mind having it back.

I usually avoid colorful straps, but I thought I’d give this casual blue one a try.

Not sure what to get next. Possibly Oris Aquis on a bracelet or Rado Captain Cook. My dilemma is always: should I just not buy any of these, wait a few years and buy the Rolex 114300 Purple dial like I actually want and call it a life?

Agree with this, assuming you actually want the Rolex the most and can realistically attain it. Settling never works out.

In the same boat brah. I’ve wanted a thin/small dive watch for a while now. The 38mm Oris sixty five has been on my mind as a quick way to scratch that itch.

What I really want is a vintage sub 5508 in decent condition (fukin lol @ chances of at acquiring one of those in decent condition at less than the cost of a great car)

I might just have to nix the vintage style idea altogether and go for one of these at 38mm:

Speaking of straps. I ordered one from Jack Foster. Great quality american made blah blah blah. BUT HOLY FUARK at how thick it is. The JF strap is attached to my watch, and my broken Tudor nubuck one is directly under it.

I loved the quality of the leather but that thickness is a no go. Triple-ply as fuk. I ordered a second strap from him in a dark brown leather that appears to be made from a single sheet rather than three pieces stacked together. Hope that's the one i rock for good on this watch.

I don't know much about them other than that they have a nice following. Do you do the work yourself?

And the lume on the dial looks super splotchy. Is that what you're looking for or it just is what it is?

I do, its fun and the watches/parts are not terribly expensive.
the splotchy lume you are seeing is probably from my potato camera or the distortion from the single dome crystal. it looks much nicer in person.
