Ok went to the Pre-Sale/Open House for Fortis Fitness west in Toronto. Holy Fack.

To start they have 6 squat racks, 7 olympic platforms, 3 deadlift platforms, 4 benches that you don't need a spotter for, getting a mono-lift, strongman equipment and countless other items.

You have Iron Sport Gym just outside of Philly which is amazing.

No they don't but they have a plate loadable atlas stone to save space. A Yoke, plate loadable keg, a giant dumbbell and a few other things.

How much were the membership if you don't mind me asking?

Also, anyone (preferably who lifts) is familiar with Movati? How was your experience? It looks pretty fancy. Nothing against cheap gyms but I like the idea of well maintained facility.

Like $62 a month. But it's 24/7 access and I believe you also get access to the east end gym as well.

You can also put the membership on hold and they pro rate if you cancel. Min is 2 months membership.

whats going on CC

this weather has been insane, -20 feeling like -40 in toronto and now in the positives. I don't really like the cold but I can tolerate consistency. Can mother nature make up her mind already?

I've been playing soccer indoors and I spent the first half of our last game jumping around to try and keep warm.

Lol, no chit. Warmed up a touch yesterday but I have a feeling it’s going to go back to the -20 junk.

The worst thing with this "warm weather" in Toronto is everything that is melting will be ice very soon.

I wonder if I could skate around for work which would be awesome.

I love the colder weather. -40 and humid sucks, but I'm pretty happy in most of the cold. This thaw is killing me though…

Fuark in winterpeg it was 0° Tuesday and Monday and then today it’s -27 without the windchill and the cocksuking wind is making it absurd. Couldn’t even lace up some skates to go play on the outdoor cause it was to much. I even put my dickies jacket on cause the winter coat was to fuking hot. 0° to -27 in one day. Fuk me.

Lol, same thing happened in Calgary, went from -1c to -25c on the 10th. Nothing like a little reminder of home (Winnipeg) to toughen you up. It's also been nice to have a squeaky clean car for more than a day.

It's supposed to get back up to +2c tomorrow though.

Any of y'all out on the east coast?
PIPPIN: I didn't think it would end this way.
GANDALF: End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it.
PIPPIN: What? Gandalf? See what?
GANDALF: White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise.
PIPPIN: Well, that isn't so bad.
GANDALF: No. No, it isn't.

Anyone following the minimum wage and the Timmys row here? Pretty bad when we fight over a $15/hr wage. Shows just how false the economy is for many. They should have to pay them that much to encourage them to work…cause there are a lot of higher wage jobs with good benefits out there…not seeing that at all. I really worry for our young people.

Ditto. I tutor a lot of younger people. The job market is not pretty out there, despite what "jobs reports" and Bay Street pundits claim. These days it is very important to build transferable skills and be geographically mobile.

Tfw moved provinces for work.

My one buddy moved provinces for work too.

The rest of my childhood friend group is still all stuck working in deadend jobs going nowhere fast because they don't want to move away from where they grew up.

Same story over here, I moved two provinces over. The majority of my high school friends are still banquet servers or call centre operators.

That's the (sad) new reality.

No more life long careers at a certain location with a retirement plan. Got to be willing to relocate and accept contract work. Unless of course you work for the government. Not bashing the public sector or anything but most of them got it real good.

My Mum is a Newfie my Dad is from NB, with little more than a few dollars in their pockets they left home at 17, my Mum relocated to Ontario where her sisters were to find a job, My Grandfather dropped my Dad off at the RCAF depot and that was it, the RCAF became his new family. Thats how it was, no mollycoddling or babying there. They were tough.

Not all kids cling, a friend's son just got on with CN (CP and CN are hiring BTW), he is on the next bus to Winnipeg to start his training, he cant get out of here fast enough, happy for him and his folks.
