Pretty hard to know what we can do in the draft considering the toughest rounds to predict are day 3 selections and as it stands we only had 1 pick on day 1 and 2 combined.
I'd love to see us trade down and find a way to get us a mid 2nd round, 3rd and 4th round picks from #31. It would likely require a couple of moves but possible.
Would love to see something like this come out of it
1. Jalen Reagor WR
2. Kyle Dugger S
3. Matt Hennessey C/G
Reagor may definitely go in the first round and even before #31 before it's all said and done but he's the type of guy we need on offense. Good combo of speed, agility and route running. If we stayed at #31 I'd be tempted to take him and hope we can either get some other picks from trading guys we may not need anymore or just hope we find some studs later on.

I just saw something saying Kwon Alexander restructured his contract which will save about 8 million in cap space.

I think the failures against mobile QBs was overblown a bit. Obviously with our strong pass rush we were much better vs stationary QBs but I think the poor performances vs Arizona had more to do with shorter rest and some injuries. Murray had 150 yards and 241 yards(with 88 and a TD of them coming late in the 4th when we overplayed Isabella)

So Celek is out, not unexpected. Thanks for Celek time! I also saw Kwon restructured his deal to save like 10M in space anyone else seeing this, I saw it on IG but not on anything else really so curious what's up with that.
I dunno what FA holds for us but I do know it seems like we'll have Armstead back next year and I'd bet Jimmy Ward too. Sanders I'm not sure about but we'll see. I don't know much about who is available on the FA market but I agree I'd think the strategy is more resigning our guys or finding similar pieces and maybe a hopeful upgrade here or there. Curious to see how the roster shakes out when it's all said and done. I do like the fact we're a destination players would want to go to play now, a huge help for signing talent.

Curious to hear anyone's thoughts on what Kittles contract is going to wind up looking like. And do you think Austin Hooper getting a record breaking te contract this off season is going to jack up Kittles eventual price tag.

Definitely would rather we had ourselves a division full of Jared Goffs but it is what it is. Have to play well whether statues or super mobile guys are back there.
Hopefully our D keeps playing well next year and our offense takes a big step forward with better talent and consistency from the passing game and more speed so defenses can’t just play the short stuff.

We'll see what happens in the off season but damn that looks tough on paper. Although our schedule this year ended up being one of the toughest even though on paper it looked weak, so maybe the opposite effect happens this next year. Doubt it tho

Obviously NFC West looks like one of the tougher divisions in the NFL.
NFC West teams
Seattle - always a pain in our ass and have an elite QB in Rusty
Rams - have to see what they do but they still have Aaron Donald and some talented players
Arizona - team that can definitely make a big step forward
NFC Division Winners
@ Saints - I think Drew Brees will be back which means they're still a highly dangerous team and we needed everything we had this year to beat them
Green Bay - hard to say where they will be next year but I imagine they'll be out for blood
Eagles - if they're healthy they're a tough team
AFC East teams
@ New England - I think Brady stays. I'll be trying to make it to this game assuming everything at home is good.
@ NYJ - hard to see where they will be next year but they have some talented players and some nice draft picks to improve on
Buffalo - playoff team, great D, glad we're getting them at home
Dolphins - finished strong and have a ton of draft capital to work with, will be a very different team when we see them.
NFC East
@Dallas - hot/cold every year it seems like
Washington - can they make a similar jump as what we had with their own stud elite OSU pass rusher at #2?
@Giants - also high draft picks to work with
I think the key for us is simple - stay healthy.
If we're healthy at key spots I think we can definitely make a run for it despite a pretty tough schedule on paper and yeah lack of cap space(I'm sure we'll use most of it on our own extensions/re-signings) and lack of draft picks leaves very little room for error.

There aren't enough players. lol With this defense I'm not concerned about elite pocket passers. It was proved they don't have what it takes. It's the mobile QBs that beat the 49ers this year. Those are the concerns for me that will carry over. I think the biggest mystery will be what the cowboys bring because they had the biggest shake up. Imagine of they traded to get Brady… :hmm:

Seattle I think we split games with again. Cardinals may be a split too. Saints could be a loss, Pats could be a loss.

Predicting the record at this point is fun but pointless. We have very little idea of what teams will look like next season.
For us it's fairly straight forward because we don't have a ton of key free agents. Even if they leave replacing them wouldn't be "easy" but it wouldn't completely destroy the team either.
Sanders - I mostly think we try to re-sign him due to the veteran leadership he brings but also because when you trade a 3rd and 4th round pick…you ideally want to get more than half a season out of that guy even if that guy helped you get to the SB(obviously would've been all good had we won) but his replacement wouldn't be that difficult to find given the talent in this WR class and just Taylor and Hurd getting healthy for us could get us to "fill" that spot.
Ward - Moore isn't the tackler that Ward is but he had his moments and could fill in until we find someone else either via FA or draft.
Garland - technically if Richburg is healthy he's a backup so clearly replacing him is just based on Weston getting healthy but his injury was pretty bad which is why I'd like for us to keep Garland.
Armstead - clearly the biggest, no pun intended, of our SB starting free agents. My guess is we find the room to tag him and either he's here or we trade him for some decent pick(s). But even if he left a starting DL of Bosa, Buckner, DJ Jones, Ford is still pretty sexy. The issue would just be depth and making sure we can unleash hell on opposing QBs all game long.

At the beginning of last year before I saw the talent actually work together I was excited for an 8-8 season. So I won't be guessing at all. LOL

I just hope we don't have a ****ing week 4 bye week and that maybe our schedule works to our favor as this year the opponents and the actual timing of the games and opponents was rough.

Trying to keep offseason conversation going…What is everyone's thoughts on Saleh? I know he gets a lot of hate and I'm not a hater but I really wish he would switch things up a little more. I've been saying this before I read this article which is pretty eye opening in terms of tendencies. I love how our defense played all year but I think it could have been even better if they threw in some more blitzing and perhaps some more variety.

This wasn't the first game where he refused to switch things up and a team came back in the 2nd half, saw the exact same coverages all game and drew up a play to exploit them. In other games we had key starters out so that was the excuse, but it was hard to hide it in the SB when we were healthy

What the defense does works and it works very well so most of the time it doesn't require changing. But the times you're going against elite offenses and they figure out where the holes are you gotta be flexible and able to adapt and stop them

It was a perfect storm with the offense not executing and missed calls gave KC O a huge amount of snaps in the 4th so the D had a big task ahead of them and were doing fine until that breakdown on 3rd and 15. You cannot let that play convert no excuses from the play call to the breakdown you don't let that happen.
I just think there are times when sticking to what works is key and times to throw in some changes and different looks, we rarely do so even tho often times when we do it's successful.

Saleh to me is too set in his ways. I get that simplicity with great players can get the job done(certainly worked for Seattle) but it bit us in the ass at times and definitely hurt us vs the Chiefs.
Hard to say if we blitz on 3rd and 15 it works out better but he didn’t account for our front getting tired in the 4th and refs not calling holding. Should’ve sent more so their holding can only work so much.

A little draft blurb….no way he falls to us IMO but if he’s even close, we have to find a way to get Henry Ruggs. Dude would be exactly what we need added to this offense. Great speed, can play all over and allow Kyle to draw up crazy plays that make defenses freak out from confusion and also threaten teams deep so they can cheat up in the passing game.
Unfortunately we may need to stike gold with the other guys. I’d be surprised if Ruggs isn’t the 3rd WR off the board at worst and likely top 20 pick if not top 15. We don’t have the ammo to move up for him either.

I would like to think that as much as the team has shown they have grown that the coaches (who are young in the league at their roles) and the players (who are also) will continue to learn and get better. I like that the youth (coaches and players) have shown so much resilience, with such a lack of veteran presence. I think that is the biggest thing that will serve this team moving forward.

I think learning, progressing, and staying hungry will no doubt keep them motivated. The optimist in me is going to say that this SB loss will be a blessing in disguise as these guys can now not reach the peak so early that they get too high on themselves and forget what it takes to get there. I want the team to sustain a high level of play and hopefully that includes multiple SB's and many many great seasons ahead. I think we have the foundation there to do that when you think of youth and vets and coaches that have experienced highs and lows, but not yet the ultimate high but still have a winning culture around the team.

Even if not a blitz perhaps a different look, even a minor wrinkle here and there to keep them on their toes. I'd have to say as much as Shanny gets credit (and it's well deserved) he does have his blips in coaching and I would say for Saleh as well, he's overrated but has done well to help the team this year with the defense no doubt.
Just really shows how impressive this Patriots run has been. 9 SB trips in 18 seasons!?
Good news for us is the bulk of our roster are young players. The secondary is the biggest question mark but it helps that our front 7 is so good as it can cover up for the deficiencies in the backend.
Definitely need to start trying to find Sherman's successor. Would be REALLY nice if Witherspoon finally got back on track and actually stayed there unlike last year. It seemed like it finally clicked for him early in the year but after he got hurt he was never the same.
I'm not going to overreact to Sherman getting beat a couple of times in the playoffs as some people are. The guy was still a pro bowler and a second team all Pro this year. He can still play, everyone gets beat at times. I'm sure he'll use this as motivation for sure.
I definitely want to see the offense take a big step forward. I think Jimmy having more time this offseason to work on actually playing QB and developing chemistry with our receivers will pay off big this year.
As always…staying healthy is key but that can be said for every team. KC loses Mahomes, Kelce and Chris Jones for the season and suddenly they're struggling to make the playoffs and certainly not going anywhere in the playoffs.

I have tuned out of everything football and sports since SB night. What have I missed in here?

I've moved on. I love the draft and free agency periods so i'm trying to catch up on all the potential prospects.

Genus that's why I said the optimist in me, I know the stats on winners and losers making it back but staying in contention is the goal. We have the FO, coaches, and team to do that moving forward I'd like to think.
I had to take a week off sports stuff but still couldn't stay away from hearing and seeing and reliving the game.
Sherm is still good but only going to get older, and I really hope Spoon can stay on his A game. Mosely played really well and I hope we keep him around. I think our FO will get things right and keep guys around that we need and hopefully find and draft some good talent out there. Getting some injured guys back and having players like Pettis maybe contribute will help too. Just want to fast forward to see it all play out.

Very curious what happens with Pettis but I’m not sure he can be counted on.
Right now at WR unfortunately we’re still very questionable but pretty quickly we could look pretty good there as well.
Deebo is a keeper for sure but outside of him there aren’t many known.
Bourne is probably the most consistent other WR we know outside of Samuel.
Sanders - Free Agent, who knows if he’s signed.
Hurd - unknown due to injury
Pettis - unknown due to awful sophomore season, coaches dog house
Taylor - unknown due to injury. Dude had a terrific camp and was our best WR by all accounts…total nightmare injury situation. May never be the guy he looked like with Jimmy.
James - some nice flash plays but unknown due to lack of snaps
Now assuming those guys are all healthy the one thing they lack is deep speed to make teams fear you. Goodwin was that for us but he’s a goner.
That’s why WR may still be the top need for us after everything.
Ruggs and Reagor are the guys I’d love us to draft. But the combine for us this year will definitely be one to watch. Getting speed at WR is key. And this draft will definitely produce some quality WRs. After spending some primo draft picks on WR via draft or trades do we dare ignore the strength of the class despite all our questions at the position? Or do we keep addressing it until it becomes a feared unit?
I wish this draft class was strong at corner and there are some decent ones but feels like WR, IOL or S is looking like it will be the best option at 31. Would like us to trade down so we can hit two of those needs before day 3.
