If you ask for the watches by their nick names….you sound like a flipper. *shrug* I've been told this by 2 separate ADs in separate areas of the east coast.

Also, sales brah said I should hold onto my OP39 because apparently it was discontinued? I was unaware.
DJ needs to be a fluted bezel or it just looks wrong. But that's my opinion.

Intredasting. I like the fluted bezel but would prefer something I could wear casually as well.

If you want a non-fluted bezel, save the coin and look for something such as the OP or Explorer. DJ, again to me, is more classy and elegant so with a non-fluted bezel it looks a little potato.

For me, told my AD if he got this combo, i'd be on my way in to the shop to purchase.

Or you could go for an AK

Looks nice. Your post has definitely made me reconsider (although I'm really in no rush to purchase so I have plenty of time to make a decision). This is the datejust 36 that I'm looking to purchase. Do you think this fluted version would be too much for a casual everyday wear?

It all depends on your taste. I think it's a very useful watch but it could be a little "blingy" for like jeans and a T. That's GMT/Sub/OP/AK/Exp1 territory in all reality. But a DJ without the fluted…might was well get an Explorer/AK/OP at that point. Best thing you can do is go talk to an AD. If youre in no rush, perfect. Because DJ combos are hit or miss. Meaning, if you want something specific it can be tough simply because there are a bajillion combos.

Thanks. The ones you recommended (Explorer/AK/OP) are all 39mm and up, correct? The reason I'm looking at a DJ 36 is because I want something smaller than my OP39. I'm not a fan of big dials since I have a skinny wrist.

Yeah. 40 and 41. The 36 is still solid though. I saw a wrist shot of one today and it got me thinking.

Finally starting to see some videos pop up with the actual OPs on wrist. Apparently the green is closer to the PR photos in bright direct sunlight, but goes darker indoors.

love how it looks in the second video (darker). strongly considering getting one, but will wait till i see it in person.

The more i think and look at pics….definitely may ask the AD to let me "See" a 36mm DJ if he gets one in. Put my Hamilton Khaki field auto on this weekend and remembered it's in the same neighborhood as far as size.

That's 38mm… slim dudes are irritated with the submariner going up ONEmm, and literally whining about a 2mm increase in the oyster perpetual. You're contemplating going 2mm DOWN from a 38? I mean… i'm not gonna say "das not it" but mane… das probably not it.

As annoying as i find watch collectors that think Rolex is the endall for nice watches. I have to say, seiko maximalists are the fuking WOAT

I stumbled on this by casually browsing watchrecon and one of the items linking back to a reddit sales page. On that note, saw mint Glashutte panomatic lunar for $6300. So fuking annoying when one of the watches you eventually want to get pops up for a great price but it's simply not next in line for what you want to acquire.

My favorite brand by far, but too rich for my peasant tudor and rolex blood at the moment.

I DO think **********s are stupid as fuk, but that dial detail is absurd. In the second pic, that bevel detail on the edges of the numerals and the slight brushed face on the surface of the numbers… THEN you take into account that subtle dial texture? Fuking insane.

Edit: wtf is tourbil.lon sensored? this forum is so fuking retarded sometimes.

This. Most of us mere mortals would be happy just to obtain the Lange 1 which you're not going to find for a penny under $25,000. One guy on here has one.

As for myself i'm still setting my eyes on the "poor man's Lange" (which is still $10,000 retail mind you). The Glashutte Panomatic Lunar (as opposed to the Lange 1). To be fair, I genuinely find some aesthetics of the Glashutte flat out better than the ALS. You also don't have to worry about losing out on brand recognition, because even if you were given an ALS no one outside side of Luxembourg real estate mogul or Austrian wealth manager would have any fuking clue what it is.

Yep. The Datograph Flyback is still my grail watch, but the Langematik Big Date is the more “realistic” grail watch.

+Quartz or mechanical?

Doesn’t matter. I think I tend to lean towards Quartz though.

+Sporty, formal or casual?

Sporty / casual. Something I can wear everyday with jeans and a t-shirt.

+Simple or complicated?

Something in between I guess?

+Budget?

Up to 1,000$.

+What watches have you already seen that you like the look of?

+Complications (Chronograph, moonphase, power reserve etc)?

Doesn’t matter.

2020 Clown world continues. DavidSW has the new Oyster Perpetuals up in black, blue, and the silver color for the price of a no-date sub/explorer2. Will be an icy day in hell before i pay 8400 for a fuking OP.

you'll want to search chrono24 for Oris. One of the better brands i can think of if $1000 is your limit.

so this sent further spiraling into the davidSW archives, which lead me to finding the Lange Odysseus which he's selling for a whopping $69,000 when retail was $28,000. To be fair, i can't find another on Chrono24, watch recon, or anywhere which is crazy.

That lead me to looking if there were poorman lange's on steel for us mere mortals… and alas, i forgot they totally do.

40mm. Satisfies my desire for my next watch to be in steel. Also does the "dress up or dress down" vibe I was hoping to get from DJ41. Definitely going to go hit up my AD to see how this looks in the flesh. Only tried it on with the leather strap and that was 2 years ago.
