That lead me to looking if there were poorman lange's on steel for us mere mortals… and alas, i forgot they totally do.

40mm. Satisfies my desire for my next watch to be in steel. Also does the "dress up or dress down" vibe I was hoping to get from DJ41. Definitely going to go hit up my AD to see how this looks in the flesh. Only tried it on with the leather strap and that was 2 years ago.
That navy blue dial……mother of god.

When I called Lange yesterday the lady told me they had an Odysseus in the store that I could check out if I came by. Not for sale though, but apparently nobody else has one in hand (except David apparently lol). After a little back and forth she said they were only for VVIPs. Also said they had some other cool stuff in there but it's already sold and the customers don't want anyone else touching them.

I don't blame them in the least bit. If i ever got in the position to spend 25, 50, 100k on a watch I don't want a bunch of randoms fingerprints and greasy armhairs on my chit either lol

Pleb brand. You can kinda say Glashutte is to Tudor as Lange is to Rolex, but that's not true for a couple reasons. Lange doesn't own Glashutte Original, but they are made in Glashutte Germany (along with the brand "Glashutte Original" and "Nomos").

Second, while they are "cheaper", the only thing that Rolex does better than GO is probably their bracelets. There's a reason Rolex doesn't do open case backs, because they don't detail their movements for chit. Then again that's not really their bag. Nor are complications (outside of the skydweller), that's why Rolex isn't considered in the "Swiss Trinity" (Patek, Vacheron, AP) despite destroying everyone in regards to popularity /endrant.

TLDR: Yes "Glashutte Original" is the pleb brand of A. Lange & Sohne

…as i stated earlier though. NObody you see on the street outside of a Luxembourgian Wealth Manager is going to know the difference.

Heck, Rolex doesn't even have a design on the solid back. I would disagree with you about the finishing though. They finish them quite well, they just don't add the fancy embellishments. 3235 below is nice. I believe I read somewhere a while back that the finishing for some of these watches i.e higher end Pateks etc makes up like 70% of the cost. Of course I can't find it now, so maybe I misunderstood or made it up.

When I said "They don't detail their movements for chit", i really meant "They don't detail their movements for chit considering where they sit in the watch community and how much they cost". I wasn't trying to insinuate that you bust open a Rolex case, and it looks like my brutish Oris ETA movement. That movement you posted clearly has some nice beveling and brushed surfaces.

But that's where Glashutte (given their rank/price) go kind of crazy. This is the back of that same GO Panoreserve i've been spamming

No one is arguing against rolex quality though. Particularly in regards to fit. I've never worn more comfortable watches. Also the msrp are around the same. 9 to 11k for the GO, though you're really going to buy them discounted to 8500 and we all know which brand is going to hold its value better.

Edit: I never considered buying the panoreserve on bracelet until this discussion broke out today. Just found out GO does microadjustrments on their bracelets. Will be trying this on in the flesh for sure.

Damn those are some good looking units.

I could see Rolex not doing much to "finish" movements. I mean why? No clear casebacks. Thats part of the reason i had to set the sapphire omega speedmaster down. Manual wind plus clear caseback. Goodness.

I get it, but for me if you're going for movement style/finishing, the German style is nice, but kind of boring. Basically just a bunch of giant bridges and plates with Geneva stripes. Go Swiss style manual with no rotor and hnnnnggggg

I'm telling you, the aqua terra was the watch I was looking at before I bought the Tudor Bronze. That was going to be my pickup, but when tudor released the bronze with the black dial, i loved the character of it too much.

I still prefer the older aqua terras with the date at 3oclock over the date at 6, but regardless it's a fuking perfect "dress up/dress down" watch.

The cherry on top is that while it doesn't attract Rolex attention, even the casual-est of people recognize Omega from the Olympics or something like that. Whereas with tudor… may as well be wearing a daniel wellington as far as brand recognition goes with common folk. Then again, same with GO and Lange lol

How did you like the overall fit compared to your airking? I've never tried on the AK but i did try on the explorer2. Didn't like the Ex2 look, but i'll be the first to admit they machined that piece flawlessly for maximum comfort.

Supposedly it’s another one of those watches that’s impossible to get. So will probably remain just as a want lol

I don't remember if it was my AD or a different one, but when I was there a few months ago they had two of them. Not sure if just a lucky coincidence or if maybe they're not that hard to get. I think it's more along the lines of tell them you want one, and they'll actually try to get you one (as opposed to just lying to you).

This. AD was joking about it when he brought out a sold DJ41 with romans and a non-fluted bezel. I just went…i dunno what it is about romans, but they just look meh and awkward to me. He joked and said, well to me it screams your "dad's" rolex.

Bro it's gorgeous. My problem is i dont want similar watches yet. The AK and it are different, but similar. If i was going to buy an omega right now it would be the Sapphire Speedy. Which they had, but said it's the only omega they dont discount basically. So i was like meh right now. But god dayum that Aquaterra with the blue accents just felt money. It's just too "similar" right now. Ive kinda told myself once i get into my new place, get all of the cash worked out, if they havent called about the DJ or BLNR, i may snag the speedy.

Compared to the AK, it's definitely lighter and more "elegant" feeling. The AK is the milgauss case so it's hefty on the wrist. But feels….very masculine? The aqua terra would be more "dressy" in my opinion. Not in a bad way. I was shocked how the bracelet felt too. The rolex oyster bracelets always looked a felt so good to me. This one was equally nice in person. It wouldnt be an every day watch though i think. With the polished links.

This watch mogs the DJ I thought I wanted. Seeing Wills pic of it doesn't really do it for me anymore. That Omega is stunning as well. Props for having the will power to not get it on the spot. When you're gonna drop that kind of money it's best to make sure it's the one you really want. So many nice watches out there.

I wanted the Aqua (but it was too similar to the AK right now for my limited collection) and the Speedy (saving the coin for the DJ or BLNR in all reality). Just trying to be patient.

Some other "smart" financial things i do before i drop this kinda coin on a watch again too.

Pretty much why I had to reluctantly cross off the Speedmaster Grey Side of the Moon from my next acquisition list.

Current
Oris Artix Chrono - Beefy 44mm chronograph on leather
Tudor Bronze - Beefy 43mm 3hander on leather

Next
Omega Grey Side - Beefy 44mm chrono on leather????? nah.

Literally starving for something remotely sleek on steel. Has to be a DJ41 config, new OP, or that glashutte panoreserve on bracelet. If I fell onto the jubilee blnr at msrp i wouldn't turn my nose up at that either but just lol at that happening. The panoreserve is the most visually enticing to me by far though.
