Saw this watch and instantly knew i have found BigRangs' grail piece. Since i know for a fact he is a huge tourByon movement fan, glashutte has released one where the movement isn't even visible from the front. There's stealth wealth, and then there's retardation.

Heading down to Florida for the week. Gonna stop in Jacksonville one day and check out the Rolex boutique while I’m in town and see if they have more to look at than the ones in Ga.

How does Chrono24 work? Why are so many of the (new) watches so much cheaper than retailer stores like Nordstrom/Macys, etc? Are they all legit?

^^ What he said

What watch are you looking for? If it's discounted on c24 you can probably get a similar deal from an AD.

This. Always worth it to ask.

Go into a solid AD and try on some nicer watches like Omega or Rolex right after trying a local dept store.

And i don't want want to be tonedeaf and pretend everyone can afford or even wants a ROWWWWWWWLEX, but geez. Tag, Hamilton, Tissot, Oris, Tudor, Breitling, Longines… all of these brands can get you an ETA movement with solid finishing for under $2k

Yup. I can tell when i toss on my Longines and wind it up again. Even my "cheapie" Hamilton just has a different fit and finish feel than a coworker's citizen i tried on the other day.

Quick question for the watch experts.

I have a Rolex deep sea for my nice watch and a Japanese g shock for a beater.
Had a Apple Watch series 5 and lost it in the ocean swimming this summer that I wore a lot.

Not sure I want to buy another apple one.

What is the best everyday automatic watch under $500 if I don’t get something else lll end up with the apple series 6.

I have a large wrist and am a big person.

A variation of the Hamilton Khaki is the typical response to this, but the seiko presage line has some really solid options around that price point as well.

Actually the Hamilton is one I’ve been looking at in 40mm. Has the day feature. I’m leaning towards a leather strap just for something different.
A lot of the articles I’m reading like the orient bambino because of the price and what you get but I’ve never heard of those. I’m guessing it’s a piece of shiit though.

idk anything about Orients really or their build quality. But from what i've seen they are good looking watches.

I see a lot of them on the watches subreddit.

-but I agree with below I'd wear the Rolex pretty much full time instead of a cheapo.

I really like my Hamilton Khaki Ti, as well as my G-Shock. But…… Wear that Deepsea and enjoy it.

My Sub ND is my daily, and don’t wear anything else unless am I’m going out in a poor foreign country.

The more I’m reading about orient the more I like it. They have a Japanese movement from Seiko and look much more expensive than what they cost.
I don’t want to wear the Rolex full time or I’ll get bored of it. I just wear it on weekends.

I love the deepsea but only want to wear it on weekends or I may get bored and flip it. I got a great deal on it from DavidSW brand new a couple of years ago.

I’d love to just get one more cheap automatic watch and be done instead of a Apple Watch.

Orient, Hamilton, and Seiko are going to be 10/10 options. Get a bracelet, and then an aftermarket leather strap so you have the versatility.

I agree. I can’t believe how cheap the orients are for what you get. It’s basically a throw away if something happens.

I feel like this only happens with watches that are fundamentally boring to begin with. I've literally been wearing my Tudor Bronze daily since January and still love it. The character of the patina'd bronze case, the running "snowflake" seconds hand, the rotating bezel that lets me time stuff. I love it.

If you buy watches you truly fanboy for, you should be in good shape.

I prolly have ADD. I’ve already sold watches that I got bored with. Rolex’s and a Pam.
The deepsea was what I really wanted and I still love it but I’ll get bored with anything on my wrist if I daily it for a while.
Eventually I’d like to add another Rolex but it will be a while. I’m retired and on a fixed income.

The smaller Hamilton field is more desirable because of the 80 hour reserve but the 40mm one would prolly be better for me.

Went to a few stores yesterday on Rodeo.

Gearys Rolex: Absolutely chit unless you want a < 36mm ladies watch. They didn't even have a Day Date 40. They had a TT DD36. The guy next to me had a new black OP36 with the double sticks that he showed me

AP: Absolutely nothing unless you want a dress watch.

Patek: Same as AP.

Panerai: Pretty much anything you want, and surprisingly nice stuff. They have a 40mm now in a 1950 case that is hnnng and supposedly thinner. I was very close to making an impulse purchse but I controlled myself. Discount wasn't even close to what my AD would give me.

Despite the love and hype for the Nautilus, I actually see Patek to be more popular for their dress watches. Walking into AP and seeing nothing but dress watches though… that's rough. Would love a Patek 5212A but too rich for my blood. MSRP is 33k i think
