Beautiful piece, I’m a sucker for complications. Would rep but on r/c. And I feel you on the visibility thing. My daily watch has silver hands + a silver dial. I hate to admit, it but I can’t see chit at times.

Also in4 pics of the obnoxiously sized speedy professional box when it arrives. Just now noticing they include a loupe as well. Kind of hilarious when there's fuk all for dial detail on the speedy pros and it's a closed caseback but cool to have i'll admit.

Edit: I wonder if anyone has ever put a steel bracelet on the Grey Side of the Moon… something tells me that would look sick as fuk.
You can get one with a sapphire crystal and clear caseback

I concur that rolex has not only monopolized but mastered the $8,000 to $15,000 steel watch space, but that's where i've gotta draw the line.

You almost have to laugh at how inept they are on releasing anything desirable on leather. To the point where their best selling dress watch is a steel watch lol (Datejust obvi). Honestly it's as bad as Jaeger Le Coultre making a desirable steel watch. JLC steel watches always look SO fuking retarded for some reason. Funny how each brand has mastered the opposite but cant buy the other to save their life.

Looking at the other major brands, it's kind of interesting though. I don't care what anyone says, if the nautilus was made by Breguet or Blancpain, no one would look twice at the fuking thing. It's a goofy lookin watch and sells strictly because PP is on the front. This theory is solidified by how potato looking the aquanaut is. Patek is a dress watch master as far as i'm concerned.

Audemars Piguet is the opposite with the royal oak obviously running things, and I think this is why I have to give a little more credit to A Lange. I was chitting on the odysseus when it initially came out, but even though it's not as quirky and unique as the sky-dweller or as sexy as the Royal Oak, if you look at actual vids as opposed to photos… it's kind of perfect???? i dunno, looking forward to what else they release on steel eventhough i can't buy one.

Poor vacheron, never getting love despite making god-tier watches across the board. Sorry about the rant. My monday night evening glass of whisky turned into 3

I agree with a lot of this. I could never get into JLCs on steel, even though they apparently make really nice bracelets. Rolex really should be divided into areas/what you like about them. Like a lot of people, I’m kind of turned off by the whole “your money ain’t enough, get on a waitlist” thing, because its a cringe/transparent way to say “your money is enough, but please spend a lot of it on things you don’t want first”. 0 class in that imo. A few drinks in myself lol.

That's where i'm at. Sky-Dweller is out of my budget, so for retail there's exactly 2 rolex I would like to buy at msrp. SmoothBezel/Jubilee DJ41 with white or blue dial, and (as of 2 months ago) the jubilee BLNR gmt.

The blnr jubilee would be the best watch to get as it would give me the jubilee wrist presence and satisfy my need for a gmt and date function. The DJ41 would look nice, but it's the exact same price as an omega grey side of the moon which i think i would fawn over more.

I could go on davidsw and get the DJ41 right now for retail (when you consider the additions of tax), but due to who my girlfriend knows, I feel like i actually have a chance at getting the blnr at retail. So i'll play the game.

to your point though, i think rolex hype gets so ridiculous at times. I have almost negative desire to own the new "kermit" but it's already listing at 20k. u w0t m8?

There are a ton of JLC's i would love to absolutely have from a dress watch perspective.

AP, i was about to make a visit to ATL and pay a visit to the boutique. Then i realized how rough i am on watches and decided against it based on what i had read.

Agreed. Especially when you see guys on youtube who have a black sub and can get a legit green bezel if you really wanted the "kermit", yeah it's kind of cheating but nobody would ever know. The BLNR is a much better looking watch imo.

The hulk had more of a presence compared to the kermit. But I still think I'd go with the BLNR.

The DJs have been growing on me as well. I really like the Jubilee DJ with the black dial or Rhodium. One of those or the BLNR which would be a grail watch for me.

Gonna be a few years at least before I manage to get one though. Hopefully you guys get yours soon.

Speedy Pro was delivered today. Much easier to read this dial.

I can't justify paying $14K for the Ed White, but it's the perfect size for me and I've been drooling over it ever since I first saw it. Hnnnnng

Probably the most triggering thing i've read itt considering this watch is listed at "39.7" mm. If the traditional 42mm speedmaster pro is too large, then certainly the 39mm speedmaster reduced would be what you're looking for at a microfraction of the price.

This. Also, the 42mm size definitely doesn't translate in person. Im super anti anything over 40, but i put it on and was shocked at the 42mm size. It's "designed" to look smaller. And it accomplishes this.

Super fire. The best part is it is completely opposite of him as a person. If it was some swaggy, gel-haired millennial bro, it would be kind of lame. But the fact that he's a public train wreck who talks about being in credit debt from buying watches he can't afford, going on sextrips to SE Asia, and begging for donations online… i don't know, he's just the best public train wreck on youtube in my opinion.

Don't ask me why he did this to himself, but he uploaded the video he put on a SE asia dating website to youtube. You will find nothing more difficult to watch on the internet. It's so cringy.

Both are 42mm. The Speedy Pro wears smaller and is fine for me. Or the Hamilton wears larger. I have a 40mm Hamilton Auto Chrono that looks better on my wrist than the Hamilton shown here or the 39mm Omega 3523.30 Day-Date I used to own.

This is the perfect comparison to show how case design can make a watch "wear small". The hamilton is ALL dial with maybe 1.5 to 2mm of casing thickness. This makes the dial look gigantic.

The omega has those beveled edges which looks to be 2 to 3 mm, then the tachymeter itself makes up some of the case so that's another 2mm shaved off. Despite a 42mm case size, your eyes are only processing 38mm of dial.

Can't go wrong with a speedy, IMO.
You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.

Edit: This AD is also the Rolex dealer im chatting with now that im in VA. So it would only help on that end.

Let's see how good you all's eye is. My girl follows nobody celebs on ig and she just sent me this screen shot of Scott Disick with the caption "what is this abomination?". Honestly it took me a solid 60 seconds of staring at it before i figured out what it was. I'll put results in the spoiler, but what did you think it is?

Spoiler!
Mind nuked, but pretty sure this is the first Iced out Tudor (GMT). Fuking embarassing, but the giveaways:

- the hour markers at 10 and 11 are visible enough to see they're of the "dive" variety. so could be omega too but the case says otherwise

- no crown guard

- gmt hour hand kind of sticks out, and the bezel is really particular.

- finally the bracelet and lugs are particular, googled tudor gmt annnnnd yup. bingo
