there is exactly zero point zeroty-zero chance of anyone identifying it as or even giving a fuk if it was a fake seiko. Every pic i've seen of the Alpinist shows the "K" looking kind of weird anyway. If it works, and you like it, keep it.

One that I have is solar powered and syncs the time to the atomic clock, so basically you never have to do chit to it. They also don't pretend to be more than they are, unlike a chitty quartz fashion watch that should cost $20 but they put a Michael Kors logo on it and charge a few hundred for it.

TLDR: Inexpensive, indestructible, functional, doesn't try to be something it's not.

I love my JLC triple calendar, but one question has been on my mind a lot lately-would a moon-phase look better than a sub-seconds dial? I think I know the answer deep down. That said, the blue dial is beautiful, and a moonphase complication might cross my mind less if my dial looked like the one on that Reserve De Marche. The placement of those sub-dials is awesome. It’s hard to go wrong with a watch like that, it just comes down to what you specifically want from the piece.

Not here to commit blasphemy, but i think there's something to be said for "less is more" in the defense of the aqua terra.

- i hate the running seconds subregister that JLC does on some pieces like this one. The 4-quadrant look makes it appear unfinished. As if they're thinking of putting something in the sub-register but it's yet to be determined.

- i don't hate, but dislike how they tried to create dial balance by triangulating the 3 subregisters, with one of them being the power reserve indicator and one of the others being that running seconds display that i hate. I prefer how glashutte/A. Lange offcenter their power reserve indicators.

- i think the aqua terra is about as "go anywhere do anything" as one can get. while i think the midnight blue strap on this JLC is inherently dressy. With all that considered i prefer the one Adam posted below.

I like JLC, and have even thought to myself that if it was the only brand I could ever own I would be happy with that. But that model looks like something that would be on jomashop for 70% off. Just so much off with it, much of which WILLW covered. If you care so much about seconds, don't you at least want to know what the actual second is? Just lots of weird shapes and patterns that don't go together.

Sadly, I think it’s just a crystal with a blue tint/reflecting blue sky in the right light with a black dial (IWC style lol). The actual enameled blue dial ultra thin moon phase has lines on the dial that I think they were better off leaving out. Markers/style is a bit different as well.

PO was first big watch purchase and i probably over researched the whole topic, but the consensus of everything i gather was it was better to keep the watch moving when not being worn rather not. i dunno.

Yea i finally did that lol. it just baffled me that a company with such a one off purchase like a watch winder would assault me with the spam emails.

Im sure there is *some* benefit to keeping it wound. But…it's probably infinitesimal. I could see a winder on something with 100 complications that are a pain in the ass to set each time if you wear the watch once a week or so and it dies every time.

Yes planet ocean. What else would it be? Lol

Edit, found an email from the omega store in NYC. If you let the watch sit for 3 months or more, it may "dry out", 6 months or more without being wound and it would need a service. Better off keeping it on the winder.

So a sealed, waterproof watch is going to "dry out?" Never bought it. Maybe if it sat *years* without moving at all.

Wonder if this email was secretly stashed with a link to a watch winder…

in my opinion you'd need to have a 3 deep watch collection MINIMUM to justify a watch winder to not be wearing a watch for 3 months??? yeah that's asinine.

*Looks at my Two tone sub that sits in the safe most of the time…* Have been breaking it out as a weekend watch here recently though.

Part of me wants to sell it while prices are so hot, and just put it away to get the blnr later.

And I also have a watch winder that I got as a present lol. Never use it because when I’m not gonna be wearing it I keep it in the safe.
