Anyone have a list of the best, trusted online dealers for preowned watches? Thinking US based only atm. Currently flipping through the inventory lists of Delray Watch

delray watch is solid, i know that's federico's shop.
thewatchbox.com probably will have the best inventory but their pre-owned are the most expensive.
davidsw.com is a happy middle ground, decent inventory, solid reputation and competitive pricing.

I make those statements based off the pricing of omega products. all rolex resale is gonna be pretty stiff and obnoxious, but i feel like you can get a good gauge on pricing when based on speedmasters and seamasters

It's not cause someone is asking so (ridiculously) much for it that it's worth that. If I chit in a bucket and put it for sale for a million dollars, does that make it worth one milli? The box itself is worth around $100

Spoiler!
This is a 14k solid gold LeCoultre women's cocktail watch. Not a Vacheron. You'll need to grab some pics of the clasp of the bracelet as well (to see if it has the JL logo, and for the 14k stamp on the inside of the clasp). But since it's an integrated bracelet, it's also 14k gold. It looks to be in excellent condition. That being said, vintage women's watches aren't very popular, especially tiny models like these aren't very popular. (the more modern 1960's+ models are more popular and easy to sell). This watch is mostly worth the gold value + $200-400 for condition and box. You can get more for it, but it'll be a very tough sale.

As for your confusion with the names: LeCoultre is Jaeger-LeCoultre. They used to sell in the US market exclusively under the LC name since they figured it would do better than the German sounding name. So what with all the name confusion? Back in the day most Swiss watchmakers just shipped raw movements to the US, and the solid gold or gold filled cases got made locally in the US. This was done to avoid hefty import fees on (gold) luxury watches. JLC also did this (but also Omega, Longines and many others). For the manufacturing and distribution of JLC in North America, the Vacheron-Lecoultre company was formed, which in itself was a subsidiary of Longines-Wittnauer. These also distributed Vacheron-Constantin, Longines & Wittnauer. That's why you see all names mixed in marketing, boxes, and even inside cases of the time. But this watch is NOT a Vacheron, it's just a LeCoultre. Probably cal K840 inside. Value I'd put around $650-1200, depending on gold weight.

Congrats. Love the speedmaster.

I'm guessing they were just holding the sub and bluesy for someone else?

Yup. Before i even said i wanted the speedy as the early b day present he said "hey check this out."

I tried on this and the blue aqua terra (blue/gray) that i like too. But was shocked how i just loved the speedy. It's the sapphire sammich model so it's a clear caseback. The movement is beautiful.

The speedy is just a masculine looking watch, especially compared with an Aqua Terra which is a little more classy looking. If I got another Omega I think it'd be the speedy for sure. Looks really good on a brown leather strap too.

Randomly popped into the AD i almost bought my Tudor bronze from. Told them I wanted to look at DJ41s and a GMT. Obviously didn't have any GMTs, but the owner let me try on his CHNR just to see how it would look sizingwise. I loved it.

- Put down my interest for the BLNR. Not remotely hopeful.

- Also put in an order for a replacement strap for my tudor bronze.

- They tried to "play the game" with me when one of the chicks heard i was looking for DJ41s. Sales lady 1 said "sorry we don't have any", Sales lady 2 goes "oh we got one that just came in, you can show him that!". it was laughable. Literally THE least desirable DJ41 configuration. Black dial, oyster bracelet, smooth bezel. Basically the model they throw at walkin casual housewives hoping to buy a piece for their surgeon/lawyer husband's birthday.

I did briefly look in the Tudor case, and i thought it was interesting that they had 2 GMTs in stock. At one point Tudor GMTs were almost as hard to get as submariners.

On the plus side, this was the first time i was able to see a smooth bezel 41 in person. Not as "fat" as I was afraid of and i'm all but certain the white dial/jubilee bracelet/smooth bezel combo is the one for me. That said, i'm likely going to go stop in the omega boutique some time this week and get a grey side of the moon on wrist again. If it's as special as I remember it, i might just forego the whole rolex song and dance and get this grey side since it's one of my grails.

after some thought I am going to sell all my watches except my Omega AT and just roll with a two watch collection for now.

any recommendations on 1.5K or below? leaning towards possibly a used Bond Seamaster.

What other watches are in your collection? Regardless, the Omega Aqua Terra is probably 1 of 5 watches that you could argue is a candidate for a "one watch collection". There's virtually zero occasions where the AT is out of place. Anything else is just icing on the cake.

$1,500 is an odd price point to pick up something for a two watch collection. I'm not sure what to recommend for that.

green Alpinist
Tissot Seastar
two Seiko Presages
some other Tissot dress watch

nothing special and won’t net me too much but I don’t wear them all enough.

was thinking maybe a Longines Hydroconquest for a diver?

If you plan to just keep the AT and something else, id go for maybe a chronograph? Might have to add a bit more cash and get one of the speedmaster automatics. Lot of reduced and special editions available around $2k. Other than that, at $1.5k, I can't really think of any bases that the AT doesn't already cover. Been looking at reduced speedmaster a lot lately myself. Having the darndest time trying to decide if I want to buy that or something more minimalist like a nomos tangente this year

Maybe something more dressy for 1.5k assuming you actually wear it. Otherwise I agree that the AT can do it all and there's no point in forcing another purchase.

The Omega leather strap was 600 for the strap and the omega clasp when I called a boutique a week or two ago asking about it. Not sure if the rubber strap is more expensive than the leather, but I wouldn't think so. Still expensive no doubt. But off market for a good leather strap I was looking at around 400 anyways if I wanted the clasp with it. So if I did get a leather strap I'm just gonna get the omega one.

I don't ever plan on selling my Omega AT so I know I'd probably regret not getting the factory one down the line.

there’s a lot of fakes around that look exactly like the OEM but I’m sure it’s garbage quality and I can’t fathom wearing a 5K watch with a ****ty $50 band lol

No fuking clue how i missed that. Congrats.

I just got back from the AD myself. Put in the order to replace my Tudor Bronze strap. He briefly tried to pry for my interest on that new tudor day date with the hideous bezel. I shut that down quick af as my ETA days are behind me.

I DID however ask him what people thought of the new 41 OPs and said they've been selling quickly. Followed up and told me he's going to give me a call when the next one comes in. I was kind of disgusted at first because I want the BLNR. Like first you offer me a poverty ETA tudor, and then a fuking OP? That is of course until I got home, hopped on chrono24 and saw how much the new OPs are going for. Holy fuk, $5900 retail and reselling for $10k+

I'll bite on that reason alone and just throw the joker in a safe until it's safe to sell.
