The patinad/dirty looking bronze case definitely compounds that sentiment lol, I love it though. My closest friend is a simple corporate america guy (proudly wears a shinola as his "good" watch) and his girlfriend is a public school teacher. Not trying to be waving the jubilee in their face every time we go out for drinks. Seems slightly poor taste when I can wear this, packed with all kinds of "horological goodies", but far less brazen to middle america.

Anyone I'd actually care to take notice/interest on my Rolex, would recognize the Tudor Bronze as well. In the future I would like to have a JLC Reverso take the Tudor's place for that "stealth nice watch", then move the Tudor to full blown "yardwork" beater. Thankfully my girl comes from a wealthy family and doesn't get phased by any of this chit cause shes seen it all.

I dunno what it is. Nothing makes you rage harder than have a nice thought out post and get that. I had a nice discussion type up for one of will's posts, and got it. Just about fisted myself.

Thats why i wish my AD down here had tudor (or maybe i wish they didnt?). They have a couple of offerings i like. The BB…39?…in blue? Hnnnng. That bronze 2 register chrono you posted, another yes. Especially on leather.

I wouldnt overthink showing off too much. The amount of people who actually notice my AK or speedy is miniscule. He may just not be a WIS given his honesty about "american" shinola. Hell even at work, im not some wall street banker, and work around people constantly who arent as fortunate as i am. Those that have noticed, or really have said something, have been more intrigued and wanted to see it because they never really have.

But we know your snobbery knows no bounds in breadth and scope. You probably showed up to dinner with a ROLEXROLEXROLEX hat and a green shirt with gold crown.

- I don't know if I would ever go through my AD for tudor purchases. Because i'm not sure that would even count as relevant spend to work up the priority list. No more than me just being likable to the SAs anyway. You can find FAR better discounts on watchrecon and jomahshop. The tudor chronograph is $7,000 retail but i've seen it list on grey close to $5,000. Don't think i could get THAT steep a discount from an AD

- I'm gonna bust out that rolex hat for the lulz somewhere at some point but i havent decided where.

Haha I paid double what the AD sold this for in 2012! It’d be different if I was buying from the AD and storing in production ceramic subs.

I could definitely tell a change in tune with my SA (who apparently is the floor manager for the shop) when i said "Actually im here to pick a birthday present, lets see the speedy and the aqua terra." He was super friendly and chatty before, but just starts dropping different terms just like the SA in NY did. Suddenly it's "im sure we can take care of you on your other stuff here soon" type comments.

And lol, if i got a hat from an AD i dont think i couldnt wear it and not feel like a clown. Or be on 100% troll mode and wear it, and the speedy.

Can confirm. My BLNR request went from "Well that's an allocated piece so you would need to have some purchase history with us to realistically get it among our other clients"

to "I'm very confident we'll be able to get you that blnr. Just a little patience". Yeah you fuking better. I took a two-tone Datejust that wasn't a blue or rhodium dial off your books. Not exactly a stampede of buyers knocking down your door to pick those up.

I legitimately laughed out loud. I love the "…Luxury…" print on the back. That's so on brand for my trolly online snob persona. Might steal twovalve's recommendation and go out with that jersey, hat, and my Tudor.

Yup. They didnt specifically say "you need purchase history" or any hints a that. But definitely as soon as i bought the speedy it was a change in tune. Or more….what he started saying then was interesting.

Years ago Breitling sent me a hat and I thought, nice, I'll wear this to golf. One day when I was on my way out and grabbed it to wear. Took a few steps and stopped and thought about it, and put it back down. lol.

Unless you're part of the C-Suite or at least vice president level of those companies, it's probbbbably best we leave the hats at home lol.

In other news, I forgot to mention. When i was picking up my tudor strap, store manager told me Patek and Rolex are still doing spring releases in 2021 at the same time eventhough they were delayed this year. Though instead of going to switzerland they're doing some type of virtual showing first to the ADs. Going to be in April some time. That'll be cool to look forward to.

Can someone explain the fascination with watches stamped “Tiffany & Co.”? It ruins the original face and screams “designer” to me.

Peons or people fascinated with "Status" think Tiffany and Co is special maybe? Definitely not understated.

My girl said Tiffany&Co is only just above michael kors and coach. T&C is more of a "college level flex" for women. Not something to be bragging on in late 20's and 30's unless you're from PickupTruck, Indiana.

Thats a good way to put a bow on it. To me it's a "flex" to wear a logo or anything overly ostentatious like that anyway, and see it being a slightly higher end than your general entry level dept store.

Im a big fan of understatement and not being in your face about "status" or "Class." Big believer in if you actually have it youre humble and dont belittle people over inanimate status or objects. Love the book "Class' by Paul Fussell. Maybe because i agree with it but it's also just a good way to be.

Back in the day, Tiffany was actually the retailer of those watches and sold them in their stores. They would print their name on them and sell them that way. They also sold Patek and a bunch of other brands, but I don't think I've seen anything other than those with the Tiffany branding. I think Tiffany also may have been much more prestigious back then, not sure though. I don't know why they're so desirable other than that vintage watch people look for every little unique detail to hang on to, which derives the value up.

I finally got my Smurf back yesterday. Feels good to have it on the wrist again. I missed it.

Was wearing the Daytona during this month and I really dont like wearing it nearly as much as I like wearing the Smurf.

New Bezel, New Hands, Serviced and Certified/Authenticated. Feels good to know that nothing in this watch is broken or counterfeit. Good as new.

This is not true. The thing with Tiffanys is they have a lot of cheaper pieces for the younger crowds.

Different from the other expensive designer brands that only has expensive stuff.

Almost like saying michael kors and coach is like cartier.

Disagree. Having cheap products cheapens your brand. Case and point, Longines.

Cartier ditched the "Must de Cartier" watches for this exact reason. If you go try to buy a gift for your lady at Chanel, there's no such thing as "entry level" or "for the young crowd" anything. You're going to pay $4,000 (minimum) for an ultra tiny bag and you're going to be happy to have the privilege.

Tiffany&Co is more expensive than Cartier here. So Id have to disagree with that.

Also I like Coach. They have excellent man purses. Everytime I pass by I always gotta go in and see if they have new man bags.

Michael Kors is just cheesy though, its atleast 2 tiers below Tiffany

I wish longines would limit some. I really like some of their newer stuff. Some of the "old school" JLC knock off chronographs look pretty damn nice.

For example. This watch looks 10/10 in person:

Or the heritage military.

New G Shock GA flavors just rolled out…. tempted to buy the grey one before it's out of stock.

Edit: Bought it

Don't have to convince me. I almost had a Longines instead of an Oris for my first watch, but as I was agreeing to earlier with the powerranger fellow, ultimately you want your first significant watch spend to look substantial or "cool", so I went with the oris chronograph.

I was looking at the Longines railroad or whatever it was called. At the time, I was taking a lot of "eurostar trains" seeing pretty stunning european railroad hubs like Gare Du Nord, and St. Pancras Station on a somewhat regular basis and I thought that would be a cool watch to have to remember that time in my life.

And honestly… now that i'm looking at this again i may try to source one. It appears they've discontinued this model and this was the very first watch I became obsessed with so I might have to circle back and get it.

I do like that grey one, but I don't feel i'd wear it enough when I would likely wear my tudor wherever i'd wear the gshock.

lmao at the edit.
