A lot of Tudor Chronographs go for $5500 all day long. I'd have to see it in person but an Omega modern chronograph, with (presumably) rolex quality machining and design in the bracelet. Yeah that's every bit of 7 grand. I'd bet anything that bracelet upgrade alone causes the prices to hold firm and you'll have a much harder time getting the usual 20% discount.
Im sure you could still get a discount, it just wont be initially, but who knows. If they just did the bracelet upgrade youre looking at 500 or so from that alone probably.

meh they really didn't change much on a classic. not a huge fan of the bracelet as it reminds me of a day date bracelet, but i guess its nice enough.

main gripe is with the "upgraded" movement. Really you increased the power reserve from 48 to 50 hours? that is hardly noticeable. looks like they were just looking to increase the price

I agree this bracelet and clasp looks a lot better, one thing that always bothered me about omega watches were the lack of tapering on the bracelet, so this is an improvement in my book… Although speedys always look so good on different straps

@twovalvekid - How do you find winding your speedy? do you find it difficult/awkward to wind?

Nope. With only one thing to set (the time…duh) it's easy. And it winds without having to pop the crown out.

Bought my first Seiko for Christmas, picked up the Samurai, I like the tooling on the bezel and crown, and the overall weight of the case. Only thing I don't like is the band rattles a bit too much for my liking.

I don't know either lol

Good lord, i have a headache just imagining the uproar. Large part of the community bitched a fit when Rolex discontinued the 39 op for the 41. 2mm difference… "rOleX iS NOT f0r enTHUSiasTs anYm0rE!"

If they blew up the speedmaster professional to 44mm? jesus christ…

fixed your poverty embed skills. That's a cool case and dial for sure, a rattly bracelet sounds annoying though. I imagine it would be a fairly simple effort to replace with something more substantial.

Lel. If you look back i said the same thing.

In person, it doesnt look bad, and in pictures i think it blows it up more and makes it stand out. I put one on, and went oh fuark. Month later i bought it.

Reason 1,432,456,031 to look at a watch in person.

I think a lot of people calmed down when they saw them (shocker) and noticed that it wasnt actually 1-2mm larger.

The larger trend is something i cant get behind. 40-42 is about my max i would want. Giant watch just screams douchebag to me.

Is the current 42mm case similar proportionally to the OG 42mm case? Because the average man and his wrist are a lot bigger than they were in the 60s.

I'd say inflation is necessary for historical consistency, but I've also got a wrist that excludes me from a lot of things I like so fuk how it fits everyone else.

I dunno boyos, I think when the white gold and rose gold hits the market and youtubers (Tim Mosso) starts releasing videos of real life wrist impressions… Omega may have successfully launched their first successful "hard to get hype model". You can't tell me the rosegold speedy isn't holding its own here.

The one thing that might be holding it back is that the bracelet looks completely "brushed" with no high polish. The rolex 126715 above has brushed end links, and polished center links that walks the perfect balance of subtlety and flash.

Based on……is there actual data to support this?

Considering we've progressed into a service style economy with significantly less manual labor.

Certainly does look nice, $35k though. The yellow gold 50th anniversary released a couple years ago were limited to 1k pieces and they still seem to be trading around retail, rose gold is a different story now but nevertheless I think unless the supply is super dry these will be money pits. Will be interesting to see though, perhaps even the stainless steel model will be hard to get

For reference in terms of the all brushed bracelet:

Edit: Id be pissed if i bought this lol, that new rose gold moonwatch looks 10x better

You can tell it's close to fully wound as it gets tight (since no clutch given no automatic). It's not as water resistant because it doesnt have a screw down crown, but that's fine. It's still pool worthy, and you can wind it super simple on wrist.

And….looooove the rose gold. But it just feels meh thinking about spending 35k on a speedy. At that price, go get a DD.

Yeah bro, I'm almost tempted to try find a birth year one and just have it as a watch to throw on some different straps.

It's tough when you consider what that rose gold speedy is up against at the same price point, and the 60th anniversary DD40 is my grail so thats a no brainer for me

Thinking of switching it from my Apple watch, I've been into watches on and off over the past decade and this has always been my favorite and I can finally afford it. Two tone submariner in blue/gold, I think they're ~$10k used. How does the value of a luxury watch change over time - would the value stay about flat at $10k?

1: I hate this watch. I think it's the tackiest, least classy watch Rolex makes. UK bros and men over 50 seem to love it though.

2: If you find a submariner bluesie (116613LB) for $10,000 it would be as fake as the one you posted in that image. Market is $13,000 to $16,000

3: If you found a beat to schit (real) one for 10k, it would likely hold 10k as it's worth. Just about any datejust, daydate, or rolex sports model is going to hold at least msrp assuming you don't beat it to hell.

crown and caliber has one closer to the price you're looking to pay but it's definitely pre-owned and i'm pretty sure it's a couple years old. To your other point though, should hold value decently.

The one in your picture is the older 5 digit 16613LB, so you'll get the aluminum bezel insert and chitty clasp (as opposed to the 116613LB, larger case, ceramic bezel, top notch clasp). For the six digit, you're looking more like 15k. Also agree with W1LLW that I've never been a fan of either, but a lot of people love them. I will say they look better in person, but just not for me.

Embed skills of peace, but Oris is a great swiss watch in the Sub 2k category. My first watch was an Oris Artix GT Chronograph. Solid ETA movement, applied indices for the hour markers, and good dial finishing. Not all, but they make several pieces that are every bit as good as a Breitling. Great bang 4 buck if you're purchasing from jomashop and not paying retail.
