Ponder looking like the best QB on the roster. Throwing some very accurate balls. It would be a shame if we cut him instead of Kap.

Gonna watch the game here in a bit…think it's safe to say Driskel made it easier for the team to stash him on the PS with that showing

I watched the first half but went to bed. Saw Driskels stat line… PS bound

Anything stood out?

Kap played ok. Don't think he did enough to unseat Gabbert but maybe he regained some trade value? Probably not. I'm less pissed at him but he still a douchebag that needs to go.

Kap played ok. Just remember he played with 2/3's and people who will not make the team, but then again he played against the same thing with the chargers. He will make the team

I am just happy to see him put his money where his mouth is. For the most part I am over it and I am just ready for football.

On a new subject I am interested in the final cuts this week. There are a few people who stood out during the preason Blair, and Rush but is there room for them? The secondary is going to be interesting. There are a good number of guys fighting for a few spots. I think that will be a good thing and they may be pretty good. Oline should be good this year, and the Dline is pretty stacked.

I think Blair is definitely safe, very versatile and just drafted this season.

If I had to make my guess right now…

Offense(25)
QB: Gabbert, Kaepernick(2) - Driskel goes on PS after last night
RB: Hyde, Draughn, Davis, Harris(4) - Taylor on PS
WR: Smith, Patton, White, Kerley, Burbridge, waiver/FA pickup(6) - Smelter on IR, Cajuste and Treggs on PS
TE: McDonald, Celek, Bell, Miller(4)
OL: Staley, Beadles, Kilgore, Davis, Brown, Garnett, Tiller, Cooper, Martin(9) - Theus and Kelly on PS

Defense(25)
DL: Armstead, Buckner, Dial, Dorsey, TJE, Purcell(6)
LB: Bowman, Armstrong, Wilhoite, Bellore, Brooks, Harold, Carradine, Blair, Rush(9) - Lynch goes on the suspended list
DB: Brock, Ward, Reaser, Redmond, Robinson, Johnson, Reid, Bethea, Tartt, Cromartie(10)

ST(3)
P: Pinion
K: Dawson
LS: Nelson

IMO biggest question marks are WR final 2, OL last 2 and DB backups. Lots of questions regarding health of guys for instance i would think Treggs could make the roster but I don't know how hurt he really is. No idea what's up with Smelter's health.

I think with the idea that our defense will be out there a lot more we'll want to keep the DBs healthy and rested..best way to do that is by having a bunch on the roster. I know Chis Davis was getting a lot of love early but I thought he got picked on pretty bad last few games so I'm not sure he makes the team but certainly wouldn't shock me.

^ PRetty good list. Not really sure if I would change anything. After last night I am not a fan of Whilhoite, but he is sadly one of the better backups that we have available. I am excited to see if Rush and Blair can product like they have in the regular season.

I have the same thoughts on Chris Davis. He has some flashes of great play but like you said he got beat pretty bad at time.

Is it possible for Armstrong to line up next to Bowman? Idk much about the depth chart right now but I love what I saw out of him.

It's looking like he'll get that job. Hodges has the talent but seems to be too eager to do his own thing rather than play within the scheme which coaches loathe.

Marcus Rush preseason grades among edge defenders:
vs. Run: 143rd out of 152
Pass Rush: 1st out of 152#49ers

Interesting stat…. Put him in on 3rd downs and let him work? Needs to be better vs the run to do anything and that stat will make or break it for him.

I like's Genus lists. Maybe keep Garrison Smith over TJE but TJE is pretty versatile.

Keep Rush at least while Lynch is out. Can be used in situational pass downs where the OT is slow.

I totally forgot Lynch is out 4 games. That makes sense to keep Rush until then.

Justin Hunter cut by Titans…size but dude hasn't done chit. One thing we're missing this year is size at WR with Smelter having an injury and Eric Rogers getting hurt.

I'm curious as hell to see the final 53. We have some interesting competition all over the place OL, DL, ILB, OLB, CB and S, TE, even RB. Very interested to see who they roll with and who gets let go. My roster prediction is

QB (2): Blaine Gabbert, Colin Kaepernick
RB (4): Carlos Hyde, Shaun Draughn, Mike Davis, Kelvin Taylor
WR (6): Torrey Smith, Quinton Patton, DeAndrew White, Jeremy Kerley, Dres Anderson, Aaron Burbridge
TE (4): Vance McDonald, Garrett Celek, Blake Bell, Bruce Miller
OL (8): Joe Staley, Zane Beadles, Daniel Kilgore, Anthony Davis, Trent Brown, Joshua Garnett, Andrew Tiller, (then 1 of either Colin Kelly, John Theus, Fahn Cooper)

DL (7): Arik Armstead, DeForest Buckner, Quinton Dial, Glenn Dorsey, Ronald Blair, Garrison Smith, (either Purcell or TJE)
OLB (4): Ahmad Brooks, Eli Harold, Tank Carradine, Marcus Rush
ILB (4): NaVorro Bowman, Gerald Hodges, Ray-Ray Armstrong, Nick Bellore
CB (7): Tramaine Brock, Jimmie Ward, Chris Davis, Rashard Robinson, Marcus Cromartie, Keith Reaser, Dontae Johnson
S (4): Eric Reid, Antoine Bethea, Jaquiski Tartt, LJ McCray

K (1): Phil Dawson
P (1): Bradley Pinion
LS (1): Kyle Nelson

IR/PUP: DeAndre Smelter, Will Redmond
Suspended: Aaron Lynch

PS: Driskell, Treggs, whoever else

TBH as I write it out though there are players I'm deciding between and can't be sure if I would want them or someone else. Tough to get it down to 53.

I guess the question is, does he have more upside then our other WRs? Maybe but not sure who I'd knock off. I like White and I think Patton can put together a decent year. Do we let Smealter go? Just not sure who we cut to bring him on.

Looks like our first cut was Cajuste, hoping he clears waivers and makes it to PS.

Also apparently Lions cut Brandon Thomas. Weird cause he was talented, I wonder if his knee never fully healed.
