Will join on the neg train if i see a DJ41 on a rubber strap. Having seen a few of them now in person, the little pop of color doesnt distract from anything.

Just do go full potato and wear some outrageously colored suit or outfit and then slap that puppy on there.

10.5k out the door

Not sure if you’ve tried them in person but it was almost laughable when I did yesterday. I’m so fukkin glad I didn’t just blindly pull the trigger on a 36. This is exactly how it went:

Can I try both on (any combo, sold or not) just for reference so I can make sure I’m making the right choice?

Sure

I get the 36 over my fist and didn’t even close the clasp. Ded fkn srs. Said no, this is just… no.

Get the 41 over the wrist before even locking the clasp I said “this is perfect” and then closed it. Bam. Perfection.

I know bigger watches has been more of a modernish trend but it just makes more sense from aesthetics to functionality. If you haven’t tried them on, you MUST do so. As a reminder I have small wrists (will measure later) and the 36 was beyond feminine looking on me.

I can't believe I'm saying this but 10.5k is a bargain for that piece. I will definitely try one on before I buy but I'm 99.9% sure I'm getting the 36mm.

I get you, and I was just as worried as you were about this but I'm currently wearing my DJ41 in a vneck tshirt and joggers and it doesn't look awkward at all. The bracelet gives it a lot of versatility.

I only think you have to worry about versatility if you have an oddly large sized watch, or an overtly dressy (Lange/Patek) watch. That's when pieces can start to look a little retarded in terms of being out of place. 41mm on steel is daily driver as fuk status.

Visited a fellow watch enthusiast the other day to show him my new DJ. He mentioned he took an attorney friend to pick up a 36mm dj at our local AD. I mentioned that was fine as long as he had smaller wrists.

I was looking down at the Blue dial Black Bay 58 he was letting me try on, then I look up to see this fuker "wearing" my DJ41 around his 4 fingers. I never knew it but I guess this fuker has 8.5inch wrists and can't even get his hand through a standard DJ41 without adding links. Mind was nuked because he's a well fed dude but i wouldn't call him obese at all. First time meeting someone with monster wrists like that.

I have a friend like that. Barely ever wears his BLNR, wants to sell his 42mm ROO because he thinks it's too small. Not someone you'd look at and think he's fat, but he has deceptively large wrists (no homo).

gonna go to the AD today, show my face, shmooze, and try on some presidents before i fuk off to florida for a few months. on one hand i think i'm still interested in the blnr for my birthday in the summer. on the otherhand, i may be in a position to bypass it all together and just pick up a blue dial sky-dweller grey market.

i only really want the blue dial SD, and the rose gold rootbeer. don't see myself owning much else after I get those two. May eventually sell the sundust dj for the rhodium SS for variety's sake. Likely will end up selling my tudor bronze for a Green Aqua Terra as well for a "beater". Don't give a fuk about the OPs enough to pursue them, and the aqua terra is just as pleasant (if not more so) at that price range.

Normally would never pay rolex grey market prices, but in the case of the SD I actually think msrp is undervalued. As I've said before, I'd buy a blue SD for 25, over a AP RoyalOak at 25 all day long.

I purchased a Rolex OP39 (Rhodium dial) exactly a year ago which I don’t really wear anymore and was considering selling it. I saw that the OP39 was discontinued and it seems like the market price for this watch has appreciated in value slightly. Does it make sense to sell now or hold onto it longer and sell in the future? I’m still fairly new to the buy/sell watch game so any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Any additional appreciation on the watch won't be worth the time you'd have to wait for it. it's never going to be a $8000 piece so i'd just sell it privately on watchrecon, take your little profit and be done with it.

Stopped in the AD the other day to try on a day date. Entirely redundant to own a datejust and daydate. I'd give the edge to the daydate because the hidden crown clasp is the sexiest thing ever. But I would totally sell the datejust if i ever got a daydate.

They were also kind enough to let me try on my grail piece because they had one in back for another client. Really do love the rose gold gmt

Gorgeous pieces. What size is your wrist? Those look like 41mm and big on you. Maybe it’s just the pic?

I measured my wrist before once, i'm like 7.25 inches or something like that. Both the GMT and DayDate are 40mm, I just have small bitch hands so it makes the dial look bigger than it is.

For example, when I got my datejust, I didn't have to take any of the links out. Just had to use that small 5mm micro adjuster to lock it in the smaller setting and it fit fine. And again, for the daydate even with just the standard bracelet and clipping it on it was nearly a perfect fit.

Trust me though, the AD laughed at the thought of me wearing the 36mm because it would just looked obnoxiously out of proportion with the rest of my body.
