How the Stonk Queen made $80k trading meme stocks during the pandemic

Meme stocks have been a hot topic since the pandemic. Crum turned them into big profits and a brand.

"Kiersten Crum’s life was that of a typical college student before the pandemic. She attended the University of Kansas, where she was a business administration major, with a minor in dance, and was active in her sorority.

That was until spring break 2020, when she had to leave campus like millions of other college kids due to the Covid-19 pandemic. After being sent home and seeing her father’s bar business completely shut down for several months, Crum decided to drop out of school and help support her family.

Amid financial desperation, she took a leap of faith and started investing during one of the worst stock market downturns in history. In just over a year, Crum turned an initial $500 investment in Carnival Cruise Lines into an $80,000 portfolio and built a powerful personal brand as the ‘Stonk Queen,’ gaining nearly 200,000 followers on TikTok. She now uses her brand to help educate young investors on how to start investing and grow their net worth."

It's pretty fascinating tbh.

But, when the ultimately bubble bursts, investors quickly turn to panic selling, sometimes selling their assets for less than they're worth based on fundamentals. The panic that follows a bubble can spread to other asset classes, and can even cause a recession.

Wait, I thought S&P crashed about ~50% in 2008? AND came back in 2-3 years and went higher than ever before? Not sure thou.

And wouldn’t the money printing prop up the market rather than crash it?

Anyway, put stop losses on everything you own, and have some crypto and gold/silver just in case.

She turned $500 into $80,000 in less then a year trading stocks during an extremely volatile risky market.

I wouldn't exactly follow her or take her advice. But that's pretty extraordinary brah. How many females do you know that can turn 500 into 80k during any kind of market? The average female turns $500 into -8k in debt.

You can acknowledge that fluking into meme-squeeze took zero market knowledge and also acknowledge that it was a great trade, the two aren't mutually exclusive. The fact that this lady is charging for investing advice while having zero fundamental knowledge is like me starting a YouTube investing channel when I was up 1100% on spacs in 8 months on literal pure retardation/yolo trades.

I don't know what she does but sometimes people just hit a lottery ticket and think they figured the game out.

One of the most detrimental thing that happened to me was winning big early.

lol @ stonk queen, surely things will end well for her and her followers.

pretty much this, she got lucky and now she thinks she knows stocks. 1 year gains is not impressive, earn 20-25% in a 10 year time span is impressive because you will be battled tested during down years and high years, everyone can do good during a up year

Just lol if new investors make money during this time period and think they understand the stock market.

I guess the silver lining will be the next correction and avg investors will finally understand the fukery the fed and govt do during that time period.

I guess 07-09 wasn't impactful enough to be remembered. There's going to be a lot of broke people in the next correction, and a few winners.
