I really want either an AP Diver or AP ROO Chrono for some reason (I just like the steel case/black dial/black band combo). The non-offshore line is definitely better, but the price comparison isn't even close (~$25-30k minimum for an AP Jumbo vs. $17-20k for the offshore)
Anyways, this watch is a few grand cheaper than the rest on the market because its offered by a private seller. Is there anything I can do to verify the watch is real? I feel very comfortable with Rolex, but know next to nothing about AP (srs) just don't want to buy a fake watch because I'm kinda dumb

Welp. It’s been almost 90 days since the last attempt.
Time to go try on the Cartier santos again for the 400th time just to determine the large is too large for me and the medium too dainty lmfao.
Fcking sucks because I really love that piece. Elegant af

The watch is gorgeous but the large is just off a little bit and the medium is too small. I tried them both on several times

Don't do it m8. Wait for the DJ since it's not impossible to get. I like the Santos, but it won't fill that void of what you want if you have to convince yourself to go in and quadruple check if you like it.

also, the explorer II polar is underrated (srs) what a pretty watch, this would make for a good daily wearer

You should go ahead and cop the Green Aqua Terra "beater" to scratch the itch. That watch is hnnngh.
To be fair, i think i'll give the green aqua terra a shot. I havent tried on (or seen) an AT in over 1.5 years. And i've never seen the green in person at all. Will likely end up foregoing on the santos, as I recently tried on the JLC Reverso and know for a fact i like that one and it would be the same category of wear as the santos.
Side note: I was watching youtube on peoples' "journey" to acquire a royal oak at retail. It seems there's no such thing as the situation unstumpable experienced where you just meander in and catch the manager on a good day to get one. You go in to express interest, then you legit park your ass for 1.5 to 2.5 years and wait for your number to be called. I'm going to go to the AP this weekend if that's the case. Going to "express interest" in the Grey or Black 15500 and the 26331 with black dial and white subregisters. Will update thread with results.
Wish i could find some place to compare the 15202 "jumbo" to the 15500. I know the 15500 has the updated movement and screw down crown, but the 15202 appears to have better proportions. Don't care at all about water resistance because the DJ41 has 100m water resistance and i'm reluctant to take it in 10ft of ocean water. I can only imagine how careful i'd be with an AP.

Was just up last night watching youtube videos of royal oak models as i slowly start to get more fond of acquiring one in the future. Then the santos popped up again, and i just love the bracelet and case on it. Medium is just too damn dainty. To be fair, i think i'll give the green aqua terra an honest shot. I’m still blown away that I’m wearing a stainless steel Rolex right now…the odds of that happening must’ve been astronomical. I was just about to walk out of the store when the owner walked up to me too and made my year.
I was speaking to the young girl SA who was helping me before he walked up, and we were talking about Dj41s and she said everyone comes in wanting the blue dial. And said if I wanted to get one that I should just wait because they are actually obtainable.

Man Explorer II white dial always makes me feel sour. In 2007 when I graduated with my first BA they were $2700 used and my dad gave me the option of getting one or something new…..I chose this ugly Tag Link with diamonds as the numbers which I ended up selling a few years later. Should have trusted the man who bought a speedy brand new in 1971, wore a Tudor snowflake in the 80s, and submariner in the 90s.

I don't know much about the difference between the 15202 and 15500
Also, the AP bracelet looks so 100% perfectly finished, every little scratch or ding would hurt a lot more compared to a Rolex… so even the 15500 would be a pretty delicate watch, although the 15202 would be more-so (but it probably doesn't matter for a watch in that tier anyways, you're more likely to scratch the bracelet than get water in it)

When i take pics of my watches they often have that huge look without me perceiving them as such in person. But the explorer 2 looked every bit of that in person.
Differences between 15202 and 15500 are notable. 15202 has a decades old movement with a 40hour power reserve, non-screw down crown so you wouldn't want to do anything more than shower with it on, and as you've noted the softer metal.
15500 is bigger obviously, dial changes, but the movement is significantly improved from a power reserve standpoint. slightly better lume, and i almost forgot the 15202 doesn't have a quick date function so when you go to change the date you have to keep spinning the hour hand around the damn dial to change the day. Absolutely pissening tech for a 20k watch. Even that poverty ETA breitling i posted has a quick date set function. Also no running seconds hand on the 15202 if i recall correctly.

I've looking at some of the Russian timepieces - older classics (like the Big Zero) and their 24hr timepieces. Some of the new pieces from an old maker (Raketa in St. Petersburg) look to be pretty good. I'm trying to source an original Big Zero, in the meantime I'm waiting on the delivery of a Vostok Commander as a beater - might look good with a black rubber strap.
