Marcus Rush is cut. I was pulling for him. Ponder made the team so that means we are keeping 3 Qbs.

Surprised we cut White at WR then traded for Streater. Also surprised we traded McCray. Also thought Rush was gonna make it. Not sure why we let him go and kept wilhoite

So how's everyone feeling about the upcoming season? I love football but just could not watch the Niners last season, far too brutal. I'm hoping for a bit of improvement this season but idk probably have the least talented team in the league. I think T. Brown will surprise some people though

Good: we should be improved at every position and coaching. We were a competitive team last season so I expect around 6 wins

Bad: Mediocrity = more mediocrity. As you mentioned we are low on talent. We need to be drafting in the Top 3 and this probably won't occur


We are on pace to be (at best) average for the next Decade.

Surprised by the Rush cut but people shouldn't act like he's Clay Matthews. Curious who we get on the PS. Hopefully Driskel is one of them.

I want Kelvin Taylor to make PS too, along with Driskell, Treggs, Skov, Rush. I'm most curious about cutting Deandrew White, Dres Anderson, McCray, and Rush. I would've let go of Wilhoite and not traded for a random WR in Streater.

Apparently Dres and White are also eligible for PS. Along with that so is Smelter. Hope we can get them but I don't necessarily see Treggs, Cajuste, Dres, Deandrew, and Smelter all making the PS. Curious as to why we rolled with 3 QBs, and 9 OL, and 5 ILB. I woulda switched the numbers up a bit there with 2 QBs and 8 OL with 4 ILB.

I also want Garrison Smith to make PS. Curious to see if nobody gets injured who we let go to give Aaron Lynch his spot.



Overall I wish we got rid of Wilhoite especially if we are gonna keep Bellore. Along with that I would have kept one of either White, Anderson for the WR position and ignored Streater. I don't know why we traded McCray let alone to the Seahawks.

Also I'm ready for Baalke to go, sick of his ACL draft strategy, stubbornness to let go of certain players, and inability to draft/sign WRs.


How many ACL draftees have panned out and done anything for this team? Why did we keep Marcus Martin, Wilhoite, certain players when we are rebuilding and let go of Rush, who could basically take a 4 week spot to prove himself until Lynch comes back? Why do we trade a special teams ace to a NFC West rival for a conditional 7th? What is the point of letting a lot of young players go when we are supposed to be rebuilding?

I've never been a big fan or hater, was always somewhat neutral about Baalke but not so much anymore, IMO he is out of chances and didn't do much to help his cause making some of these cuts/keeps/trades and we have seen absolutely nothing from any of his ACL all stars.

The Rush cut makes zero sense. Just another one of those dumb 49er decisions. I do like that we kept Ponder though.

The only thing that I can think why they dropped Rush is that he isn't good against the run. Still he would be good to put in on third downs for the rush.

In fact our whole offense seems to be in a talent drought. RB, WR, QB, TE. O-line is the thing that has improved the most I think, so I'm optimistic about that at least.
If Potato-Chip Kelly doesn't bring some wizardy to SF, then we are in for another half decade of mediocracy.
Hyde and Reid are two of our best (young) players and they are injury prone.

Fuk… I was hoping we could keep smith or driskel. I still feel optimistic that we will be better than what people say. It just sucks to see some good guys not be able to stay around.

Skov, Rush went unclaimed, heard Skov is signing with our PS, hope Rush does too. Also Smelter went unclaimed and reverted to our IR.

Happy about that at least. As far as driskel we have 3 capable Qbs. But which one shows up for games is up to them. I am curious who will move around on the depth chart as the season goes.

Not saying Driskell was the answer but he has a chance at developing where Gabbs, Kap, and Ponder are all further along in their careers and unless they have a revival I wouldn't say any of them are potential long term options at the position. Let's hope for our sake they all come around and ball out.

The only answer I can think of is Chip will be rotating QBs and he expects injury with even possibly Ponder starting some games

Pretty pissed about Driskel. I think he would've been a great dude to develop. I thought his last awful showing could let him clear waivers but that's the risk you take

31 other teams passed on Rush and he ended up back on our practice squad, so maybe it makes a little sense after all.

Yeah…not happy to see either of those signed away, especially Driskel kid had some legit potential in Chip's offense. Hopefully Cinci cuts him at some point so we can re-sign him but it's a low %.

Also good to see you on slack, i needed some more niner bros on there.

People are undervaluing him due to his genetics. It is what it is. The guy proved he could easily be a starter on passing downs.

McCray failed his physical so trade is nixed. Kinda happy if we can keep him somehow and he ends up playing if somebody else goes down.

Signed Dejuan Harris and IR Will Redmond, he's eligible for return as our one player placed there after the cuts apparently but another ACL all star who may not contribute, although when healthy I expect positive things from him.


Also Bruce Miller was arrested Sunday evening for assault, greeeeaaattt.
