Anybody familiar with Rolex announcement schedule? I'm hearing that new models will be announced in April? I could've swore the announcements last year were later than that.

And it's the 50th anniversary of the Explorer. So they'll probably do something interesting with that.

I kinda like the idea of a ceramic bezel Exp 2. I dont like the normal one…but the renders of a ceramic…i can get behind.

Last week in florida for awhile. Take my girl to a mall with a breitling and omega dealership. Our goals were simply to see that mint green chronomat in person, see the new speedy, but walk out with the green aqua terra.



Went to breitling first. Lady says she hasn't sold any other color of the chronomat except for the mint green. For a dolled up ETA, i absolutely loved it. The bracelet was very comfortable, though the case was a tad sparse. The dial was less "minty" in person but just as enjoyable. I liked it more than my girl did, she said the bracelet was a touch too masculine. That's probably why i liked it. Wish it came in a 41mm size. would make a great beater. Went to the Omega AD, and honestly I think wearing the rolex in there did me a disservice. More on that later. I go in ask to see the new speedy but these blue dial 38mm lady speedmasters caught my eye and my girl said she loved it far more than the breitling and i'd have to agree.






Just had a really great sunburst effect. The new speedmaster is glorious. I won't exaggerate and say it's as good as the president or jubilee bracelet but it is a STRONK upgrade from the old speedy bracelet. Elegant taper, nice buckle, and subtly polished links if you go with the sapphire crystal.








(Took a picture of my dj on the tray because i've literally never seen it reflect that much pink-sundust color outside of AD/Restaurant-lighting. Fuking bullschit but it's buriful)





Tried on the aqua terra. Eventhough the bracelet DOESNT taper, I didn't want to take it off. The butterfly clasp, the omega stamp on the bottom of the clasp, the polished center links, the way light dances off the hour indices, and a subtle sunburst effect on the dial. Outside of the tudor BB58, I can't think of a nicer watch @ $4500.




I tell this fuking AD ******* to put together his best offer, and i'll walk out with it. He tells us to have a seat, he goes in back for 15 minutes then returns to the table. On an envelope he shows the retail price with sales tax $6099. And then what he was offering me with sales tax… $5790!?!?!?!? He proceeds to tell me he'll throw in an extended 2 year boutique warranty (7 years total) and a fuking omega watch cleaning kit.

The worst part was he said he'd come down on the price if i purchased 2 watches. U W0T M8!? you are NOT rolex or AP. I can go on jomahshop and get that blue speedy and my green AT for 7.5k, and this dude is trying to push a bundle deal on me. ADs are good for nothing other than seeing schit in person I swear. A 5% discount… just what in the ACTUAK fuk. Watch is sitting on jomah right now for $4250. The funniest part is, when i had the watch he said "you know, i have yet to sell one of these but it's really unique". Just strong everything.

Damn…5% is a slap in the face. I was thinking they might tell you only 10% max since that's what I was told over the phone one time, but only 5%….yeah might as well go grey market.

Supposedly April. Last year was September because the regular Basel in March was cancelled and Rolex decided to stop going there anyway. April seems to put them back on track but I guess they're doing their own thing now.

I'd be very surprised if they added ceramic to it. I for sure see some kind of anniversary version, but it might not even be to the steel model. Maybe a gold model, or some slight changes to the current model with some green or something like that.

You should have just told him the price you were shooting for and see what he says. If you were at an actual boutique though, they're pretty stingy. I was at the Panerai boutique a few months back and against my better judgement brought up pricing, and I was in the mood and would have actually bought for the right price (and regretted later). The guy offered 5% and pretty much said they can't do as much as the other stores since they're a boutique. I think high profile boutiques like Rodeo Dr. are just there for the random sucker, but mostly to just have a presence there.

my prediction for the Explorer II next month is for Rolex to announce a 50th anniversary model where the changes are: (1) green "Explorer II" text and GMT hand; (2) updated movement from 3187 to 3285; (3) case diameter remains at 41mm, but the case is slimmed down slightly (as the case of the Exporer II 216570 was originally made larger than its predecessor to fit the paraflex shock absorbers of the 3187 movement)

I think the ceramic bezel is unlikely given the character of the watch (cave-dwellers in dimly lit caves, potentially smashing the watch into hard rocks and chit)

I'm curious if they will discontinue the existing Explorer II 216570… I could see the Polar variants continuing to go up in value if so (srs)

I would almost be willing to guarantee they will discontinue the 216570, even if it's just because of a move to the 3285 and a new ref number.

I wouldn't say there are "dangers" per say, but you want to read the fine print on basic stuff.

Warranties: You lose the manufacturer warranty in some of these places, or you have a reduced warranty because the original one was for 5 years, but the one they received was already stamped 2 years ago so it's only 3 years when it gets to you.

Shipping: Some of them can get out to you relatively fast, but jomashop says it's 6 to 8 weeks for many models.

Returns: Always want to check what the return policy is just in case you accidentally buy a pre-owned one or something like that.

Im curious if I should buy a 216570 Polar rn or wait for April and see what happens, although I have a feeling prices will go up when/if the current reference number is discontinued (especially if they switch to a ceramic bezel, switch the text from orange to green, etc)

I would definitely buy before april if you're interested in it. prices have been going up across the board for rolex with the (further) reduced supply. even my castaway sundust configuration of the dj is selling above retail which wasn't the case when i bought it just 3.5 months ago.

Will, was it an omega boutique? Ive heard they basically dont deal, at all. Period. My AD quoted me 15% off the grey/blue AT the last time i was in there.

Glad im not alone on that Speedy bracelet. I told my AD that if he can order it, i'd buy it ant put it on my previous year model. It just felt so buttery. And yeah, that butterfly clasp on the AT is definitely solid. Much more like higher end brands with that slight addition and logo on the back.

Hell, look at the AK. When i got mine in November of 2019 you could get them grey for below retail…Theres a couple on watch recon for north of 8k now.

Yeah that should be normal. Most Rolex are rated +/- 2 seconds a day.

Yeah I prefer ALS over FPJ as well. The only FPJ i really like is their CB.

Looking around at getting some estimates on what I’d get for my two tone sub. Looks like I’ll get $10.5k and I paid 12k in 2017. Managed to get a $1000 discount on it from the AD. 10.5k sounds pretty fair. What do y’all think?

I know it’d be a hit. But that money could go towards a nicer piece I’d probably enjoy more like the BlNR,Pepsi, Kermit, Daytona, skydweller etc..

What would y’all do? Sell? Hold onto it even though it doesn’t get much wrist time?

I never buy watches as an investment personally so the fact i get ANY money back is a blessing. If it's 80%+ of your money back after 3 years of wear that's a killing as far as i'm concerned. By many watch guys' standard, i'm gonna get rekt when i sell my bronze but i really don't care. That's just me though, i save and invest but i'm not a penny pincher. Many watch guys are.

Side note: I must be the only person that thinks the kermit sucks. I don't get the obsession around the hulk or to have a crayola crayon green bezel on a luxury time piece.

Pretty much this. Getting anything really above 50% is a blessing. Especially when youre talking 10K in cold hard cash.

Same tbh. I’m not in the watch selling and flipping business. I just want to build my ideal 5 piece or so collection and be done. And the two tone was a spur of the moment purchase when I didn’t know anything about watches. The BLNR or Pepsi would be the ones I go after first, but I do like the look of the hulk and Kermit.

The sky dweller would go good paired with the sea dweller in the collection, but idk all of the pieces I want are popular. So would probably have to be really patient to acquire them at a decent price.

Dropping 6 figures to have the chance to buy a $10,000 watch at MSRP in lieu of spending $16,000 at a grey whislt not suking AD cawq.

Lol hopefully I don’t get jerked around like that. If that’s the case I’ll never be able to get one. The AD I went to was a mom and pop place not in a major city so maybe me buying that seadweller was a good entry level purchase to get another hot piece.

I just had my one mom 'n pop AD close that still had 300 or so (so they say) deposits out when they pulled their AD status after seeing their allocation for 2021. Even in the smallest of areas, there are lots of people with the coin to drop. Just gotta get lucky.

I'm going to be in Vegas at the end of March, and super curious what the boutique's there have in stock for Rolex.

Rolex isn't really my first choice of makers, but curious nontheless.
