MSRP without tax, and the most highly sought after configuration, with basically zero new in stock anywhere until Rolex does their next AD drops.

Edit- speaking off I have been getting recommended videos of the sub no date. I really like that watch. But not sure if it would be redundant with the SD43. And probably wouldn’t scratch that gmt itch. But would be more obtainable.
I had both the ND 114060 and the 116710BLNR and both fantastic watches but ultimately the BLNR was a lot more special IMO, obviously both not the same models but close enough

Wouldnt even think of a GMT or Sub if i had a SD.

And yes, if things creep back down here in the next year, i may eye a BLNR

I'm seriously toying with the idea of a DD40, I also think I like the RG CHNR but its really awkward without actually being able to see/try them on in the flesh. Also is a kick in the teeth potentially having to pay overs for a precious metal piece. I'll see nearer the time how I am financially but it's doable right now
I'd be willing to bet my left nut that if you ever became deadset on a RG CHNR, you would be able to get one within 6 months. Yes ADs are swamped with SS requests, but from my experience they actually perk up and get happy about TwoTone and full precious metal interest because its the rare moments when they don't have to press play on their waitlist song and dance.

When I purchased my DJ, my AD told me they would likely be able to get me a two-tone skydweller if i was interest. But good god, those are hideous. Strictly yellow gold only too? No thanks geoff.

My mom went to Auburn to visit my sister at school. Had her stop at the Rolex AD while down there. Figured it’d be worth a shot. She said there were only 6 Rolex in the store all Women’s. The SA said they were fed up with Rolex and were getting out of the Rolex business. Lol they get calls from all over the country asking about their stock.

So basically no shocker there. Figured there might be that million in one chance though.

edit- and that Gold Day Date above is gorgeous. Would wear it all the time as well.

I will be in Vegas this weekend. Curious to see what the shops there have in stock. I usually bypass the Rolex counter, but will take a look this time.

It was Jan 2019 since the last trip to Vegas. I forget the name of the big retailer inside Caesars Forum shops, but I stumbled across the Rolex counter there. Wasn't real impressed with what they had displayed, but I'm not real educated in anything Rolex. When you guys use acronyms, with regards to Rolex models/colors, my eyes kind of gloss over.
You guys may have found something, but I'm not a fan of the gold or two tone stuff so I kind of move on. I don't remember seeing anything SS at the time.

Im usually very meh on yellow gold from rolex anyway. It's very Cartel-ish. Or greasy italian mobster. That daydate (DD) for some reason looks good above. Maybe it's old and not as shiny.

But rolex in general, youre not going to see a stainless sports model in the cases anymore. Period.

Does DavidSW not charge sales tax on watches? That makes the grey price not quite as bad. Is that only a Florida thing?

Also took out another link on the SD43 today. Thank god I did fits 10x better.

Exactly. I grew up with a large Italian gathering, so the big chest hair with gold chain and italian horn along with some big gawdy gold watch was standard issue in the '80's.

I'm not saying they aren't good looking watches, because they certainly are. I just can't picture me with one on my wrist.

Called the AD and actually spoke with the SA who sold me my SD43 and she said she’d speak with the owner about when he could get me a gmt or Green bezel sub. She seemed happy I called so maybe they’ll come thru.

Well, you were right TVK. Not much in Vegas. Sales chic told me that sales of Rolex have tripled since Covid. They had mostly smaller women's models in stock. No waitlist as they don't know when or what they will be getting. I'm sure some of their regular customers get a phone call when something comes in.

Put the new speedy moonwatch on my wrist, and I was disappointed. Little small for my wrist, I think.

Surprisingly, they still had a bronze Zenith Pilot Type 20 in stock. I really like that watch. But, I'm drawn to Pilot's in general. Love the IWC Big Pilot too.

Might splurge next year on something.

It certainly didn't fit like a 42. The new bracelet is pretty nice though. I like it better than the old bracelet (they had both there). I just realized that there is an Omega retailer in my town. Going to have to stop in there when I get a chance.
That Zenith Pilot is a 45mm and seemed to fit me a little better. Could be just my expectations though and my mind playing tricks on me.

Also, is anybody else feeling the Grand Seiko "superman"??? If I didn't just pick up a blue face watch, I would absolutely have picked this up. Saw a video with it yesterday and was blown away at the colors and how well it was picked up in the video lol

I hate these stupidass kermit, coke, pepsi, batgirlmantrans names for watches. So I can't speak to a grandseiko superman. However, I do love Grand Seiko in photos and holding them in hand, but I haven't found one i enjoy on wrist yet.

eh grand seikos are pretty good but people overrate them. dials are nice enough but bracelets suck in general. movement finish is pretty average as well. i have a snowflake and i don't wear it often. feels too light on the wrist given its titanium, i prefer steel tbh. also don't except anyone to recognize your grand seiko (if that is what you are into)

I'm not lol. If I want to talk watches, I want to talk to someone who actually knows chit, not someone rocking a sweet new Nixon from PacSun.

also, that sort of attention seeking reminds me of

The accuracy tho… Me and my older brother are complete opposites. I'm the hyper-capitalist hustler. He's the "artiste" who ran away to a foreign country to teach english.

Anyway, he got a chest tattoo like 10 years ago and has been wearing deep-vneck shirts ever since. So fuking cringe.

Also, I feel like you can make that same meme with the guy on the plane I mentioned and his daytona. Never in my life seen someone flail their wrist about so much seeking acknowledgement. I should have gave him my Rolex baseball cap to help him out. smh.

Exactly. I've had several of the "heritage season" models on and the lightness of the bracelet bothers the fuk out of me every time.

I remember going down a youtube rabbithole learning the difference between the Spring Drive vs the High Beat. If I recall correctly I think the spring drive gets the titanium bracelets, and the Hi-Beat gets steel. Might be the sweet spot we're looking for… OR could just go Omega Aqua Terra and kill the discussion all together.

There are some good videos on YouTube comparing macro shots of Grand Seikos to Patek and A Lange & Sohne. Considering the difference in price points, the value you’re getting out of a Grand Seiko seems to be exceptional

Less brand recognition (and less premium for the name) + superior quality for the price is pretty much ideal IMO
