Anyone else having issues with Lightroom CC freezing up? If I leave it open long enough in the background when I click back to it I just get the spinning pinwheel of death and have to force quit and open it again.

Retina display iMac? Issues have been reported with LR CC. Something to do with the amount of processing power required by the un-optimized LR and the 5K display.

http://dogwood.photography/52weekchallenge.html for those interested in a 52 week photo challenge I found this one and it looks very cool if I do say so myself.

I truly believe post processing is a must to make your work stand out. The colors/sharpening you see out of the camera don't compare to what you see irl….camera's just can't do what your eyes can.

Isn't the Canon 1.8 II priced around a $150 dollars? I don't know if you can get much cheaper then that. I don't know have but everyone swears by the nifty fifty.

Just looked, the YONGNUO is $49. I'm gonna go out on the limb here and say that your money is probably better spent on the Canon.

My LR runs really slow most of the time, I got a 2015 Retina. Pisses me off.

absolutely, I love LR. Raw files are a dull when they come out of the camera so you need a program like LR to use there full potential.

going to a adobe and look in to there photographers CC package, its like 9 dollars a month for Photoshop and LR.

I want to get more into photography this year. I've got an older Sony NEX-5 and I mess around with that. I've been watching youtube and reading tips and techniques, and I'm sure I'll learn a lot in this thread. These are just some I took with my iPhone, I've got some cool ones on my camera I'll post when I get home, but I like these too. I travel for work, so most are from thier plane, the one of the street/lake is in somewhere near Bellevue, WA. The Mountain is Mt. Rainier.

Looking forward to going back through the thread and seeing everything you guys have posted up.

How do you like the 7D2 with the Tamron 150-600? I got the Tamron 150-600 and I really like it but my 60D isn't letting me do justice. Hoping if I upgrade to the 7D2 it'll allow me to push the ISO further as I Find the tamron a little slow being only 5.6.

Did you consider using a Grad ND filter? the center of the photo is blown out without details.
I like the other parts of the image , especially the colors! . Well thought composition with the leading lines as well.

The tamron was great on my 6d, which I used for about 10 months.

When I got the 7dmkii, it was a bit frustrating to use. Can't rely on all those focus points. Can't best single point.

However, I found that the focus was off so I bought a spyder lens cal to help calibrate it. I microadjusted a +11 on the telephoto range and now it's working great.

Doing another trip the first weekend of February with the girlfriend.

From Phenoix
Grand Canyon South Rim - Sunrise
Horseshoe Bend - Midday meh
Zion Overlook Canyon Trail - Late Afternoon
Highway 6 through Zion - Sunset

Desert Valley - Midday, Late Afternoon
-Titus Canyon Road
-Zabriskie Point
-Artists Palette
-Devils Golf Course
-Badwater
-Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes - Sunset

395 North to Tahoe along Sierra Nevada
-Manzanar Memorial
-Erick Schat Bakkery
-Bristle Pine Forest to see Methuselah (4,800 year old tree)
-Crowely Lake Rock Formations
-Hot Creek Geological Site
Tahoe

Not sure what to do around the Tahoe area yet, depending on what is closed due to winter conditions on 395, we could get in about 1 pm or 7 pm.

Anyone in the area been to some of these places along 395? Sounds like the winter conditions vary greatly, so may not be able to do any of the stops, would like to hear any advice or ideally an update on like February 3rd, as of the conditions out in the general area.

Also any advice on the Lake Tahoe area, looking to propose there at some point of the trip, her parents got married in the general location, but cant get a exact location, so anywhere with a pretty good view would be nice to know, somewhat secluded and accessible during the winter.

Roughly 20 hours of driving, over 5 days, 1,200 miles +/-

I went to the Grand canyon during sunrise, It was so cold that night that i couldn't sleep so I got there 30 mins before sunrise. By the time the sun was rising the place was PACKED with tourist and tripods. So I would advice getting to your spot half an hour before sunrise.

I also went to Horseshoe Bend during mid-day and it was meh, I'm sure it must be awesome during sunrise/sunset. Antelope Canyon is 20 minutes away from there, and it's deff. worth a visit, especially during mid-day because you have the shafts of light coming in nicely.

Also, don't stay in hotels I saved lots of money using airbnb. Here are some pics:

When you come to think of it, almost all human behaviour and activity is not essentially any different from animal behaviour. The most advanced technologies and craftsmanship bring us, at best, up to the super-chimpanzee level. Actually, the gap between, say, Plato or Nietzsche and the average human is greater than the gap between that chimpanzee and the average human.

Staying in a lodge at the south rim with a window overlooking the canyon, also visiting the morning of a Friday in February, so shouldn't be to busy, if the room view is legit we may just watch the sunrise from there, been to the grand canyon as a kid, girl hasnt gone yet.

Horseshoe midday earlier this summer, wasn't the best time of day to see it, but still well worth a stop I think. Antelope canyon was neat this summer but I recommend the extended photography tour to hit up the other essentially vacant canyons, and be given priority during photographs in antelope, there are just to many people there, also to much out of the way for our trip, not wanting to drop that kind of money just 5 months later. Posted my trip photos back on page 14-17 or so.

Hotels already paid for, I camp with my brother but the girlfriend likes hotels when we travel, oh well.

Havent been shooting lately. Been so busy with work and school. Plan on attending the 2016 NAIAS soon. Planning on getting some great images.

I am debating on using my 16-35 lens or renting the 24-70. Totally different lenses, but would the 16-35 be able to get some solid images?
