Awesome man. MAWL is easily the best non-grey market device out there but damn if it's $$$ bro

That’s good. I have a 11.5” BCM upper, haven’t really shot it much for groups though. Seemed fine. Don’t even remember which barrel I got, I think it was a light weight one but not enhanced (not chrome lined).

pretty much any round bigger than .22lr hitting the right location of an attacker can be immediately incapacitating. i think the only real problem with RIP rounds is that they have a tendency to not feed reliably in most semi autos. oldschool JHP is proven to be effective so no need to mess with anything else

I do not have a .357 platform.

Looks like this months purchase is going towards a red-dot instead.

I hit the jackpot shooting single action revolvers. People apparently don't know that 45 schofield and 45 Colt have the same relationship that 38 special has with 357 magnum. So I've bought around a thousand rounds of 45 schofield over the pandemic. Usually it and 10mm or something are the only handgun rounds left on the shelves

No round in your normal defensive calibers are guaranteed to immediately incapacitate on a center mass shot. It can vary depending on what stage of the blood pumping process the body is at and the determination of the opponent to fight as long as possible. If the blood has just been pumped out of the heart before the heart gets destroyed, the person can go 5-10 seconds on the oxygen of that last pump before going down.

I switched to 308 win for the same reason. I've got an ar in 308 and the ammo is cheaper than 556 right now. ITs freaking bonkers.

maybe now is the time to stock up on some good quality .308

speaking of that round, what brands have you run through your aero m5, and what kind of accuracy did you get?

ive only ran pmc bronze through mine and the groups suck. ive heard the m5 can be picky with which loads it likes but i havent tried a wide variety of brands yet.

Federal premium with smk bullets. I've been finding that locally for 75 cpr and it has been more accurate than I can honestly test. I do not have a bipod so I cannot really give good figures but it does seem 1 moa capable. I went through all of those troubleshooting the gas/buffer system though. What I've got left are lake city/smk 7.62 and I'm not really sure its fair to judge the m5 by how those perform.

yea, federal makes some good quality ammo. what kind of fire control group did you use in your build? All aero parts?

my M5s are all 100% aero and i feel like the triggers are lacking. i intend to upgrade eventually

I use aero everything just to make sure the build would work but so much for that initially heh. The trigger is too heavy imo but its crisp. Honestly, I wouldn't know better. I've only shot ditch rifles for the most part.

heavy is a good way to describe it. i think i wouldnt notice if i hadnt have put a 9x magnification scope on mine and tried to get really tight groups. im used to tack drivers than can stack rounds on top of eachother at 100 yards and i just couldnt do that with my 16" M5 and 9x scope. im hoping to get better results when i get that ACOG TA11

LUCKILY changing trigger pull weight is a 10$ spring kit away. I'm gonna order a couple geiselle ssa-e trigger spring kits and see how that feels.

Looks like the m5 is mil spec 7 lbs of pull which is quite a bit.

You've gotta check periodically throughout the day brah. Their inventory emails go out like 30-60 minutes after the item is live on their site. They still get cases of ammo fairly regularly. Just sells out fast.

I figured that was the case. Same thing was happening when I was trying to order gym equipment from Rogue. Their emails always send out late as well. I'm actually not looking just had that notification set up from a month or two ago. Sitting on a couple thousand rounds of both 5.56 and 7.62 right now. So I think that should hold me over. I only have around 450-500 rounds of 9mm though, so would like to have some more, but I might wait on that.

Yeah, I'd just pay attention. I'm sitting on a few thousand rounds of 5.56 and 19k small rifle primers to reload them, so I'm not in a panic obviously. If it gets back under 60c per round, I'd probably grab another case just because. But certainly wouldn't pay 75-80c like I'm seeing some FMJ go for now.

Absolutely. One of my favorite books is Tales From the Stakeout Squad by the late Jim Cirillo. The Stakeout Squad was a NYPD unit that would do undercover stings on high probability robbery target stores which turned into many gunfights. He specifically mentions stories where robbers got center punched with a 12 gauge slug and it didn't stop the fight. One story was even of a robber who escaped and was arrested when he showed up at a hospital.

My department had a shooting with a slug 7 or 8 years ago where the bad guy made it 15 yards or so before he dropped. He ended up dying but he could have kept shooting for those three seconds or so.

The probability is obviously probably much lower to do that after being shot with a slug vs handgun round, but it has and does happen.

The human body is incredibly resilient, in spite of its frailty.

This is why you hear the phrase "shoot to stop the threat". The guy dying later doesn't help you, and guns aren't magical talisman that will just turn a human being off. Unless you get a CNS hit high enough to destroy the right brain matter or completely paralyze them, they're still coming after you.
