Not good to hear Craig Davis and Keith Reaser banged up since they're supposed to be our nickel/slot guys. I'm sure Rams will be more run heavy but Tavon Austin certainly has the speed out of the slot to make life difficult if guys are gimpy.

Questions at QB
Questions at pass rush
Youth all over the field
Crazy tough schedule
WRs are a chit show
If guys play up to their potential then our OL and DL will actually be the strength of the team which is always a good way to build your roster and I hope we never get dominated this season and are in all of our games even if it results in a poor season win/loss wise. I can't help but look ahead to the draft and see a guy like Watson or Myles Garrett likely the top 2 picks in the draft and think how great our team would be with either of them on the roster.

It appears that we are picked to lose Monday night. As we discussed before other than their deline it is pretty even.

funny/crazy how the NFL works.
recently, garrett grayson (saints backup backup QB) was waived and I was hoping just maybeee the niners would take a flyer on him because I thought he'd be good coming out of college. Turns out he cleared waiver and now back on the practice squad for the saints.
Shows how much I know. …….or maybe what the NFL doesn't know. ayyyee

I thought having more picks than completions in his last game would keep other teams away especially cuz the kid was a 6th round pick…so plenty of teams had a chance to draft him if they liked him enough.
Still hoping at some point they cut him and we pick him back up but unfortunately the most important part of being on the PS is being able to practice with the team so him being away from Chip would be a bad thing.

Why are you so enamored with Driskel? What am I missing here? He couldn't hang at Florida and had to go to Conference USA lmao

Good arm, good athletic ability, good size. I wanted to see what Chip Kelly could do with him.
Pretty much the unknown intrigued me cuz if he could ever get back to what he was projected to be it would've been a steal. We know Kap, Gabbert and Ponder aren't likely to magically revive their careers but guess we'll see.

Not sure how you can say that when since 2001 the only QBs to win the SB who aren't considered top 5 are Eli Manning, Joe Flacco and Brad Johnson and out of that group only Brad Johnson is a real nobody.
Obviously if you have a historic level defense like Tampa did that year or Denver last season you can win with mediocre QB play but QB is still super important.

Steve Young will be ranked lower than Brady/Manning/Rodgers and yet he would rewrite every record in todays NFL and play in countless Super Bowls
Russell/Newton = Jeff Garcia

You could draw parallels between the Post Players in the NBA and Quarterbacks in the NFL.
Duncan/KG = Peyton/Brady. You no longer need a HOF in the post to win a Championship in the NBA just like you no longer need a HOF behind center to win a Championship in the NFL.
Thus our situation isn't franchise QB or bust.
"MVP" is relative to the ERA. Consider Stephen Curry has more MVP's than Kobe or KG. LOL!

At some point you can't just take stats at face value when evaluating players so there will always be conversation about who is better and how each guy fared vs their respective competition.
The issue now is it's harder to develop college players because of the schemes most school play now. It's not just the QBs, it essentially effects the rest of the positions as a trickle down effect.
So these guys who aren't used to running or defending a pro style offense vs top tier competition come in and look lost or unprepared and then it becomes a real test. Can the player overcome the hard knocks and come back stronger? Can the coaches actually help teach those guys how to play at the pro level?
Drafting was always tough but now it's becoming tougher and tougher to find guys who are ready to play right away and of course the fans don't want to see early round picks sit around and learn the ropes…especially when you have a situation like the Rams when they trade a fortune for Goff and he may not even dress week 1 let alone start.
Teams have to be very patient these days and so do fans…it's not a fun place to be but that's how you get the best teams out there. So it may take a bit longer but the talent is definitely up there as it used to be and maybe even better but if you have youth on your team it will take time.

Shots fired…
Rotoworld:
Numerous coaches told ESPN's Adam Caplan that Chip Kelly's offense was the "easiest to prepare for" in the NFL last season.
Caplan's remark came in response to an article penned by Smart Football's Chris Brown breaking down Kelly's offense and why it is "fundamentally broken," a must-read accessible at the link below. Brown noted that Kelly has failed to adjust to NFL nuances, among many other flaws. Kelly's offenses got progressively worse in Philadelphia and the 2016 version looked putrid this preseason. Currently sporting the NFL's worst assembly of skill-position players, Kelly is facing an uphill climb in San Francisco, to put it mildly.
Not sure I'd call our offense putrid this preseason but they tend to talk out of their ass after reporting the actual story.
Hopefully Chip has learned a thing or two and those coaches are eating their words.

Hopefully that is just them being smart and not putting anyone in a bad position.

What a bitch. I said it before…how can you trust this dude?
Can't beat Trent then play your ass off at RG and get traded to a team who can use you at OT.
Dude has no leverage. Fuk him. Plug in Tiller or Garnett in for him and move it along.
