My brother has been living in Japan the last 6 years. Apparently he's going to propose to a woman out there he met. Makes fukall for money but he's happy. He consulted me on a respectable watch for him to wear. I pointed him to a Seiko Presage.

Think as a wedding gift, I'm going to get him a Grand Seiko GMT. Seems very fitting as he'll likely be spending the rest of his life there, and frankly it's my favorite Grand Seiko.

EDIT: Here's that combination (new dial/fluted bezel/jubilee bracelet. I personally think it looks pretty good. That pattern is not as loud as the safari/leaves or whatever the heck the other new dial pattern is.

Great idea but he wouldn't know the horological difference between an Air King or Daytona. Wouldn't even be worth the effort, and to the bolded his yearly salary is pathetic. I don't think he could afford one if it was offered to him.

I was watching some youtube's on this piece yesterday and I gotta say, I would struggle giving it to my bro if I bought it. The vids make it look even sexier. The one and only knock on the watch is that its water resistance is basically "well you can stand in rain with it… probably" lol. That said, my favorite grand seiko vs my favorite patek…

There's no way it's a publicity stunt. That's just people who know them or have done business with them in the past being in denial.
Just imagine how stupid you have to be to pretend like you closed up shop without a word while still owing customers and other dealers money and watches. They also got a bunch of "donations" for them to open up their new store in return for wholesale pricing. This is a industry based off trust and once you lose that even a publicity stunt won't be able to make up for that.
