At least if I did the required spend to get one at retail I’d have something to show for it. And I could flip it.
Not sure why Rolex makes so few of these watches but I’m sure they have their reasons.

If you spend 100k and get 50 back when you sell, did you really beat the gray market prices?

Obviously no. I wouldn’t do that. I like the Daytona but I can live without it.

I guess in my free time since I’m retired I can always stop into every dealer I see and hope to get “lucky” or buy a different watch. I have a Deep Sea so I am happy with that.

Absolutely Zero.

AD - Will sell at a Markup

Boutique - Will make you buy Daydates and Celini's at sticker before you can buy anything desirable at sticker.

Grey - Even more Markup.

Edit: If you have a good purchase history with the Boutique they might sell it to you at Sticker without any other purchases, but I am certain they would have asked you to buy something recently a few months ago or a few months later before you ask for the next hot watch.

If its an AD and you have a relationship with them, I think you could expect them to sell you a New watch at a used watch price. Thats more less how it goes.

If you dont have a relationship at all, I wouldnt expect anything from them or expect to pay alot of markup. Its money at the end of the day relationship or not. Everybody needs to make money, even if they like you.

do you *******s have any thoughts on the new oyster perpetuals with the colourful dials?

i'm leaning towards a 36mm with the green face. the tiffany blue is nice too but a little less masculine. i like the explorer in 36 as well but every tom, kunt, and harry in my city seems to have one now and i'd like to be a little different

Edit: If you don't mind spending $10,500 for a $5,700 watch, be my guest. However, at that price, better off getting a datejust36 at retail.

People think they're cliché but i have yet to see one since i've bought the two i have now. All i see are submariners, deepsea, and the occasional persian bruh with a daytona. Havent even seen any daydates.

haven't been to an AD about it, you think it's really that out of the question to get one at retail rn?

dj36 with the blue dial is my second choice. my ex has one though which kind of turns of me off lol

I thought Rolex AD’s could not sell anything at a mark up?
I would buy one at sticker price right now. Why doesn’t Rolex just make more of them?

It’s possible to get lucky. I got a seadweller walking off the street with no prior history. But the stars aligned perfectly for it to happen.

In the Oyster Perpetuals my favorites are the green, silver, and dark blue.

But I’d get the 41mm unless you have a very small wrist.

If you want to be different I wouldn’t buy a Rolex. There are other beautiful watches out there that are better time pieces that not very common.
Me I don’t care what other people buy and think. I buy the watch I like best.

But the Sea dwellers "only" going for a 30% premium over retail though. The green and tiffany dial oyster perpetuals are selling 100% over retail price, literally double. He has about as good a chance of getting one of those as he does getting a BLNR.

And not trying to send shots but i'd be more put off owning a cheaper rolex than my ex lol but i'm gonna stay out your personal business.

I love the new seadweller. You lucky bastid. And I agree on the 41mm. 36 is very small unless you are a really small person it’s now the size a lot of women wear.

For sure. It seems like every celeb picture I see these days they’re rocking a panda whether male or female. Probably just because it’s one of those watches that catches the eye immediately. Seeing Richard milles all over the place as well. But I’m in a small town so I’d never see any in real life, only on Instagram.

Thanks brah. It wasn’t even really on my radar walking in lol. But as soon as I saw it I fell in love with it. Down to a one watch collection and wearing it everyday now. Would love the BLNR and green sub one day. But doubt it’s gonna happen because I’m not gonna pay 3k over retail. Let alone double or more.

I pleaded with my wife not to buy the lady datejust. She just wouldn’t listen to reason. I said the 36mm looks so much better and you can actually see the time.
Nope. “I refuse to wear a mans watch”
And she’s 100% German so it’s not like she couldn’t pull it off.

My uncle got a seadweller at retail too and it wears beautiful. His son bought a ss/gold rootbeer gmt the same day so I’m sure that helped.

I wear my Deepsea on weekends and special occasions. Next up I want to get a Daytona ss in white. I doubt it will ever happen. I also love the new GMT on the jubilee.
I’d like to own a daydate in yellow gold before I die also.

If you like it, you should just get 1. There will never ever ever ever be a point in time where the watch is both desirable/easy to obtain/sold at sticker. These 3 things will probably never coincide.

When the 116500LN 1st came out, my AD told me she could get me 1 before the end of the year if I tell her [now], but the price was $16k. I thought damn thats way more than sticker. Im used to getting a discount, maybe Ill wait till the hype dies down.

Welp….that was about $17k ago. The same piece is about $34-35k now. Next year it will probably still be about the same, if not more.

Honestly I’d rather buy something else at sticker than pay the crazy prices those watches demand even if it cost more than the Daytona’s marked up price.

If it's not Rolex, AP or PP, you should not be paying anywhere near sticker. Outside of those three, I wouldn't buy any mainstream brand unless I got at least 20% off.

I get what youre saying, but you will soon realize that almost everything "cool" has a market price thats much higher than sticker, regardless of brand.
The cooler you think it looks, the more shocking the market price will be.

You can look at the Zenith El Primero. Its a pretty cool watch and very Daytona-ish looking. Its about 7-8k Market.
