All info is pretty much on there lol, but very nice that you still have the official warranty paper! That increases the value significantly.

It's a Tudor ref 7966. Sadly it's a gold plated (golden egg) case, steel would've been better. Anyway, some more info in case you don't know about Tudor; Tudor is/was Rolex's poor man's watch; it's a Rolex case (and design) with a cheaper ebauche movement. Looks like yours is in good condition, except for the crown, which has a lot of wear (can be expensive to replace).

If the dial is pristine (no scratches or spots) it's worth about $750-1250 with the papers. In current condition, I'd say $1k max, more if you have the original box as well. If you have a full set (box & papers) and after service, it would be around $1k-1.7k.

You could buy brand new from grey market for $3.4k and you won't have to worry about service for years.

Is there something I'm missing? I know they are popular but it seems like a couple years ago you could get one in good condition for $2k.

For as long as I've been collecting, which has been like 3 or so years now, you could get a pretty well used one with no box and papers on occasion for like 2.2k, running price has been 2.5-3k for a while now for a good condition with box and papers

i always liked the huawei watch. im a fan of "some" smartwatches. sometimes people forget (due to the 10k applewatch) that these smart watches arent really meant to compete with most mechanical time pieces. i especially like the huawei watch due to its size and shape.

id get 1 myself if it wasnt a china owned company. there were rumors that huawei built its devices, that were to be shipped to taiwan, builtin with spying features for the china government. it was in the news papers last year.

I think the market is just heating up, dare I say approaching bubble territory. And not just for speedies, I'm talking real estate, stocks, etc. Although I did see an early 2000 model with box and papes for 2,2k just 3 months ago. Was local too. I kick myself for not pouncing on it.

Other than that, it's just a very popular watch. Check out the Reddit watches forum if you get a chance (no neckbeard) every other post is a speedmaster. Anyways, just got to keep on looking m8. Don't think there'll be a speedy shortage anytime soon.

Still no Ragrets buying my speedy. Still my favorite watch. Still mesmerized by it on my wrist, and by the fact I was even able to get one on my wrist on my own at my age.

Yes. I'd say inflation is the cause. I'm sure not everyone would agree though.

I'd say economic deflation is the true reason for why things like cars, artwork, and now even watches are skyrocketing in value. When the economy gives you nothing to invest your money in and CDs offer 0.5% interest, then why not put your money in these strange things?

what do you guys think of this hamilton pilot day date? my first watch want something that is casual yet can still look nice dressed up etc. any other recommendations for something similiar in the 1500 and under range? my gf wants to buy me a speedy pro for xmas but im not sure that'd be good for my first watch being a mechanical that i'd have to wind every day. would prefer a metal bracelet and something that makes the biddies wet… thanks bruhs

I had one of those for a while back when I flipped a lot. Really sharp looking watch, Hamilton is a great brand. They come up on the forums uses periodically and you could save some cash if you went that route. But a hammy would definitely be a solid first watch

Would love to hear from some of the more experienced experienced crew members what the market was like in '09. Like what were speedies going for then, new or pre owned? Boutique price is a little over $5k at the moment.

Exactly. My brother wanted to have more money by doing less, so I told him to buy some watches. He bought 5 watches, paid €950 for them. 4 have been sold so far, resulting in €1050 return, while the last one is worth €500 at least. So if that one's sold as well, that's a 50% ROI in only a month or two.

Well, I've only been collecting for 4 years now, but always played/immersed in the used market. 4 years ago prices were definitely lower, both for used as for new. The used market values also follow the new market value, because once a new DJ gets bumped in price, the threshold to own one gets bigger -> more people look at used/vintage -> higher prices. The higher prices for used are also possible because the discrepancy between new and used remains more or less the same thanks to constant price hikes in the new watch department. The price for new speedies has been bumped by $500 in the past year alone. So naturally used will go up as well, though you can still perfectly get a used head only speedy for around 2k.

Anyway, I've talked about this before and will talk about it again. It's been fun to see some of my watches hike a lot in value, while most just hiked 25-50% (which is still not bad, considering they're all vintage). Prices of cheaper Rolexes have all gone up $300-500 on average compared to 4 years ago. I've been watching multiple models, but I'm especially aware of the value history of the Oysterdate and Datejust. Both were definitely cheaper a few years ago, although professional sellers have always been asking a lot for them.

Same goes for Omega and Jaeger-LeCoultre, or for example for vintage Heuer, UG/Martel, EP, Enicar and Zenith chronographs. All have increased a great lot in value over the last few years. It's not a bubble, but more an increase in pricing truer to their actual horological value. For a lot of these, the train has already left the station, while only a few years ago they were cheap as efff. I'd also like to point a finger at Hodinkee for a steep increase in demand, logically followed by a steep increase in prices for a few brands and models.

Vintage Rolex prices (Sub, DJ/DD) are through the roof, but there's also a significant difference between the big Rolex auction results (eg Philips auction), and their actual market value. As for market value, I don't think there's a bubble that will pop, I honestly believe this is only the beginning, especially considering the future in which the globalised (Internet) watch market will be a lot more advanced, and you have even better ways to track and trade legitimate watches.

Not to forget the global watch market demand is ever increasing, while the availability of vintage watches is not only limited, but also decreasing (due to more collectors keeping more and more of the watches they buy). 10 years from now, we'll look at prices now and be like "damn, I missed my shot".

I'm stocking up already, what's your excuse?

Also, just a heads up, the market value for vintage Omega will increase a tremendous lot over the next 5 years, especially if the watches are all original.
