Ditto. Ive had a Daytona on the wrist at an AD (groce TT but still could get the proportions and look), and dont get it outside of the heritage. It's almost meh to look at. Guess thats why i ended up with a speedy.

Hurry up and post pics on new GMT willbruh.

And i sweir, with every post (now about old fashioneds) im becoming more convinced were brothers from another mother.

About to go to the AD in the next hour to put my name in the hat for consideration over the next 3 to 6 months. I think i've been a great customer and they owe me. Going to remind them that I've outwardly told them i have less than 0 interest in the nautilus, submariners, and daytonas… I'm no longer trying to get a stainless steel sky-dweller, never wanted a pepsi, hate the TT root beer, and even though i like them I wouldn't realistically purchase the tiffany blue or green dial OP41. Those are literally all the giga-hyped pieces and i'm telling you to your face i don't want one even if you have it.

That said, just because i don't want those doesn't mean i'm not interested in some pieces that are popular. The Patek 5212a weekly calendar, that rose gold GMT, the rose-gold daydate with green dial (there's a brah itt with one), the Rose Gold sky-dweller with rhodium dial, OR the blnr. If they can't get me any of those pieces i'm just going to stop fuking with them completely. Will then focus on building out my collection with a reverso, omega grey side of the moon, etc.

Kinda dumb, but i do regularly use chronograph functions. Did on my Oris, and I do on my Tudor. Use it before i'm walking somewhere just to find out how long it took, timing something i'm cooking, or my favorite use case just using it to track how much time has passed when i'm stoned since 2 minutes feels like 20minutes most times.

TLDR - She can easily get the RG GMT, but demand is up so much for other pieces (BLNR, datejusts, day dates) that the boutique managers have more leverage and therefor won't even sell precious metal pieces without fuking you in the ass by making you buy some $1,000 montblanc pens, useless bullschit jewelry, or expensive watch winders

For the 5212 Patek, flat out said you don't even get into the consideration of those without first buying another patek, ie. calatrava which are lame as hell.

brb buying $5,000 worth of fuking pens, just to sell them on ebay for $2,000 so i can be allowed to buy a $38,000 watch. fuk this gay earth.

Interestingly enough, they had a exhibition blnr with jubilee that i tried on. fuking lovvvvved it. Then she asked "would you rather have the blnr or the RG GMT?". I completely seized up.

On one hand i already have a jubilee bracelet piece, therefor the RG on oyster should have been the choice by defualt. Temporarily tabling the RG GMT for a moment. I've decided i'm going to sell my Tudor chronograph, and get the Omega Grey Side of the Moon i've been shlling about wanting for 2 years straight. That was the original chronograph i wanted to have for my collection in the first place.

They would pop up pre-owned as low as $6600 but usually could be had new for $8,000. Now they're creeping up to 8800 to 9500 (MSRP is 12000). This goes in line with my AD telling me even Cartier Santos watches are starting to get difficult to keep in. Watch market is getting crazier by the month. I don't even want to know what the Royal Oak market is like these days.


The scary part is knowing that it's likely going to keep getting worse. When I first was getting into the hobby in like 2018. Hulks were the it thing. Guys in here were saying how they got theirs at msrp then they doubled. The Batman on jubilee came out. People were scoffing at paying $14,000 for it now you'd be hard press to find one under 18k. So yeah, definitely going to snag the Grey Side of the Moon before i end up having to pay fuking retail for an omega.

This is not what i expected. But…not surprised in the slightest. People are flush with cash in general if you had a somewhat normal job during this whole craziness. So…everyone is buying what they can/want.

I tried on a few watches this weekend…looking to buy another perhaps in the next year or so.


This Breitling is borderline 10/10 looks and comfort…absolutely love this piece…won't be my next buy, though, but I imagine I'll own it one day




This will be the next purchase…initially wanted the Breitling SO 42, but it didn't wow me on wrist…This Seamaster absolutely did

Have you ever tried on the aqua terra? I love that piece as a go anywhere do anything watch. Never could get on board with the seamaster due to the bracelet style and general shape of it. The breitling navitimer is cool but on wrist it gave me the exact same impression as the Rolex Explorer II. Just looked like a dinner plate on my wrist.

That moonphase speedmaster is the tits, but i think that's one of the versions that runs closer to 14k if i'm not mistaken. That coke gmt just confirms my rant on the last page about vintage rolex pieces. That watch shouldn't be a penny over $8,000. Someone will buy it though, that is for certain.

Yeah I bought the AT in June of this year…love it…wear it daily. Always wanted a diver, though…Actually I initially went looking at divers and once the AT hit the wrist it was game over.

And yeah that speedy is out of my range right now, but fuarkkk I loved it.

I agree with vintage piece rant, but I feel the GMTs/Subs are somewhat in their own class in that regard since they're such clout pieces right now…I fkn loved it on wrist, though lol…wears incredible…perfect size

I used to not like the speedy and never understood it. Until i put one on. Yet again….cant say it enough…go look at chit in the AD. I had a much more positive "reaction" to it than a daytona.

The blue aquaterra makes me hnnnng still. But i think i'd rather just snatch up the DJ41 combo i want. If this market ever cools off.

thoughts on speedy reduced? i like the speedmaster look but the reduced would be a way better fit for my tiny wrists, plus they're like half the price (i see good condition ones for like $2.5-3k). only potential issue i see is that because of the "frankenstein" movement, service costs might be fairly high.
