Yeah so all of you brahs that have a grail piece or a i'll buy Xwatch when i'm Yage piece, might want to turn up the pursuit on those. Yesterday's price, is not today's price. For anything.

Was daydreaming about my RG GMT. Then i thought "yo… that new Rose Gold speedmaster!". Forgot all about how sexy i thought it was initially and went to the website to check it out. Sold out. A precious metal Omega? since fuking when? go on chrono24. In all my (four) years i've been into watches i've literally never seen an omega sell at a premium. These things are starting to sell for a little 2k - 4k premium now.

Speedmasters have also traditionally been a piece you could always expect to get new on jomashop for like 20% off. Now the (non pre-owned) ones may as well be selling at retail. My sales lady at rolex told me my TTDJ41 is now a piece new customers "have to have history for". U fuking wot m8? I swear to you by this time next year, trying to get a submariner will be like trying to get a blue dial royal oak. And those pieces you always wanted that could be had 20 to 30% off…(Reverso, Santos, BB58, Speedmaster) those are all basically full sticker today. Better put that Year End bonus to work.

Go try them on. Preferably side by side whichever one puts the biggest smile on your face is the one you should buy. If you start to reconsider due to any thought around something not being "practical" ignore it. These are $5,000 items bought just to tell time. None of it is practical.

You're not wrong. I'm seeing used Omega and Tudor pieces for full retail, which blows my mind.

Although I long ago accepted… if a x-% price increase makes a real difference to me, I probably shouldn't be buying it anyway.

So this hobby lasted a good 2 months for me, got me a Bluesy Sub and a SS no date Sub from the AD.

Then I realized this is pathetic and crazy, I'm done with this bs and now I mostly wear a gshock.

Tried this piece on in person. I didn't like the overly realistic "earth" on the watch, then the sizing was a tad large. I like it, but it is a piece that would have to be gifted to me I couldn't part with $9,000 for it.

Had a rare day off to do whatever I wanted. Decided to go hit the watch boutiques just to shmooze and get a pulse on things.


Omega : Everything in stock as always. Just no steep discount on the grey market anymore. The Rose Gold Speedmaster professional was not in stock but I was told "If that is the one you want, i can get it for you". However, they definitely did their best to steer me away from it and commit to a less desirable piece. A year from now, i would not be shocked to see that piece become a "you have to have some purchase history with us" type of piece. IF they're even still manufacturing them a year from now.

Vacheron Constantin : Everything in stock EXCEPT the Overseas, in any configuration. I played dumb pretending like i didn't know anything about the brand. He said "The models on bracelet" (overseas), only come in every few months. The now infamous blue dial rose gold piece they'll get 1 ever 12 to 15 months. So it seems the now castaway cope-royaloak/nautilus from VC is now on dat der Submariner time. Obtainable but like… you're gonna wait a couple months to get offered one and even then it'll likely be whatever they have. One of the ugly dual-times or the underwhelming silver dial.


Audemars Piguet: laugh my ass off. when i say they had NOTHING to offer you, i mean absolutely nothing. You can't even look at a code11 because those are getting snatched up now. If you were ever hoping to get a royal oak at retail you can forget it.


I'm just going to bend the knee and buy a handful of $500 pens from my Rolex AD so i can get the 126715 at retail ($38,250). The absolute cheapest mint/unworn ones going for $52,000 on grey now and only climbing.



Side Note: Tudor hype dying a little bit. I think this almost certainly from people buying the Tudor GMT and Black Bay 58 as cope rolexes coming into some extra money from stocks/crypto. BB58s and the Tudor GMTs were selling for 2 or 3k over retail 2 years ago, now they're selling at 20% discounts. If you need a beater or an entry level <4k piece, now is the time to scoop one up.

messaged the seller and the only real catch is that because the strap is alligator leather, they can't ship the strap to me and will have to give me a calf leather replacement. also the price works out to closer to $3k once you factor in sales tax, etc.

Not sure what they msrp is on that. If 3k is more than 25% off msrp then yea. Otherwise you can go to an AD
