What are the chances that it was real? It looked authentic to me, but im not an expert. Only thing that makes me question is that didn't this watch just come out? Also, the kid was probably no more than 25 years old. But he was asian though so idk
Asians LOVE their fancy ****. Could be ridiculously wealthy from money back home or could be a great fake.

Got dam. Youโ€™d have to have a wrist thicker than proudmanlet to rock that AP.

Yeah I told my friend to buy it for his wife like a month or two ago because it wouldn't get any cheaper as Christmas arrives, thinking maybe it might be 1-2k more expensive. Just LMAO at what's happened. I don't remember what he told me but I think he paid around 17k.

The thing with the ROO to me is they don't seem to be aging well in looks, imo. Like 5 years ago they were the hottest chit AP made and the regular RO was the slow mover. Now it's done a complete 180. A friend of mine had a blue dial RO that he sold for something like 14k back then, and now the fuking thing is 60+.

What is a โ€œdecentโ€ price to pay for an authentic SS jubilee band on the grey market?

Are there any third-party dupes with solid construction quality?

I was at King of Prussia mall yesterday and took a look in Bucherer, which happens to be connected to a rolex boutique . The boutique had some display watches but absolutely nothing for sale, but in the same retail space they had plenty of "pre-owned" sport models. They wanted 40k for their SS daytonas. It would not surprise me if the boutique employees sold them to Bucherer employees who then listed for 4x msrp as "used" watches for a cut.

Almost pulled the trigger on a Grand Seiko snowflake today, didnโ€™t have a Birch

Store I went to also has a Rolex section and they gave me a nice hardcover catalogue, had absolutely nothing in stock. Dude said they do get a few pieces in every now and then but theyโ€™re gone instantly. Not ready yet to dip my toes all the way into the buying waters so just chatted about demand and the secondary market.

About to spend a small fortune on a Buben Zorweg watch winder to get the spend required for them to get me my 126715. Can't justify buying nice jewelry for a 23 year old girlfriend.

As an aside, rolex defintiely raised the msrp by $1,000 on all GMT Master 2s. batgirl now 10,750. Rosegold is now 39,350.

Heading to Vegas this weekend. Will check out the Boutique shops in Caesars (staying there) and the larger retailers in the Venetian mall. Might be the year I pick up something.

No Rolexes as I'm sure there is nothing in stock that I would be interested in.

Still love the Zenith Bronze Pilot.
IWC Big Pilot
IWC Portugieser
Speedy Pro (really thinking this will be the one)
Do like some of the Panerei pieces too.

Not sure what I'll do.

Hmm, haven't looked at the Big Pilot in person in more than a year, but don't remember it being potato. Will look again, and yes, leaning heavily towards the Speedy. I would assume that a steel/steel with Sapphire crystal would be available, but who knows.

I don't know of any, but if they are out there, they won't be easy to get for obvious reasons. Maybe something like a Tudor BB58, but you're probably looking at retaining value at best.

If you're looking for a non rolex in the 5k to 10k range to retain value, you just have to buy smart. You can get obscure stuff like Glashutte and have it retain value if you buy it at the right price.

Omega Speedmaster Professional at retail or a 10% discount is pretty safe.

Jaeger Le Coultre Reverso 15 to 20% off is also a good store of value. I highly recommend everyone go try on a reverso in person. I know they're kinda cliche loved like the speedmaster but they're actually pretty awesome in person.

Glashutte panomatic lunar (poor man's lange1) between 6k and 7k is also a pretty safe buy. I see those getting bought/sold all the time but absolutely do not pay retail.

Cartier Santos is another piece that seems to be holding value fairly well, but probably a touch redundant if you already have two datejusts. Not that they look the same but it's the same genre of "steel bracelet dressy/sporty"
