Do any of the Rolex fans ITT have any love for cellini’s?

What’s your opinion on them ? I never quite understood their purpose

You nailed it with the second part. It's just not their….type of watch. I've seen one in person too and it's just….nope.

If the rumors of them being pulled from the US market are true, I guess that answers the question. The fact that there even are rumors probably answers the question.

I always thought the cellinis came on straps but the Rolexes came on bracelets?

Depends on model. The cellini is much more of a "dress" watch. Just isnt really on point with rolex's MO in my opinion. Some of the other models do come with rubber straps though. But that goes back still to the utilitarian nature.

I dunno about pulling them from market, but my AD says Cellinis which always sat in the cases have been getting bought up instantly. Seems similar to whatever is going on with the Audemars Code11. When it came out all the bloggers said the same thing. Great laquer dial but wtf with this case design? Now it's the only thing you can buy from AP so they're flying off the shelves.

As far as bubble popping… i dunno. I feel like in order for the luxury goods bubble to pop, the stock market has to blow up 40%+. Feds print more money, wealthy people get wealthier with their stockmarket gains that are propped up on the money printer so the wealthy now have more disposable income to throw at absurd grey market prices.

TLDR: Economy will have to be on dat der 2009 time before luxury items come back down to earth. In which case a WHOLE LOT of peoples' desire for a 5figure watch would evaporate.

Have you spoken to RSC? Curiosity got the best of me and I just called RSC Beverly Hills, and they said silver can only be changed to the dark blue or black. Turquoise, red, yellow, green can only be replaced with the same color.

Also asked about swapping a RG DD white dial to olive and was told no.

And the obvious SS Daytona can't swap between white and black.

She called it a "Geneva exchange" which applies to certain dials that are restricted from being changed. Blue SkyD being another one of them.

It's all BS. It's just laughable to see empty cases at ADs and then log on to…say TRF…and see pages of anything you want. ad nauseam

It was interesting to see the Boutique's in Vegas. Had one case full of watches, with a sign that said, "for exhibit only".

there is an rsc in boston now and they quoted me 6 months to service my skydweller….so i feel like its a risk regardless

6 months? Yikes.

I actually had the opportunity, before the one AD i was going to locally closed, to buy a white SkyD….the AD received it and you could not adjust the date and it needed to be serviced. Sadly, it was nice, but just didnt want to drop the coin on something i didnt really want and then immediately bring it back in the next day to say "hey this is broke" and play the game. Glad i didnt since that AD closed up Rolex shop.

It wasnt the AD. I think it was rolex themselves. He showed it to me knowing the date didnt adjust and that the Rolex Rep was giving them the run around on getting it fixed. To the point where it was…fine we're selling it to a customer and ill just take it back and send it to service day 1. Their relationship had really started to sour with rolex so i believe it.

Ive also wanted to visit the AD in upstate NY next week during the next work trip. They originally got me my AK back in '19 and the sales associated left a few months later so i was like fukk it and stopped going. I kinda regret that, but also kinda dont want to go in to an AD anymore. Just seems useless considering what i see on the forums, and the fact that im really just interested in 1, 2 more things max.

Was this your choice on configuration? Or was this what was available?

Goes against the grain of the typical DJ in just about every aspect, aside from dial color…I'm not mad at it tbh

This is a great question actually and i agree. On one hand that would probably be like my 9th or 10th choice as far as DJ configurations go. On the other hand, modern date-function rolex with roman numerals AND a blue dial. What more does he REALLY need? Could be a "one and done" collection piece in all honesty.

Smiles in 126715. Flying to ***** later today and will be out there a week. Will likely take a spin around some ADs at some point just to see what the market looks like over there.

Box & paperwork showed up. Boutique shipped it home for me so I didn't have to pack it in my carry on bag for the trip home.
