Honestly, nothing I want in the 1-2k range…….Only goal is a birth year Rolex or a brand new, whichever comes first when i am ready to buy. I don't do anything special enough to warrant a 1k+ watch. Also the Purple g shock is selling for over 500$…..its a rare one. And the green metal one is going for 300-400. Didn't pay near that for both.

G-shocks are the poor mans rolex, they hold their value and increase.

Odd take here…not sure what you mean.

Like special as in to commemorate it with a watch or you don't do anything special to wear it?

Nothing strikes my fancy? I have the money to buy……but I kinda like what I like and don't find many 1k+ watches I like. I would only want the birth year Rolex to commemorate and my sons birth year Rolex when he turns 21. As those will be heirlooms.

Could I be missing something about watches? Only asking because people tend to hate on other peoples tastes unless it involves a 20k+ purchase.

There's definitely a separation between watch enthusiasts and luxury watch enthusiasts.

I appreciate a G-Shock for what it is…almost bought one recently, in fact, for golfing…but owning multiple I can't wrap my mind around… because that's not my thing. Like what ya like.

Same goes with the replica…I think it's gross and you like it…like what ya like.

I don't think anyone is hating ITT, just different tastes…but I know what you mean.

I love you and the way you think.

Also the new metal g-shocks "Casioaks" are amazing looking to me…..I got every color but red (way too much noise). They fit every style of dress I wear……I don't own a suit as I don't do suit chit. lol

I respect you for that, and glad it just has to do with personal taste and money.

Picked this up today, IN on misc wristwatch crew

I also inherited my grandfather's 1950s Rolex oyster perpetual date a few months ago. Still need to take the time to find somewhere that can service a vintage rolex because the crown seems to be broken

And relief washes over me in an awesome wave

Absolutely LOVE the Speedmaster 3575.20, and am thinking of pulling the trigger for my first Omega. Complete set for $3700 is a solid deal, no?

No idea if that's a good deal or not, but I really do not like that watch. I'm not a huge Omega fan to begin with, but I can appreciate the Speedy for what it is, but not that one.

Nothing from Ball, Lum-Tec, Sinn, Certina, Hamilton, Stowa etc catches your eye in that price range? Wow!

Hell, even Luminox or the Victorinox automatics are pretty decent and still less than 1K.

So with the rising inflation, WW3 coming, and supply chain issues. Think people will now spend less and watches will be in rolex cases now?

People who can afford rolex aren't going to slow down spending. People are scooping up rolex as a hedge against inflation, making an already challenging market an impossible market.

We bought our house in spring of 2010, according to zillow our house is now worth 85% more than we paid lol

We get letters in the mail regularly from banks offering more than 90% over what we paid.

Hey brahs, I need some opinions on a JLC I am looking at (to replace the one that was stolen). Itโ€™s a black dial ultra thin moonphase. There are two versions of it that I am interested in, an older one, and a current version.

1. The older one has less in terms of power reserve, shorter markers (which I like), and a yellow moon & stars (which I also like). The moon seems more classic/whimsical. Iโ€™d have to get it pre-owned

Spoiler!

2. The newer one has a white moon and stars. The band is attached a bit deeper into the lugs, which may cause overhang on a wrist like mine. Still, itโ€™s new, itโ€™s movement is better on paper, and itโ€™s only 1.5k or so more after dealer discounts.

Spoiler!

What do you think?
