1. The older one has less in terms of power reserve, shorter markers (which I like), and a yellow moon & stars (which I also like). The moon seems more classic/whimsical. I’d have to get it pre-owned

Spoiler!

2. The newer one has a white moon and stars. The band is attached a bit deeper into the lugs, which may cause overhand on a wrist like mine. Still, it’s new, it’s movement is better on paper, and it’s only 1.5k or so more after dealer discounts.

Spoiler!

#2 has a 70 hour power reserve, vs 43 on #1. Thats significant. The pragmatist in me says it’s a no brainer, get the new version. But I simply like how the older looks more. The pop of color, shape of the markers, etc.

Same answer from me. While a longer PR is a legitimate real world benefit, I'm not going to be miring it when I could be looking down and preferring the other model's aesthetics, or looking down and not liking how the watch fits or feels when it's on my wrist.

As an example, the Rolex 3135 vs. the 3235.. The 3235 for all practical reasons only has a higher PR, but is also less bulletproof than the 3135 currently is. I like the power reserve increase, but it means nothing to me if I prefer the looks of a similar model, all things else similar. Like, you're not wearing a spec sheet or something on your wrist, you're wearing something that you look down at and it makes you smile for the shape, design, beauty or whatever, and also the engineering. With JLC the engineering is covered no matter which model, so I go with the aesthetics and fit/comfort.

watches are an emotional purchase not a logical one, and it looks like your heart is set on #1 so that's the way to go IMO

Hey creative minds, give me some ideas for straps for this guy.

I have the factory bracelet, a black leather strap, and this silicone strap.

TOKYO, March 1, 2022 — Casio Computer Co., Ltd. announced today the release of a new addition to the MR-G series, the flagship line of the G-SHOCK brand of shock-resistant watches. The new MRG-B5000 is the first MR-G timepiece to feature the iconic design of the very first G-SHOCK.

With a nod to the design of the DW-5000C, the first-ever G-SHOCK released in 1983, the MRG-B5000 now brings a brilliant shine and dignified distinction to the shock-resistant watch by employing cutting-edge metals finished with master polishing craftsmanship.

My younger sister is graduating college and is going to get a Rolex as a graduation gift. What’s the best date just configuration I can recommend her? She wants a jubilee bracelet. But not sure about what color would look nicest. Was thinking either silver or the sunburst.

Gonna try and talk to my AD and see if purchasing a ladies watch will help my chances at something nice. Lol

Very tough to say. A few years ago my friend asked me to go with him and his wife to get her a DJ. Pretty much everything I said went out the window and she picked out her own. SS Jubilee with fluted bezel and mother of pearl dial with diamond markers.

A 33-year-old man wearing a six-figure Richard Mille watch was shot outside a four-star Midtown hotel early Friday, according to cops and police sources.

Nothing was stolen from the victim.
Damn, I guess the gunman hated it so much he didn’t care what it was worth.

Datejust comes in like 3 dozen configs. In an ideal world, you'd go in and see whichever one she likes best. In today's real world, you take whichever datejusts AD are willing to give you.

I had the funds to pick up my 126715 but i spent that on a jpeg, so that's temporarily on hold.

This. If you want something specific, cross your fingers, then start going into the AD weekly to chat them up with the reason why you want it.

Somewhat embarrassing but just the type of color-offerings/price-point to appeal to IG-related cringe to make them fly off the shelves and make Omega relevant again.

this may be controversial, but honestly i really like these. i think they're very playful and fun and give you a speedy-esque experience for a fraction of the price. i think that they're going to be a big cash cow for omega/swatch and also act as a gateway drug for the world of speedmasters.

i know they're only going to release them at swatch retail stores for now but i've heard that they're going to eventually sell them online so that should keep the scalpers/flippers at bay.

I like the colorschemes too. They're gonna be huge with the seiko/g-shock crowd i'm certain of it. Think i might get my 23 year old girlfriend one and tell her it's a speedy pro limited edition.

Yet, this seems to be Omega conceeding the knee to their Rolex overlords. It's almost relieving to be honest. Seeing them roll out that globemaster with the "fluted" bezel was just pathetic. They should be seen in that respectable mid tier, to lower-high tier range with Tudor/Cartier. Trying to be Rolex was a losing battle.

nah i don't think they're conceding because they're still trying to blatantly go after the rolex crowd. like the new aqua terras with the colorful sunburst dials

maybe this is biased because i have 2 omegas (one vintage seamaster cosmic and a newer aqua terra) but i think in terms of history and quality, omega can go toe to toe with rolex. but they just lack that cool/hype/marketing factor that rolex has.

Yup, it’s the black dial. The blue dial is gorgeous, agreed. Some of the more reserved watch boyos were really happy with the new version, where the moon is silver. Definitely more subtle, but I like the pop of gold, and frankly, these watches are pretty subdued already.

I have not been interested in 'expensive' watches before but this Frederique Constant Monolithic looks awesome. The escapement is one piece of silicone that bends and moves the second hand at 40Hz or 288,000 beats per hour. Too bad I am poor.

I don't think anyone who plans on buying an Omega will not buy it because of a Swatch. If anything they will get both and Imo people who otherwise never thought about Omega might get one after this introduction. Plus Omega must be getting a percentage of sales.

Nice enough watch, but buying an FC you should be aiming at like 50% off. I just checked Chrono24 and there are few and they seem to be listed for retail brand new, but you'll take an absolute bath on it if you pay anything close to that.
