Bro I get it - you need to sell arms. It is simple. There just isn't a need for ancient technology going fast. There IS a need for true Hypersonic weapons, which the US has in development as does China. GVs and HCMs. None are operational. Russia has none in development. Raytheon won this contest and will be in service by 2027. The Kinzhal can't do anything more to Ukrainian apartment buildings than their subsonic Tomahawk equivalents. There just isn't a need in theater. It exists to HYPE their arms sales.

We really do need to make a no fly zone in Ukraine though. I am ready for NATO to get in there. You don't even need hypersonic defense to defeat Kinzhal as it's not a hypersonic system. Shoot down the MiG-31 that fires it, the missile is then useless to the Russians. That's why it is a such a dumb system. It requires an airplane to fly it to Mach 2 before it's even fired.

Russia still uses Soyuz capsules and 45 year old rockets to send man into orbit. We are supposed to believe they have advanced rocket and missile designs? LMFAO! US rockets land on a fukkin drone ship in the ocean and are used again.

What is a hypersonic weapon?

Modern hypersonic weapons are classified mainly into hypersonic glide vehicles (HGV) and hypersonic cruise missiles. An HGV is similar to traditional intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), where high-velocity rocket boosters carry them into the atmosphere. A glider is deployed and then travels at hypersonic speeds and travels towards its target at such speeds after reentry.

A hypersonic cruise missile requires advanced propulsion systems called supersonic combusting ramjet (scramjet), which requires air to flow through a ramjet engine at supersonic speeds. In theory, hypersonic cruise missiles can take a horizontal path toward their target. However, weapons based on this technology are still developing, so nobody truly knows how they will work.

Where does Kinzhal fit in?

I wonder what it is you think you're accomplishing with this?

These are young men out here dying, no matter where you fall on this war. There is a desperate attempt to hold on to this ground by Ukraine. There isn't much behind it and the Donetsk soon falls afterward. There's no where to stage at a significant level.
