Funny enough, was scrolling through my youtube subs, and come across this:

Interesting listen, especially coming from the largest grey dealer here in the UK lol, props for them not trying to pull wool over their customers eyes with sugar coated opinions on the market.

Yup. I thought it was a very honest discussion. Never know who to believe anymore with this stuff though.

If you wanna make a ton of money, try getting on the list to buy the new G550 4x4^2
I don’t think enough people have heard of it yet so might get an allocation.

thinking of getting omega planet ocean. is it worth it at msrp of $6550 + taxes?

due to inflation, i want to put my money into something tangible and at the same time, i always wanted to get a nice diver watch. the most expensive watch i have is hamilton, need something more grown up and ability to dress up.

second option,i really liked ball watches tritium tubes idea as i am a night person and always struggling to see time in the dark but heard Ball are not worth their price and use ETA movement…same as on my hamilton gmt.

I honestly forgot what my take on wrist clean was. If i'm being honest, i really think it's the exact same type of concoction that is in eyeglass cleaner. Smells the same at least.

My AD will give 20% off on Omega without even asking. Find another dealer if yours won't discount.

Fluted/Jubilee Stainless bracelet + Blue dial - $9,900. Today this is selling for $17,000

Do dealers take into account the taxes paid on the watch when offering a price?

I probably won't sell these but am just curious how they handle it.

The total I paid for these with tax was $25,384, and if a dealer gives me 80% of their selling price ($35,000), I'd get $28,000.. which is barely worth selling for
They don't care what you paid for tax because a) they don't care, and b) they are usually licensed resellers and the only time they care about tax is if they have to charge you after selling something to you.

I'd say if you got the numbers you posted, you'd be doing very well. I don't think you'd get those numbers though.

If you're a private seller with no very solid history, I would expect to get at a minimum of 10% less (probably more than 10% less) than what trusted sellers are selling for.

I happen to have a good relationship with my Omega AD, but I think anyone with a little effort should be able to get a similar deal. My relationship would help me negotiate more than the 20% off.

Bought my speedy from a boutique in Vegas, so take this as you may (no relationship). No discounts offered and when I enquired, she politely told me no. They were selling watches like crazy.

Bought at MSRP.

I've bought from Crown & Caliber. I like to buy from their eBay store - eBay ships the watch to Stoll & Co (independent watch repair place in Ohio) to authenticate it before sending the watch to you (eBay pays for the service). Makes buying watches online super easy (srs)

Got my speedy at the Omega store earlier this year for like $7100. I’d always wanted one but it ended up being a totally impromptu purchase (technically my wife bought it for me) so I did zero research on pricing, etc.
And relief washes over me in an awesome wave

I did that a while back when i got my speedy. Speedy is the one that usually wouldnt get the discount if any dont. I figured what the hell, it's good faith with the dealer.

Then they promptly ended their rolex affiliation (it was Reeds in lynnhaven mall).

Looks like it's almost exactly 10% off MSRP, which is a pretty decent deal IMO but i'm personally not a fan of the gray dial variant. but the blue dial version with the blue rubber strap…hnnnggggg

Yeah, boutiques are usually a no-go. My AD will happily give me 20% off on a Panerai, but when I was in the Panerai boutique on Rodeo, the guy basically said there's not much they can do because they're a boutique, but could maybe do like 2%.
