What do I do? I like both designs. The Bathyscaphe seems more modern, but I'm sad it doesn't have drilled lugs. Wearing a $10k daily, having screws would make me feel better. I've lost a watch snagging the strap before.

Other than that, there's obviously a big price diff too.

I've been eyeing the 38mm Bathyscaphe for like 1-2 years now, but it's been on of my buy something just to buy something watches list. If I can get 20% off out the door I might pull the trigger. I had a Blancpain Leman jumbo date years ago and the movement was really well finished.

Hello watch crew

I am looking for a fairly inexpensive watch winder for my girlfriend's son who is getting an automatic watch. Nothing crazy in price but something fairly reliable.

Depends on what you mean by inexpensive. The cheapest ones are junk and loud. Wolf is a solid brand and you can usually find them for a good deal if you search around.

Yeah, wolf watch winders will be the only ones worth getting without jumping into the $2,000 category

Better movements than rolex excluding the sky-dweller in general. At least from a "movement finishing" stand point. But everyone goes through the same process when looking into these watches. You'll find a few you like, but when it ackshually comes time to spend 10k on a non-rolex watch… simply can't be done.

Right now I have two datejusts, both fluted/jubilee, one of them is stainless steel/blue dial, other is everrose two tone/sundust dial.

Reason being, the watches serve the same purpose, they're both used in the same situations, so they're sort of redundant; I'm debating selling the blue dial in favor of a JLC moonphase blue dial as it's more dressy, and also picking up the grey dial aqua terra with blue strap. if I can swing 15k for the blue dial Rolex this would be enough to pay for the JLC + Omega

That gives me:

Everrose two tone sundust dial Rolex
Black strap blue dial moonphase JLC
Blue strap grey dial aqua terra Omega

Three different bands, three different dial colors, and three different brands

Rolex would be for both casual and formal, JLC would be formal, Omega just casual

I guess the only concern would be the loss in value I'd see if I ended up with a JLC/Omega in lieu of the datejust. Fairly substantial I'd wager
I'd sell the blue dial for no other reason than i like the added weight and feel of the two-tone gold datejust. Don't go "diversifying" for the sake of doing it though. I've wanted to snag a jlc a few times but just couldn't do it. Make sure any watch you go to, you at least like as much as the blue dial datejust.

Currently trying to get one of the hermes arceau voyageur in hand myself

I spoke to a Rolex AD who had gotten my hopes up for a SD43, but who seems to have been blowing smoke. I'm not willing to bring flowers and chocolate and beg to buy a watch, so now I'm looking at BP, GO, etc. Lol

I love the SeaQ panorama date, but I just worry how that design will age.

Excluding the reverso, I think the designs are lame af in person.

The ones that are to my liking inch up toward a price point where i have trouble justifying. For example the blue dial ultra thin moonphase looks really nice, but it's around $10,000… just have trouble pulling the trigger at that price cause it doesn't *look* like a $10,000 watch. yes ego.

Contrary to the others, I picked up a cheap one to get me by for a while. Went with https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's actually surprisingly quiet. It's only been running for a few weeks now, so I can't comment on longevity. Might die tomorrow or in 3 years.

I've legit paid $50 for a six watch winder and was happy with it.

Only negative I have ever heard is that some may increase wear on the movement by rotating too much.

"Awesome looking" is subjective. If you have a low bar for being impressed, then god bless you. Blue dial Vacheron Patrimony is done better in my opinion.

Doesn't matter which watches I own. I've held both the JLC and Vacheron in hand several times, and the JLC blue dial ultrathin is just "nice". I don't blindly dickride any brand whether that be tudor, jlc, rolex, vacheron or any other brand.

No watch beef. One person has actually tried on and held the piece in person. Another person blindly follows watch youtubes telling them about the HoLy TrInItY and actually believes the hype. Owning a watch is not like owning a car (or going to space????). The visual experience is 90 to 95% of the experience. There's no opinion-changing experience to be had by owning it.

Side Note: Patek Calatrava is also produced by mUh hOlY tRiNiTy and i promise you, there won't be another watch over $15,000 that you'll get bored with quicker.

lol, imagine comparing a watch's cost to why you should or shouldnt get it…. shows most of the posters here have no idea what theyre talking about when it comes to this caliber of watches..

and lol @ comparing an omega to a jlc …. lol …you dont likes dress watches others dont like casual or dive watches….. and for a lower cost you can get a g-shock or a knock off … i mean you can always go enjoy your oyster perp.
