Human beings are the only beings on this planet that you actually understand. You know how we deal with pain, loss, and how horrific those feelings can be. What kind of weird sick piece of shyt would say "so what, fuk the japanese" when you know what that caused to the civilians living there and their families. Meanwhile, you have literally no idea what that rabbit felt and you're having an emotional breakdown over it. You're a jackass.

you put your scent on the rabbits and nest.
at this point, she may kill the babies even if she comes back (srs, they bite off the heads)
Also, the mother was probably waiting for it to be clear and safe seeing the area by the nest disturbed/mowed, so she will probably lay low till night time.

Found some pics of the bunny, his name was Sir Bouncealot and his motto was "live; laugh; love"

Let's leave it at that.
I care about the surviving rabbits.
What should I do? Should I just let them go and hope momma rabbit finds them, or should I keep them pinned up and feed them myself until they are old enough to survive on their own?

I would've just stomped on it's head. More brutal, but should be pretty instant.
On the positive side, I hear death by drowning is pretty painless once you stop trying to hold your breath.

you touched them so your scent will tell the mother to stay the eff away from them. you are pretty much their only hope OP. Feed them Alfalfa pellets and timothy hay. dont give it fckn carrots and apples and lettuce and sheit, these things will only give it explosive diarrhea. make sure it has lots of water. Take a shoebox and cut a hole just big enough for them to crawl through and stuff it with dry grass and stuff so they can go in there and burrow up and stay warm. they get cold that small. Also if you put a tray in there and top it with grass where you see them peeing the most they will litter train. Sources: I has my own rabbit.

really cant disagree with pat (aka postman pat; aka bustacapp) on this one.
drowning is probably one of the most INhumane ways to kill another being, aside from torture or whatever. you should've sliced his neck clean off or smashed it with a rock IF you wanted to be really 'humane' as you put it, considering you had no gun.
although pat's logic is somewhat.. retarded:

What's that? Oh **** what have I done? I hit a baby rabbit with the weed eater in the grass. To spare you all the gory details, it screwed him up very badly so he was gone.
To make a long story short, the weed eater did damage to one of them that I had to put him down. It messed him up very bad but he was still crawling so I did what I had to to unfortunately. This bothered me more than I care to share.
There was 5 total. That 1 is dead. 2 scurried up out of the hole and off in different directions and hid, and I caught two.
These are the two I caught.

I put them in a cardboard box very near to where they were, but where momma rabbit could still get to them if she tried.
this is the hole that they were in. It was originally covered in grass and rabbit hair.

That was 9 hours ago. Momma rabbit has not come back yet. We've seen her in the back yard many times before, but not tonight.
What should I do misc?

Honest OP that sounds horrifying, but I mean taking the human factor out of the equation, I guess its death was no different than getting ripped to shreds by a hawk or strangled by a snake..

Not reading 3 pages of replies but op rabbits are different in that they will smell you have disturbed the nest or touched the babies and she will not come back or will kill the babies. You either raise them or they goners. The ones that ran away might have the best chance of being with their mom but any that you touched are not gonna be accepted anyway.

Honestly, pick the little brah up by his rear legs, swing him around fast so the blood rushes to his head and chop in the opposite direction with the other arm or hit him on a log or something.

Put them back. Not sure why you took them out and into the box in the first place.
My dog destroyed 2 baby rabbits like that last year (probably by accident). He sniffed out their burrow, tried to dig them out and in the process, scratched them so badly with his paws that their intestines were hanging out and limbs were torn off. Those things were very young and weak. Mom rabbit came back that night, saw it through my kitchen window. She was looking for them but couldn't find them. Was very sad to watch. I buried the dead baby rabbits nearby, just hours earlier.
