mailmen make some decent cash in my area. I imagine if you lived in an area with a yearly decent climate it would be an excellent job. It has to suck being out walking in the -10 degree winter and the 90+ summer however where I live.

I already have a first class degree in IT LOL. I would prefer a job where you just have tasks you need to get done without sitting with the same people for 8 hours a day for 5 days a week . I naturally overthink and it makes me uncomfortable just being there.

Trudging along in all weathers for minimum wage doesn't sound the best but if you enjoy it then good luck to you.

I worked for the Post office in MN for 5 years, I was a RNC (Rural Route Carrier). You got to be kidding me it is a terrible job, the pay is only good if you live out in the country. The wages are same across the whole nation (union), so if you work in NYC you get paid the same for a person who lives in Wyoming. The job is brutally boring and if you have a career as a carrier you have no ambition at all and should just ldar.

Sometimes they take on an extra route valued at, say, an extra 3 hours, and they're back home at 3-4pm getting paid for an 8 hour work day with 3 hours time and a half overtime.

Honestly, it sounds like a pretty sweet gig, especially if you deliver in a nice neighbourhood, like to walk, listen to music, have conversations with lots of people, etc.

People always gave my mailman buddy gifts around xmas too, really nice things.
but who was job fulfillment?
Knowing the next 30+ years of my life would be consisting of spending most of my day delivering mail for a modest salary would have me suicidal by 30
