And my dog has fear based aggression. I've worked with behaviorists for a couple years and it helped quite a bit, but he still gets afraid when people he doesn't know come to the door. So maybe you should consider the situation before passing judgement you fukking loser. Deconditioning a fear based dog is the hardest thing to do in canine behavior modification. Peasant.

Honestly the word "privilege" gets thrown around alot, often without any basis or validity but cops are the one "group" where a sense of privilege absolutely does exist and is constantly taken advantage of.
Oh yeah real tough guy-you would be in such a crazy rage you would wait until the cop had his weapon holstered & then calmly shoot him dead like a coward.

Maybe you should have bought a dog who didn't have that, your dog is probably scared because by this post you are obviously an aggressive person, you probably shout at it non-stop & kick it regularly, probably chain it up to the back fence all day in the boiling heat like a true meathead.

Yeah cops are all evil, every citizen is upstanding etc.

When did I say remove themselves from the situation? I said back away from the entryway. Again, they aren't pursuing a wanted suspect or executing a warrant, why do they have to be RIGHT UP at the doorstep if they're just having a follow-up conversation? They could have just as easily backed away and called the owner and still maintained control over the situation.

I don't have extensive knowledge of police work or their SOP but neither you nor Will have really given me any help as far as providing legitimate insight.

The owner had a responsibility to secure the dog, yes, but the cops also never gave them a chance. They also have a responsibility to engage the situation with whatever options are available to them BEFORE resorting to deadly force. The issue I have is that the cops did nothing to engage the situation in any way other than to further escalate and instantly deploy deadly force.

The Supreme Court has ruled that the home is entitled to maximum search protection. Even if they have probable cause to believe something illegal is going on inside your home, the 4th Amendment requires police to get a signed search warrant from a judge to legally enter and search.

They can also enter if you give them explicit permission to, which the girl clearly did not.

God damn police are such pussies these days. We need brave men to enforce the law, not scared bitches with guns. In fact, cops should not even have a side arm, if you need to kill someone you get a rifle from your car or call swat. We need to develop a body armor that is impenetrable to small arms fire and dogs so cops can issue a ****ing ticket without squeezing off six rounds because they are TERRIFIED that they are going to get hurt or killed.
It is not so much the major events as the small day-to-day decisions that map the course of our living. . . Our lives are, in reality, the sum total of our seemingly unimportant decisions and of our capacity to live by those decisions. ― Gordon B. Hinckley

Actually I've never raised a hand to my dog, I hardly even yelled at him. Positive reinforcement, lots of attention and exercise. Nice attempt at trying to rile me up tho, but it didn't work because you obviously know absolutely nothing about animal behavior issues.

I reserve aggression for humans. Particularly choads like you.

While I agree with you as far as training, barking/growling @ people that come to the door is different than baking/growling at someone who is pushing the front door open, with no one familiar at the door. That's like saying it's unreasonable for someone to defend themselves if you saw someone opening your front door without your consent. Obviously you wouldn't shoot a stranger who knocks on the door, but uninvited opening? I'd definitely try to defend myself

and before you say they weren't intruding or anything...the dog doesn't know that. It doesn't understand what police officers are, or guns are, or anything like that. There was a pretty long space of time between the owner leaving and the dog showing up.

I won't disagree that the owner should have made sure the dog was secured before even opening the door...it's what I would have done if I didn't know who was at the door.

But I don't think we'll ever agree that the cops are blameless in this situation.

It's no surprise that untrained government workers continue to make mistakes like this. Many cops go through bullchit training nowadays and have no idea how to deescalate force in any situation. People not able to understand this are just as retarded as the die hard libs saying that all cops are chitty people.

Lol at that bitch crying like a baby at the end, took that to wake her out of her drug induced stupour. The comment from her that the dog was her best friend says it all, it is a pet not a human being. It is not supposed to be your friend/your equal-you are supposed to be in charge of the house, not letting the dog take control as they are predisposed to do if you don't train them properly & guess what-if you weren't harbouring your druggie, criminal relative then the cops wouldn't be there at all.

The door had the momentum to shut. The cop stopped it from shutting and opened it. That is using force to gain entry and open a door.

By the way look at this page from her sisters mugshot from earlier in the year-look at the tags at the bottom, is that a joke that people can actually suggest rude tags to be added to mugshots?

I like how you're cherry picking from my responses to find the only parts that you can actually raise a point of contention to.

I'm not denying that the dog owner had a responsibility to secure the dog in order to avoid the situation. But I'm sure this isn't something that is a unique situation to cops all over the country. Lots of people have dogs, and I'm sure that there have been times where a dog owner has failed to secure their dog while the cops have been present and the situation was resolved without it being shot.

The cops had the opportunity to react differently in the situation and didn't. They skipped over available actions in favor of immediately resorting to deadly force, which is supposed to be the LAST resort.

That's my main issue here.

You're a useless piece of chit and I wholeheartedly hope you respond to a call and don't see the gun before it's too late. The world needs less people like you.

Ladies and gents, these are the psychopaths representing our police force. No wonder chit like this is constantly being reported. Police privilege, bullied as a child so has a vendetta, probably got the whole works going on.

so what happens when you have kids? kids are human, but you are supposed to be in charge of the house, not their friend.

It is the unions. Government workers under no circumstances should have unions. Do soldiers have unions? Why do cops and firefighters? It creates a system where training levels aren't raised or tested.

A cop in my town near me killed a old lady during a training exercise on accident. Had a history of mistakes and not following procedures. Still hasn't been charged and the police union has him in a private witness protection program and are "helping him through this tragedy" (exact words)

That's my main issue here.
the dog clearly charged at the cop barking aggressively, your whole "wagging tail" is complete crap as a dog can easily still be attacking with its tail wagging as i already stated the video showing 2 dogs mauling an old man wagging their tails happily. The cops had a lawful reason to be there, not only that but they were in a public place, once the dog goes from private resident into the public that is the fault of the owners. Cops dont "remove themselves from the situation" stupiest thing ive ever heard

dude shut up. no one gives a fuk what a breeze could have done. point is she had pushed it to close it at least a bit more than it was, and the cop stopped that and pushed it in the other direction.

Do you know what inertia is? do you know what physics is? do you know what F(net)=ma is? it's likely that, had he not pushed it open, the dog would not have came to the door, judging by how much time was in between her leaving and the dog showing up. it's possible that, by doing so, he got the attention of the dog, so the dog was wondering wtf is standing on the other side.

Doesn't fkn matter what would have happened, only what did...

dogs run up to people for many reasons, barking or not. My dog will charge me just for a treat, but I've never felt the need to shoot him.

As far as the dog going into a public place, please prove that. It didn't go more than 15feet from the door, so unless they lived in a trailer park, it was likely still on their property. I'm pretty sure people pay property taxes for more than just the building itself.

No it wouldn't. But I'll say that one thing should have happened. The cop should have told her to bring the dog with her to lock him up in a room. I understand the whole idea that the officer wants to see inside to ensure that his safety isn't in danger, but you're an idiot if you think the dog should've been killed.

Never even said "remove themselves from the situation" in any of my posts. Not once. Learn to read. Everything you're doing here is just giving subjective reasoning as to why they had justification.

It's not just about the tail. It's the entire behavior of the dog. The dog in the video was not displaying aggression at all. You're performing ridiculous mental gymnastics and focusing on subjective elements to try and prove your point. The cops weren't on public land, they were on private land. The doorstep of the apartment complex is still the private property of the complex owner. It's very clear that cops need training on animal behavior if this is your reasoning. Like I said before and you ignored, there are millions of people in America with dogs, and I'm sure situations come up all the time where they aren't secured while the owner is talking to the cops, yet they manage to stay alive.

Nothing you have provided ITT has been concrete reasoning to justify their actions. The only redeemable thing you have stated is that the owners had a responsibility to secure the dog, which is correct, but the cops also have a responsibility to react to certain situations WITHOUT RESORTING INSTANTLY TO DEADLY FORCE.
