As far as why youre doing well you fixed your work ethic, kicked ass, now youre reaping rewards. Youre also 8+ in looks which say what you want but people want to work with good looking in shape people and be served by them.

Or I could just continue what I'm doing ... become an external wholesaler and make 200-300k at my peak but it's still nothing compared to you IBD and PE boys ... so funny how much you guys make with ENTRY level jobs lol

Know *******s who have bought their degrees and are running successful businesses.
Lettuce be cereal, graduates really are good at their specific field, they can be an Ivy Engineer, but legit be retarded in everything else. We put too much value in degrees...

I keep telling miscers this, but most bankers don't give a fuk about the CFA. I'm in research, I think miscinginbed is actually a banker so I'm sure he can elaborate, but based on your posts you always talk about wanting to be on the transaction side of things and doing the CFA to get there isn't optimal. While CFA offers a great breadth of knowledge, very few care about it outside of research/portfolio management. An MBA program would be a much better entry point to IB/PE.

I'm also a L3 Candidate who's gone through a lot of recruiting so I feel like I sort of know what I'm saying in regards to the CFA.

I'm working for a fund company now in a sales role so my plan is to maybe network within the firm and move to an analyst type role or product management ... something like that ... I just don't know if I'm smart enough to do equity research

But I'm with a good company and the CFA is valued here in Canada

Also I'm 27 years old ... I'm not breaking into banking at this age competing with 22 year olds with 4.0s

But I totally hear you on how it's pointless for ibd and stuff ... like my buddy who's in private equity isn't even going to get the CFA ... if anything he says he's going to apply to schools like Harvard or Wharton for his MBA

The real failure is that people start an MBA right after undergrad, and schools oblige. The quality of the program is only as good as the quality of the candidates and their professional experience. That is why I took the exec route...professionals in their mid-thirties to late-fifties.

Agreed... those direct entry MBA degrees from like Laurier and chit seem like such a waste ... I guess if you took something other than business in undergrad but still it's a hefty price to pay to take a program with a bunch of non professionals which you outlined was one of the major benefits of the MBA

It depends on the person some people need education some dont I said fukk it in highschool and stopped going and do pretty well for myself and have what I hope is a very bright future ahead of me but I also have to work way harder and take a lot more risks than someone who went to school and got a cozy job. Ive changed careers 3 times because I didnt like the growth potential of the industry I was in.

Finance is an industry that shouldnt even fukking exist imo
