I honestly laugh at people who think they can educate their way to a good job

I work alongside a guy and he has a fuking MBA from a top Canadian school and I have an undergrad in finance from a mediocre Canadian school.

He paid 100k for his MBA... I paid 28k for my undergrad.

We have the same fuking position lmfao and I'm out performing him like wtf

Because the education system is a joke. Its mostly just regurgitating facts, or quoting references.

You'll see most the pioneers in life didnt go through school.

Education =/= intelligence

Lmfao no kidding like what would you even learn in an MBA ?

Like regurgitate a few marketing books, learn some financial accounting and how to discount cash flows.

Like wtf is an MBA honestly and how does it prepare someone for work

MBA is mostly a bullchit degree. He paid $100k because he chose a prestigious possibly private university, which is a dumb move.

But if he went to a good school to become a doctor, lawyer, engineer, etc. he'd be making banks and in that way he WOULD in fact have educated himself to a good job.

EDIT: Wizards^ but point still valid.

My connections landed me a good job, my education and natural high-level cognitive function have allowed me to be a corporate high flyer since I was 23.

I'll probably end up in the C-suite by my 30s while u work alongside losers and mediocre gradudates from "goods chools"

Maybe some, but they educated themselves. And that doesn't mean reading some blogs or watching youtube

intelligent people start businesses or acquire highly marketable skills (law, medicine, etc)

average people depend on degrees

This is why I'll never bother getting a masters unless the company pays for it.

Nothing worse than being overeducated but not have a matching position with it.

you sound threatened by him because he is more educated than you, worried your employer will likely value his MBA when the next opportunity comes up?

You have the same role, at the moment..

being successful in most jobs is all about politicking. some jobs require a degree to get your foot in the door, but once you're in, its all about forming cliques and alliances. srs.

Yep, those days are long gone. Just get out there and start hustling. If I could go back and uneducate myself, I would do anything to get those years back.
