I'd be more than happy to see more with tasers, and frankly I think all of them guarding places like Parliament should be armed officers. What would more likely happen, if done correctly of course, is more deaths of criminals and less of cops, and of course serious injuries to cops that don't kill them, but that does not mean you don't want to avoid that if you can by shooting your attacker. I know UK police suffer serious knife injuries, etc that does not lead to death. That's a conversation for you all to have and not for me to decide, but I (per OP) can't watch such a vid, see news an unarmed cop stabbed, etc, and not feel your people are getting less than they deserve.
OP was not UK bashing as you can see. Was with all due respect to your hard working cops who risk their lives with little means of defense and for me, that just aint right.

Of course the flip side of the argument is that your cops are militarized and scared chit-less of your armed populace. They are also doing the job of psychologist, councilor, sheriff, and solider... with insufficient training. Hence all the tear gassing, excessive forcing, shooting, and killing of disabled, innocents, minorities, or just about anyone who can be perceived as "not complying". Definitely a model for all of us: shoot first, then let the prison system sort 'em out.

oh btw.
In the UK, 64% of adults are classed as being overweight or obese. The report predicts a "huge increase" in heart attacks, strokes and diabetes. Globally, the percentage of adults who were overweight or obese - classed as having a body mass index greater than 25 - grew from 23% to 34% between 1980 and 2008.Jan 3, 2014
This recent event of the use an assault car and knife to kill some people and stab a UK cop to death*, before dude taken down with a gun **, had me looking at a few vids. I came on this one and it just blows my mind to see. Not even the Aussies nor Canadians put their LE through this. Watching this vid so cringe worthy it drops my T by 50 points.
Cliffs:
•Cue Benny Hill theme before watching vid
•Feel bad for the LEO of the UK who deal with that
•Takes 10 cops to deal with one nut with a knife
•Can't fathom justification for it.
Is that what people in the UK think cops should have to do? Be chased around by some nut with a knife like hapless idiots?
In the US, those first steps he takes toward them he would have been burned down from lead poisoning. I truly can't believe anyone in the UK or other low T euro countries is OK seeing that yet make any comments about US police. In the US, don't need 10 cops to deal with some POS like that, just one is needed.
_gLBJyBGUEs[/youtube
* = RIP officer and those killed with the assault car.
** = After emerging from the vehicle, the attacker stabbed a police officer to death in this recent event. What stopped him? A body guard for a politician with a gun...
I fail to see the problem here. Great example of policing.
Nobody died including the mentally ill perpetrator who was apprehended and brought to justice. Our officers are equipped with tazers and since nobody has guns in the UK they are more than enough to incapacitate offenders.
In the USA one of your brainless fat cops would have just blown this guy away and then there would have been 3 weeks of intense rioting and further deaths.
Also - please explain to me how dealing with violent offenders without the use of a firearm is 'low T'. If anything it's the reverse.
Use your brain.
You may be bald but you are not very smart or even adequately nourished with 'T'.

I'll often rest my forearm on my OC which gives me the quickest draw possible and doesn't show any force. And obviously you blade your gun away from the subject you're addressing or you try to keep it in the best place possible.

We do have far more deaths where fire arms are the tool than we should, but that's another topic of a sorts.

The amount of **** ups of relatively untrained officers would outnumber the amount that you could count on one hand that it could POTENTIALLY save a year. Our cops are the most alpha on the planet. They basically do their jobs with their bare hands and MAYBE a tazer (which they only use as a very last resort IF they have one).
No other force on the planet comes close to that kind of alpha. You can't argue otherwise!!

I'd like to see how you would deal with that volatile situation without your precious gun.

Our cops are the most alpha on the planet. They basically do their jobs with their bare hands and MAYBE a tazer (which they only use as a very last resort IF they have one).
No other force on the planet comes close to that kind of alpha. You can't argue otherwise!!

The end result is great for all involved. If they look at this video and claim it's "by the book" then I'm happy to not work over there.

Well those 'brain dead idiots' managed to avoid killing someone and causing a whole lot of other problems.
I'd like to see how you would deal with that volatile situation without your precious gun.
No doubt you'd be cowering inside your Queen Vic waiting for SWAT.

A taser is a weapon, just FYI.
They ran away
They also encountered a subject who obviously just postured and didn't attempt to cause bodily harm. If that subject would have actually attempted to cause bodily harm he most likely would've done so...to the people who didn't run away.

But you'd effectively have to arm the entire police force without causing any increase what so ever to the rate of accidents for the level of death to be decreased. You're missing the point. Nothing to do with them having guns. Two guys with a knife and bat and you're a dead man. There's no such thing as "gun crime" as guns don't commit crimes.
No different here. In fact, our sentences for such tend to be much harsher than yours I believe,
And that's same here. Vast majority of crime in the US and shootings is criminals on criminals. Despite hysterical news, murder rates and crime way down in the US (which coincided with increase in non criminal gun ownership BTW) and random mass shootings happen all over the world, and very rare in terms of statistical likelihood for average person to experience. Per capita, US does not lead the world in mass killings due to terrorism either.
We do have far more deaths where fire arms are the tool than we should, but that's another topic of a sorts.
